FRANKIE DETTORI is the man of the moment as COUNTRY GRAMMER wins the 2022 Dubai World Cup at Meydan

- Country Grammer provides Frankie Dettori with a fourth success in the Dubai World Cup.
It was 22 years since the ever-popular Italian first won Dubai’s showpiece event aboard the great Dubai Millennium. He went on to add to his tally aboard Moon Ballad in 2003 and Electrocutionist in 2006.
Trained by Bob Baffert, Saudi Cup runner-up Country Grammer was part of a formidable American contingent headed by red-hot favourite Life Is Good.
Todd Pletcher’s Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile winner had successfully stepped up to nine furlongs in the Pegasus World Cup in January, but faced an even sterner stamina test over Meydan’s mile and a quarter.
Life Is Good got off to his usual fast start and led the field into the home turn, but it was obvious with a furlong to run that the petrol tank was emptying quickly and he faded into fourth place.
Dettori, on the other hand, delivered Country Grammer with a perfectly timed challenge and he was ultimately well on top at the line, with Hot Rod Charlie staying on strongly to finish second with Chuwa Wizard capping a great night for Japan in third.

Frankie is 52 years young and as enthusiastic as the day he rode his first winner, the man is a racing legend.

I never thought in a million years that I would get to see him do his famous flying dismount off MY horse -- This was the thrill of a lifetime for me and I am so very proud of my boy CG!!!

Estuvo estupendo, que buena rebasada al final dio el, y que espectacular manera de guiar al caballo, y como siempre, ganador al final. Y luego da su espectacular salto, bajándose del caballo de un salto fenomenal, solo característico de él.
Soy una gran admiradora de el y me agrada siempre verlo contento, y hasta al final nos obsequia un saludo a travez de la cámara, la cual lo está firmando.

Frankie knew his mount hit a flat spot 3F out and didnt panic. Just kept cajoling and nudging until the straight and he picked them up in good time. Still the best. Still Frankie. Have some of that 🍕🍺

Hot Rod Charlie dropped back a bit to 6th then flew at the end. Pleased for Frankie but not Baffert

Mi pregunta es: puede un trainer acreditarse una victoria con un caballo q no ve de cerca desde hace mas de 2meses?????
El entrenador es el que dirige el entrenamiento que el caballo va a seguir. Puede que el entrenador no esté presente, pero le indica a su asistente el entrenamiento que tiene que seguir para que el ejemplar tenga la condición física perfecta para la distancia. Así que el triunfo es compartido. El jinete por su habilidad de montar un caballo de carrera y el entrenador por tener el caballo en la mejor condición física posible para la distancia de la carrera.

While Dettori's ride is undoubtedly fantastic, what puzzles me is why he could get fined for overusing his whip. Well, he may have whipped Country Grammar more than 10 times, but all with gentle force with the aim to keep the horse's pace up. So, the quantity is the only thing that matters, and how the whipping is done is not of any importance?
