- Electronic devices. Aren't they fun? Many if not most of these would have been unknown to our parents, yet now we feel we can hardly get along without them. These devices are sold in stores and markets all over the world, and it's helpful to know the English names-sellers will often know these, even if they don't speak English. Some of these are also known by trademarked names: a copier, for example, is often referred to in North America as a xerox machine, even if Xerox is not the maker.
