- Rusty WW2 German Helmet Restoration. I found this rusty German helmet with a metal detector on a WWII battlefield. This helmet was very rusty. But when I washed the helmet, I saw the emblem. I decided to restore and preserve a rusty German helmet to preserve history. There was a lot of rust. I removed the rust and preserved the helmet with wax. I hope you enjoyed my restoration video.

That helmet was 99% rust, 1% steel
you are AMAZING at restoring and preserving... but for some reason this 1 touched me.... who was the person wearing it... was he PUSHED into service...did he have family... did they reject/support him...did he have friends/neighbors that were imprisioned/ died what would their lives be like if wars didnt happen... soo much memory and events that helemt must have experienced...thank you !!!
*This one touched you? The helmet was worn by "not-see" trash.*
@@reverendtfg6802 LET ME REMIND YOU THEY ARE STILL HUMAN!!!!!! if you were UNDER HITLERS AGE GROUP AND WAS FORCED INTO THE MILITARY BY NO CHOICE OF YOUR OWN except escape out of the country...IF THAT WAS EVEN POSSIBLE... YOU CANT JUDGE THEM THATS GODS JOB !!!! you and i DONT HAVE A CLUE WHAT THAT COUNTRY WAS DECIEVED INTO before hitler was at the top of command... WE WERENT THERE. no i DONT AGREE with what hitlar did but..WHEN U HAVE ZERO RIGHTS.. IT COMES DOWN TO HIDE AND PRAY OR SUFFER AND DIE. being in the service im DAMM SURE WASNT EVEN CLOSE TO BEI NG HUMAN FOR WHAT THEY HAD TO DO. HATE SOLVES NOTHING!!!
Nem todo soldado alemão era nazista. Ele lutava pelo seu país. @@reverendtfg6802
@reverendtfg6802 comments like yours are the reason we start wars.
Not sure I totally understood the "not see trash" expression you used but putting the blame of the horrors committed in wars in the shoulders of a low rank foot soldier is, to say the least, unfair. Just my opinion.
@@just.jose.youtube agree !!!
You did your “normal” miraculous restoration with more conservation than you previously had done. The final result shows the horror of war but also how personal it can be. Well done sir!! The Old Army Scout…..
Nice conservation, considering what you had to work with!
You can date the helmet by the rolled edge and the single decal down to a window of a few months in WWII.
Excellent as always…. I’ve got two naive questions: was the second time you submerged the helmet was it in oxalic acid? Also, why not use electrolysis?
Thank you! Yes, in oxalic acid. Electrolysis will destroy the remaining paint and the emblem.
Awesome Restoration
Well done on preserving that helmet. 10/10
Amazing Restoration 👍🏻👍🏽👍🇬🇧🇬🇧
Highest Rating! This is an honest restoration, and it was a lot of hard work! VERY WELL DONE!!!!
Thank you!
A 10 absolutely! Outstanding work!
You did a great job
Very cool. I restored an M42 couple years ago.

I say a 10 very nice work !! 👍👍👍👍
Love it dude!!! I purchased a German WW2 M35 Battlefield dug up from a Ukrainian 5 yrs ago it had the original apple green with traces of double decal with field grey paint pieces of the original liner was intact but didn't have the split pins with it. Don't know whether I should restore it or not
Nice 👍work!
Give you a 10 SUPER DUPER AMAZING AND LOTS OF HARD WORK

Amazing 🔥🔥🔥
10 - A work of conservation.
Great work!
Nice work as usual. I've got one question though. Was kind of lighter did you use to melt the wax ? It is the 1st time that I see one like this and I am intrigued. Have a good day.

Preservation: 10
Those stuffs can be restored because were well made
The kids reckon 7/10.
.. bought one once for some stupid reason, years later i was working on a set and i got the great Wolf Kahler to sign it for me... again no idea why just thought it another stupid thing. sits on a shelf getting so dusty Rextorer might have to give it a going over one day.
Ah here is a fine example of a german ww2 helmet going in to retirement
Not that you didn't do a great job, but I think there's still orange spots (active rust) in the interior. Check it out, I might be wrong
Remember it is not rust but the original bauxite before it becomes metal as the connector has dissolved formulating flake effect as the ore it's self

I take it you don’t have a sandblaster or whatever they’re called?
I have a sandblaster, but I wanted to preserve the history
@@ReXtorer Ohhhh Gotcha.
Considering the shape of the rust bucket I'll give it a 8and a half
A Gross Deutschland helmet? That wax melt was clever.
✌👍
But what about the inner parts? All the straps
Would sandblasting have destroyed the helmet?
Any idea why would the interior be in worst state of conservation?
And what was the green slime used in the end? Dish soap?
It was a fossil made of rust
At the start: Rosthelm
By the end: Stahlhelm
)))
great job (10) - always thought they had the r...eich-flag on the helmet...
Thank you! The flag is on early models. At the end of the war, helmets did not even have emblems
@@ReXtorer ah that's why... tahnks - yeah seems logical, they needed helmets fast back in the day...

Hhm where is the eroded away metal?
This guy found over 100 helmets from the battle of Berlin they aren't in as poor condition this has to be a ww1 era sthalhelm
We all know what this helmet saw 💀.

I hope you’re up to date on your tetanus shot 😂😂😂

That SS logo ...
No , its whermatch decal
Wehrmacht !
Gotta be honest. Still looks like garbage. Why didn't you use electrolysis to get rid of all the rust? Or paint stripper? I prefer real restorations, not just mild cleanings and waxing.
He wanted to keep the original paint as much as possible.
