I have a lot of family in the military and I'm unbelievably proud of them, but I've been lucky - they've come home. My quote, above, was recognition of Rep. Crenshaw saying that (which is the point/gist of this particular speech of his) that we all have to be **mentally tough**. (E.g. Grandpa didn't fight the Nazis so that we could all flee to our safe spaces - no, he fought the Nazies expecting that his descendents would also be mentally tough and be worthy of the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave. You know, as opposed to "Titto, hand me a tissue! And where's my safe space?")

    Very good discussion on the underlying values that makes one an American (Western civilisation more generally), and the fight to keep these values in the face of progressivist ideology which seeks to destroy these values and replace them with marxist authoritarianism.

  • @jakedunnegan
    @jakedunnegan Před 4 lety +14

    I do believe we have on our hands, another "Great Communicator". He's elucidating ideas that seem to be forgotten. Most Republicans today are too scared to talk about "personal responsibility" or to make a full-throated defense of the free market, or, God forbid, "mental toughness."

    • @jakedunnegan
      @jakedunnegan Před 4 lety +1

      @@batterypoweredgardener8181 Not everyone on the Right thinks unhinged people who have made credible threats to kill people should keep the weapons in their possession. Obviously, there has to be some way to regulate it, potentially return the weapons, or have some proof that the potential wrong-doer is not going to commit the crime. But FAR too often there are legitimate cases where someone is mentally unstable, and people around said person, just know that they're going to kill someone soon - and we just stand by and wait for it to happen.
      That's nuts. I believe in the right to bear arms, but there has to be some finesse in the situation. We have to think of new solutions.

    Dan Crenshaw, a Navy Seal who decided he needed more education and went to Harvard to get an MPA so that he'd be better at leading before seeking a government position, versus AOC, a person who graduated with a BA from BU and, rather than going to grad school to actually specialize in ANYTHING, she worked as a waitress until she realized that was not lucrative and there was more money in Congress. The difference clearly shows.

    When I was in high school between 2009 and 2013, sometime in the middle there I had this reoccurring sentiment every now and then that the MANDATORY pledge of allegiance EVERY morning was akin to indoctrination. Why am I being forced to recite something without little proof of such greatness? Why am I being forced to do something without an idea outside of just the basic Revolution or Civil War history.
    What was to blame? The system?...or is it the fact that school did little other than regurgitate text books and not go into detail about how things work like this man does. I'm in my late twenties now and I fully understand where America stands back then and now in modern times. We are a leader of liberty, free market and opportunity. Foreign people make fun of the "american dream" because it's technically the whole world's dream for people to pick themselves up and prosper. No. It's the American Dream because it's American. America statistically does good by you when you try your very best to better yourself. America stands by you and supports you in many ways, while other countries rip money from your pockets to pay for programs that do not benefit you.
    Kids of today, you may not feel patriotic now while those mental asylums called schools fail you, but I assure you that if you reject the cultural BS that the youths before you have grown up in, you'll thankfully NOT be the generation that turns us to communism.
    In the words of Ronald Reagan: "Freedom is always one generation away from extinction". You may not know what our freedom actually means, but if you care enough to learn by lectures on youtube, then you surely will.

      @@fionnaitsradag5152 Right - the idea being getting guns out of the hands of crazy people. You know, the ones who shoot up churches and schools and the like. Much has been written about the VA-Tech gunman. From Wiki: "Cho had previously been diagnosed with a severe anxiety disorder. During much of his middle school and high school years, he received therapy and special education support. After graduating from high school, Cho enrolled at Virginia Tech. Because of federal privacy laws, Virginia Tech was unaware of Cho's previous diagnosis or the accommodations he had been granted at school. In 2005, Cho was accused of stalking two female students."
      Wouldn't have been amazing if HIS guns could have been taken away? If 32 people would be living today (or, at least, in 2007...) How can anyone possible defend leaving guns in the hands of people who have been clinically proven to be a danger to someone?
