    Supplies List:
    - 24g sterling-silver sheet (with enough space around your cabochon to add another layer of wire)
    - 24g dead-soft sterling-silver or fine silver bezel wire to fit the height of your stone
    - Cabochon or found object to bezel (when you select it, make sure it is one that is shorter than the height of your bezel wire or you won't be able to set your stone properly).
    - Decorative wire a little longer than you need to wrap around your chosen stone (sterling-silver or fine silver, dead soft- search for twisted or full-bead wire)
    - Jump ring or wire to create your own jump ring to use as a bail.
    - Consumables: butane, flux, pickle, liver of sulphur and s/s solder in hard, medium and EZ.

    I stumbled upon this video about silver jewelry making, and it blew me away. The craftsmanship and creativity involved are just mesmerizing. Watching how she shapes the metal into beautiful pieces is fascinating, especially for someone like me who is still learning. It's a must-see for anyone who appreciates art and skillful work, regardless of whether you're a jewelry enthusiast or not.

    Lefty = right brain. Used to be ambi, but stroke took right side. Had the hardest time rehabbing with small parts, and now I’m trying to make jewelry with all this spare time I have (need $ too). I have always used what I had, but I had a huge imagination and lots of creativity. I enjoy making LOTS of mistakes. Thank you!

    It is amazing that you are willing to share this information without charging for it! So giving and i greatly appreciate it! I have caught on to most people saying either a 24g or 22g for backplates but what i never hear anyone say is if we should use a dead soft or 1/2 hard or any of the other options. I checked the supply list and it says 24g but not what hardness to use. Could you please advise me on this? Thanks again for sharing!!!

      @@SusanLenartLiebe Susan,

    This is amazing, I learnt to make wire wrap jewellery myself I've been using 3 tools for the past 7 years lol. I was asked to make an engagement ring and I wasted so much wire trying to wrap 2 small Gemstones with no hole and not wanting to copy other youtube wire wrapping designs but I done it. It is so unique and beautiful. I told my customer that I need to learn soldering and a couple days later you showed up.
    Many other people teaching on CZcams but I didn't want learn from people that I don't feel aligned with.
    My question is do the same rules apply if you work with copper or brass ?
    Thank you

    • @SusanLenart
      @SusanLenart  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Yes! The same rules apply but you just need to turn up the heat in the gas. Those 2 metals take a little longer to get hot and let the solder flow property

    Hey Susan! I've ordered your book from amazon and I'm just so excited to receive it. I live in the UK so it's taking a while.... Nevertheless I find your Spirit, and your expression of Art through Jewellery just breathtaking!! You've helped me get out of the 'expected' box that jewelers are expected to be in, and I've found freedom and creativity flowing!! Thank you so very much! I do have one question for you though.... What Flux do you use? I have the traditional bowl and cone to add water to..... but I think your way is much easier and productive! So please could you recommend the flux you use in your spray bottle? With Love, gratitude and heart centred thanks to you for sharing your methods and beautiful designs, Louise xx

    Hi Susan! Do you recommend dead soft or 1/2 hard sterling silver sheet for back plates? Thank you!

    • @SusanLenart
      @SusanLenart  Před 15 dny

      I work only with dead soft - mostly because I usually run the metal through the rolling mill to get a pattern. Half hard works well to keep an unmarred surface.
      Although nice you solder the first time, your metal will be dead soft from the heat

      @SusanLenart  Před 4 měsíci

      Hi love! I always use dead soft. I like to make life simple and I find it easier to stick to one hardness. Once I solder with it it will become dead soft because if the heat. Once I forge with the wire it will become hard .
