Anyone else like Doug's new stuff but love the old days?
+GodzillaFanForever 1 Meh, I prefer the newer stuff to the old, but that's just me.
i love all of it :D
I love it all too
I miss the white wall
+BDWJ1987 I just don't like the choices Doug made, the new series is full of strawmen and unpopular opinions.
I like the old series better, especially in 2012.
It's Saturday night! *Hooray!*
School is out! *Hooray!*
The night is young! *Hooray!*
All your friends are free! *Hooray!*
And you can't drive! *Ffffuck!*
I nearly died. XD
So did I!
Aaaaaaaaaah that old... OLD mindset when jokes like this could actually make someone laugh. How the funny have fallen.
Kenan & Kell was a HUGE hit in Brazil, we didn't have a translated version of Snick nor anything like that, but Kenan & Kell was loved for every kid and even some adults. Maybe because the voice acting of our translated versions is usually very well done.
rly? it was big here in america too, i love(d) it, and its coo to kno it was in brazil (even not translated), thats crazy/awesome
We loved it
....and here in the UK.
Btw I interviewed Kel on my channel :)
Kebab b jell was a little home visit everyone had transferred viestiibs of drinks
Yeah I dunno Dragon Ball begs to differ.
I remember when Snick first started, this was the lineup:
8:00 - Clarissa Explains It All
8:30 - Roundhouse
9:00 - Ren And Stimpy
9:30 - Are You Afraid Of The Dark?
I also am old
And since this post was made one year ago there's a chance you've died because we are elderly
Snick was dead to me when they dropped Ren & Stimpy
Vagui
@@fmsyntheses nope I’m still here, I’m only 37 I’m not old
I remember that too, watched it religiously. It was a little better when All That replaced Roundhouse.
You know with Paramount Plus having everything Nickelodeon (Nicktoons, comedies, and game shows), I would like to see him revisit this Nickelodeon theme and talk about the shows he couldn't back then.
As an adult, after hearing the creator of Are You Afraid of the Dark? was working on a new show (not even a horror show or for kids/young adults, just a new show in general. Yeah, he seriously stayed out of work for about 20 years), I set out to solve one of the greatest mysteries of my childhood: what the hell WAS that dust that made the fire flare up? The answer: powdered coffee creamer. Which is actually highly combustible, leading to many incidents when combined with the fact that they brought real trees onto a sound stage to film the Midnight Society segments. Fortunately they only took about a day to film an entire season's worth of the Midnight Society's segments, or Canada would have gone up in flames in the 90s.
EB Agent J really?! Damn, also I wonder what show they did after AYAOTD
I really adored Are You Afraid of the Dark when I was a kid. While it wasn't really scary, it was very consistently creepy.
i found are you afraid of the dark quite creepy as a kid.
+Soxxielou x Ever see the episode Dead Man's Float?
is that the one with the swimming pool?
+Soxxielou x yes
dang that was weird
+Soxxielou x
Yeah, it sounds like NC was just too old for the target audience of that one. I was pretty much too terrified to watch it when it first aired...though I think I can give the intro most of the credit for that. Funnily enough, I love anything related to ghosts/spooky haunting stuff now.
2:41 Now i understand the ''RANDOM DANCING'' joke from ICarly lol
Omg, yes!
Carly couldn't dance, tho
Lol!
"When writing a sketch, don't assume it's funny because you're screaming it, because it's not." Boy, is that ironic.
To be fair, he does point out the hypocrisy of himself doing it.
That is the joke. 🤦♂️
Dude that's literally the whole joke lmao how is it ironic. Did you even watch the next 15 seconds after he says that?
Aw my mum loves "Are you Afraid of the Dark?" and she even knows one of the actors personally.
No offense but that's probably why she likes it.
McMagic15 No she only knew the one personally years after she watched it as a child. She has loved it ever since she seen every single episode in the 90s.
Ivan Braginski My mistake then.
@@daeandknight I get it. My mom loves a lot of shows like X-Men or Night Court and taped off as many episodes as she could of each. Then she showed me those tapes so many times over the years that I can't help but love them too.
@@daeandknight thats probably your dad...
"And smoking weed around the fireplace."
(13:04) Rest In Peace Coolio 🕊✌️
You're not you when you're hungry, have a SNICKers bar. :3

ROUNDHOUSE was nostalgia in its purest form for us 90’s kids. I remember it being the first show on the evening’s lineup. The show wasn’t amazing whatsoever, but to this day I have vivid memories of hearing that intro song coming from my TV on a warm Summer Saturday night at 8pm as the last glow of the Sun’s twilight was leaving the sky. It was like the official kickoff song to my Saturday night. I was either going to stay-in and watch SNICK or I was paying half attention to it, while getting dressed and ready to go out. It’s been nearly 30 years and I still remember it clearly and how it felt. Oh! And even though she had 7 years on me, I had a crush on Micki Duran.💘 So there was that too.
That toast joke was funny I don't care what you say
Doug: Don't think things are funny because you scream it.
Doug: *Screams a good 80% of his jokes*
you're a real critical thinker huh?
Hence the joke here: 11:42
Lol I thought and was about to write the same thing. Doug can be a bit to ummm..... animated at times lol.
@Caleb Collier I *am* the Senate!
- The Senate
IT IS LOUD AND ANNOYING, AND ANYONE WHO DOES IT SHOULD BE SHOT. *BANG* UNSHOT. *BANG* AND GIVEN A BAG OF MONEY. *Ding*
RIP Dominic Lucero, one of MJ’s Bad Tour main dancers and the first cast member of Roundhouse. ❤
This is one of my comfort videos, i watch this whenever i wanna feel chilled out
The one story from Are You Afraid of The Dark that truly scared me, that I never forgot, and still find rather creepy was The Tale of The Doll Maker.
Senfree bajesus that was scary
Mine was Night Shift. That vampire terrified me when I was little.
I love how ren and stimpy went from being a saturday morning cartoon to being aired at midnight with an parental warning. at least where I'm from.
You talking bout Splat? Or Snick?
-🐺
It legally had to. Any cartoon that had adult humor had to be aired when minors were supposed to be in bed. I believe it was South Park that set that law in effect originally because parents deemed it innapropiate for kids. That's why you had shows like the Simpsons changing their time slot. In the USA of course I'm referring to. Not sure about anywhere in the world.
I laughed out loud when Doug Walker described the songs on The Roundhouse as resembling bad Christian music , considering that one of the cast members from the first season , Chrystal Lewis , later went on to have a career as a Christian contemporary singer .
Is that why it was called Roundhouse?
Was its only meaningful function to find the next great Christian singer to help Chuck Norris spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ?
I loved All That back in the day. Easily my favorite show on the block.
I barely remembered Roundhouse, but all I remembered was the dancing.
My two favorite vital informations:
"If you're skydiving and you forgot your parachute, (evil laugh) buh bye."
"A penny saved is a penny earned. And a penny is worth absolutely nothing!"
Haha Kenan and Kel got pretty famous in the UK later in the 90's. This rumour went around loads of schools that they'd died in a car accident. The main show was very studio-bound (they always broke the fourth wall at the end), so only had 2-3 locations in each episode. I also seem to remember them acting a lot younger than their actual ages.
I met Kel Mitchell at Awesome Con in Washington DC two weeks ago. He's cool. I got his autograph.
Doug should come to Awesome Con, would like to get an autograph.
Does anyone else think the word "Snick" sounds like a slur?
+Leo Burton are you fuckin kidding me?! I remember hearing that word from Mad tv!
+fife007 lol mad might be races
+Leo Burton Snick is actually short for "Saturday Night Nickelodeon."
***** I know
It's sounds like a chocolate bar which nobody eats.
"I'll take the worst Nickelodeon has ever produced"
So.... He's reviewing breadwinners or any modern nickcom?
No, he reviewed Good Burger.
Because Breadwinners wasn't created yet.
Just take the creativity out of breadwinners (at least it has some creativity) and replace it with the blandness of the loud house and there you go the worst nick show of all time
@@Mrenderboyo what is it?
Gian Paguiligan its not an actual show im just saying how to make the worst nick show ever
god I miss old NC. Coming back to this after watching the "review" of The Wall 😞
He sums it up pretty good at 0:55
I Loved Vital Information Especially With Lori Beth Denburg
LOVED ROUNDHOUSE! Felt like the only person who Remembered it.
KEENAN AND KEL!!!!!!!
The original Drake and Josh, kids!
....right down to being a follow up show to a sketch comedy show they were on. 😂
Are you afraid of the dark? Was pretty terrifying when I was an kid. Especially the episode with the school pool build on an cemetery where only the headstones were moved.
7 years later but fuck ya that episode is dope the invisible monster reveal was terrifying and also loved at the end he still isn’t into swimming and his swimmer gf still is into swimming but he’s in the pool on a raft
promethius and bob was so scary to me as a kid, I dont even know why.
+Jordan wernette the stop motion, probably
+Jordan wernette I found it hilarious!
+Jordan wernette me too
same.
It was abrupt, kind of violent and had no music other than at the intro. Perhaps that had something to do with how unsettling it was.
I liked Are You Afraid of the Dark, and the idea of being in a cool secret group that would hang out and do something fun like tell scary stories in the middle of the night was always something I thought would be very cool when I was younger.
i am a 2000s kid (born in 1998), still, here in mexico the tv channels were kind of delayed, i remember watching most of these shows, like kenan and kel, which was my favorite as a kid, i still remember the episode like if they lived in the year 3000.
oh screw you, the cryptkeeper was freaking hilarious.
clericofchaos1 His Jokes Were HORRIFYING
That is an example of terrible puns.
@@lepsonical4763 False.
All puns are hilarious (unless they are in poor taste)
(This is obviously a matter of opinion, so any reply would be invalid as my opinion is static.)
Same.
Agreed, the stories were so twisted and dark.
@@lepsonical4763 yeah thats part of his chrakter critic duhhh
I was a cartoon cartoon Friday kid
Same!
Kenan Thompson did become a Nickelodeon star before he was on Saturday Night Live. He played the black version of Alex Trebek on a sketch short, by the way.
R.i.p., alex!
If Saturday Night Live made too much sense for people like me, then All That was the most popular sketch comedy series that ever aired on Nickelodeon. It even had a series of sketches called 'Ask Ashley' starring Amanda Bynes as Ashley. Whenever she reads letters who watched her show, she gets mad at them. How crazy can you, people, get?
I remember getting traumatized as a kid by the, Are You Afraid of the Dark Episode: "Tale of the Dead man's Float"
And because of that episode, I was scared to go to my local swimming pool at night because of it.(even though I knew the Pool Zombie was just a suit actor) Sure I've gotten over it as an adult, but it still scared me.
But I liked Good Burger ;-;
A fun fact: the tomboyish black girl, Kiki from Are You Afraid Of The Dark is played by Jodie Resther, who did the voice of Francine from the animated series, Arthur.
I have to admit I liked Roundhouse as a kid. Might have to try and re-watch an episode to see if it was as good as I thought it was back in the early 90's.
Doug: "Are You Afraid of the Dark wasn't scary in the least"
Me who was 7 when I first saw it: "AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!"
Some people liked Roundhouse. I always remember the band and how awesome the bassist was.
I had a crush on the guitar player. And the keyboard player, James Raymond, is David Crosby's son and has had a very successful career in music.
16:51 Now if only he had seen the Fred movies first. He wouldn't be screaming so bad here.
Thank you! I thought I was the only one that accepted that those movies existed
Yep Turns out Good Burger was in a way the highlight of Nick movies that gave way to stuff like Fred, Monster Trucks....and of course THE LAST AIRBENDER
Those weren't out at the time, this video is from 2009
I remember the Dad character on Roundhouse rode around on a motorized recliner lol...
And told everyone to "pull my finger!" 😂
... Legends of the Hidden Temple?
How wasn't THAT mentioned?!
BoyDudeMan I wanted to be on that show so badly!
I am guessing same reason at the time no good clips and he had already used the joke twice mentioning a third show would have been pointless...we forget how bad it was to get clips in 2009 as most people were still uploading bad VHS clips
Because it was a game show and wasn't on Snick.
Dude, scary or not, Are You Afraid of the Dark will always be a favorite of mine. My sisters and I always wanted to be in the Midnight Society. We still watch this show every Halloween. I loved growing up with Snick; definitely made my nights better.
Now that there's a bunch of Nick game show footage online, will NC ever think of tackling it? Dare I say....Do You Have It?
Good chance he might use a bunch of footage from the DVD.
Last year my high school geography teacher showed us an episode in class
I hope he does Legends of the Hidden Temple
TehEpicViper that's the one he showed
+Headbanger142 GUTS
Everybody fucking loves Kenan & Kel here in Brazil.
I loved Vital Information XD
"If you're doing a book report for school, don't choose the book 'My teacher is a big, dumb jerk'"
Who dares question my story telling abilities! -- a question I ask myself every day!
I have to give AYAOTD props. For a show that had a budget so minimal that they didn't have to care, there was a lot of effort put into it. In the first series, each kid even has a different story-telling style and the writers adhered to that. They didn't have to, they just did. And, sorry, Doug, but I don't think you saw as many as you think - there were several that didn't have a happy ending. For the time, they were pretty dark - kids getting murdered, suicides, kids being murderers - the kind of stuff kids shows aren't supposed to do today but are slowly bringing back (or trying to).
Keenan & Kel was awesome!!!!!
I forgot about half of these shows. Also did he ever do Legend of the Hidden Temple?
I loved snick so much though. Mainly because it reminded me of sleepovers with my best friends and brothers. When the orange couch came out I knew I was safe, excited and had one more day before school Monday. I miss it so much
I laughed really hard at 0:14!
R.i.p., Coolio!
Kel Mitchell reminds me of Kevin Hart
They're both very funny!
What did doug say at 14:32? Lol!
That kenan & kel movie was one of my favorites as a kid. It was pretty disturbing at times tho. especially when the guy fed them human flesh
Wtf?
I sometimes watched Keenan and kel when I was younger
And liked it! Coolio did the theme song
R.i.p. to him!
@@cheneethompson5756 one of my childhood favorites. It’s an underrated show imo
Doug dares claim "Are You Afraid Of The Dark" wasn't scary not even the least bit?...that show delightfully scarred my childhood.
You know, Doug, a lot of classic Nickelodeon game shows are now on Paramount Plus. Getting the footage definitely won't be a problem anymore, so maybe you could do that video about them after all.
WHO LOVES ORANGE SODA!?

@@NoEntertainment I forgot I even made this comment and I'm as confused as you are.
11:09 Vital Information was my favorite all that sketch! It was the first time a live-action show made me cry of laughter.
Are you afraid of the dark was aired 1994 in swedish television. I was five years old and i remember it was terrifying.
I loved and still love Are You Afraid of the Dark. I'm sneaking up on 30 and I still watch it every so often.
did Doug ever review Rocko's modern life?
Oh my absolute favorite cartoon of all-time.
So nice. Good call, man
+Brandon Roberts Geebus Brandon! You are everywhere! It's nice to see you but gah! You certainly make your rounds around CZcams :)
+phantomstrider8 love your vids :)
He should take a better look at Hey Arnold. His look in the Nicktoons episode was pathetic. Literally based on THE FIRST PAIR OF EPISODES
+Scott Sandler Yeah Hey Arnold is one of my favorite cartoons ever. :)
My childhood memories of Snick are vivid at best. But without any uncertainty I can recall changing the channel to MTV to watch Beavis and Butthead, Aeon Flux, or Liquid Television during Roundhouse. I remember changing it back during the Ren and Stimpy credits just in time to watch Are You Afraid of The Dark. The 90's were the golden age of cable television.
This makes me nostalgia
I LOVE ACTION LEAGUE. I love it so much. ✨✨ Kablam was awesome specifically because of that. Keenan and Kel and All that was good too, but Action League, man. ACTION LEAGUE!!
2:59 "Dance, you fool, dance"! Hilarious :)
Never found "Are you Afraid of the Dark?" scary. The animated version of "Tales from the Crypt" (tales of the cannibalistic molemen and the vampire sleeping beauty were prime offenders) traumatised me to the point of becoming numb to most horror oriented towards kids and teens.
Glad to see all these but:
I loved “The Roundhouse”
(Didn’t mind using my imagination)
“Are You Afraid” was scary to pretty much everyone in elementary.
“Vital Information” was ok back then.
Musical performances were a big part of “All That”, can’t leave that out!
Assuming he already did Alex Mack?
Childhood fun was often corny, but I prefer to remember it fondly. Seems like Doug didn’t enjoy these as much.
I'm sure he did, but then he became an adult. Growing up sucks.
I watch Toonami
Your watching adult swim
Are you afraid of the dark was scary. Also, they sometimes ended their episodes without a happy ending which is not very common; I liked the show.
I LIVED for Are You Afraid of the Dark :-D
This episode is awkward now considering the Quiet on Set doc. 😅
At least he didn't talk about Pickle Boy...(shutters)
I absolutely love Are You Afraid of the Dark!
16:50 If you replace this with "Fred: The Show", you get the idea.
The tale of the Dream Girl was one of the best episodes.
SNICK is awesome! I love Roundhouse and Are You afraid of The Dark. I wish these were back! The MIdnight Society is awesome too!
Well the barrel riddle depends on if the barrel is filled with water because if it is the answer is a torch because it would evaporate some of the water. If it is not filled with water it would have been a hole.
I'm watching this on Saturday night right now
Between TGIF and SNICK, man, I LIVED for Friday and Saturday nights through the 90s:):) All That and Are You Afraid of the Dark were my FAVORITES!
Love the Bram Stoker's Dracula soundtrack in the background there at the end...
You never hear that anymore.
he needs to bring this back there are several millions of shows
That scream in the end. Hahahaha.
"Are You Afraid of the Dark" was almost more like an attempt to do a Goosebumps show.
That good burger sketch should be turned into a movie ;)
Kablam was my fav out of these shows. I think it holds up even today, IMO.
"I've heard of giving the finger...but this is RIDICULOUS!" Oh no! Not flipping somebody off! Aside from the somehow-scary parts of Are You Afraid of the Dark, this is going to be the death of me!
If memory is not to bad Kamblam had a pilot episode of the fairy oddparents and other pilot shows as well.
I was briefly part of one of those "lame" self esteem groups the he mentions during Roundhouse.
The leader of the Midnight Society (Ross Hull) is currently the Weatherman on Global TV in Canada
I love Ka-Blam! The Flesh, 'He's super strong and super naked.'
I loved watching Snick as a kid.
16:44 I love Good Burger, but this was really funny!
remember that are you afraid of the dark episode where the kid killed his bully then his sister
Ya Jontrom talked about that episode
THEY DIDN'T BLOW IT
I got scared of that from Jontron
And gets a bike in return
Wait, a kid killed his bully? That's some straight up Stephen King shit, right there!
Well, there are good Christian rock bands. One of my favorites are Bad Religion. They have a Christmas album that me and my dad listen to when depressed
I actually have very vague memories of having watched Roundhouse when I was around three I think. It's mostly just the title and theme song. Are You Afraid of the Dark? I barely watched because I was legitimately afraid of it. I saw a couple of episodes back then, but only if my mom was there. When I was thirteen or fourteen I guess I did see the TV movie they did, The Curse of the Silver Sight. I thought it was okay back then. Nowadays as a full grown adult myself, I like me a good horror story. All That I loved it. I think it's the reason I like sketch shows like Saturday Night Live now. I also loved Kenan and Kel. Though, judging Kenan and Kel solely based on Two Heads Are Better Than None is not exactly accurate. The film has certain supernatural and surreal aspects that never appeared on the show itself. I always thought that was strangest thing about it.
Don't get me wrong I LOVED the series Kenan & Kel growing up...
but I COULDN'T BREATHE when I heard ( black Cabbage Patch doll )
😂😂😂 i was laughing so hard
