"I'll never get sick of that joke~"
Until the The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog review xD
😂😂😂😂😂
"Vanilla Ice 1000" My sides. I love how Doug just comes up with these and says them so nonchalantly.
Holy shit I never realized how much I miss the classic Nostalgia Critic...
Nah i don't....i've noticed his early early videos kinda stink a little with this weird feeling of NoobAtMakingInternetOppinions syndrome, which early YT content used to have.... like when he attacks actual good points in movies with bad critcism, makes easy obvious jokes, talks out of bandwagon oppinion instead out of just being honest and was harsh at Mediocre At Worst movies.
Only good reviews were the obviously awfull movies, Comercial Episodes and most countdowns. I'm glad he improved a lot how to judge Cinema, Shows and such.
Yea before all the dumb intros I hate them
Classics will never die :P
@@jmoney4708 Dumb intros, overly contrived skits of repetitive joke for sake of irony, long ass sponsors etc.
I know, I'm kinda surprised at how funny this still is...
11:23Nostalgia Critic: I'll never get sick of that joke.(16 reviews later)Nostalgia Critic: No, I'm sick of that joke.
How did they mess this up? It’s literally the simplest story they could’ve adapted!
Crime: quacking in public
*Offended Gasp*
In Texas you get the death penalty for that.
and then Dragonball Evolution came along.............:(
William B And that shit-pile and mockery to the original material The Last Airbender movie.
Frodo laughs at you I heard they were going to make an Attack on Titan live-action movie...
NO NO NO ANYTHING BUT THAT ANYTHING!!!!
Tyler Abbott OH GOD WHY?!!!
Frodo laughs at you NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
gwabashnuba IT IS an example of a franchise that America tried to turn into a movie and DESTROYED though
That airmail guy had me cracking up
quacking up
Yeah they got it totally wrong! Bobobo Bo Bo-Bobo has an afro, not a mohawk.
This movie got so much wrong that it's a astounding accomplishment. Also pretty funny is the continuity errors and other flaws.
Really not that damn hard to adapt the original video game but as usual hollywood creates a very unfaithful version of what is based on a video game.
Adam Navigato bobobo bo bobobo is awesome
Actually in the original game he was bald.
@@jasoncase9481 dont even start
@@kuggacouragegx6093 Why are quoting this abomination?
AHA AHA AHA AHA AHA AHA AHA...
Quacking in public. Is that still a crime?
***** Why don't you try it and find out?
Your results?
I feel like quackin' so I think I will!
+JustinAKABiff Go to the police station and do it, if you're detained then you know it's at least a misdemeanor.
12:13 How the heck did the postman survive falling at least 30 feet off the ground, or at the very least, how is he not in a full body cast?
At Least we got Wreck-it-Ralph,That's a good movie about video games.
I always assumed that the two fighters were the double dragon
In the game, that's the case.
I was in New Angeles in 2007... Harsh times.
The actress who played Satori is so damn gorgeous 💒💖💖💖💖
I always felt that Mark Dacascos deserved bigger roles than he typically gets. I'm glad that he does still get work though as he is a very skilled martial artist. Seriously, he is one of those who maybe flew under the radar for some but is still incredibly capable.
Didn't even realize he was in this
4:50- 5:00 is my favorite part.
lol Yep, cracks me up every time. XD
ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! ha!
"Quacking in Public"
*THE FIEND!!!!*
I think Redlettermedia said it best that mailman was just a mailman who was going to commit suicide and when he jumped off and didn't die and saw an angry mob and found his purpose in life.
How come Crank, a movie who works EXACTLY like a video game despite NOT being based on any already existing game, is better than any of those movies?
I’m nostalgic for old nostalgia critic reviews
Bimmy and Jimmy
Yeah..... my mom absolutely loves this movie. I bought her a VHS copy in the 90s and she wore it out, and I ended up buying her two more copies. I dont hate it, it is pretty bad, but I do kinda enjoy watching it.
That's kinda psychotic tbh
So, it’s a guilty pleasure for you?
Want proof that video game movies are still bad?
Sony hired Jay Basu for the MGS movie. So far, all the movies he's done are 4 out of 10 AT BEST.
Dennis Claros No wonder Hideo Kojima left Konami. He doesnt want anything to do with that movie.
I read Hideo Kojima said he has faith in Jay Basu for the movie, but honestly i'm still skeptical judging by how all video game movies have turned out.
10:31 That sounded more like a fart than a belch.
0:12- John Leguizamo starring in a Luigi's Manion spinoff... UGH, not even the deep web would be that evil, would they?... 0_o
4:53 someone make a 1 hour version of this. xD
Chase Sanity Or a 10 hour version
Well Mr. Critic, you haven't been yet introduced to the power of UWE BOLL. Some lamp reviewer and a spoon help you conquer his shit in about a year, and then another 4.5 years later. But there are some good video game movies that have come out. BUT I PRAY PIXELS IS GOOD
Scott Sandler Pixels has potential to be good. Remember, video games rock. Movies based on video games blow. Therefore movies about video games blow rocks.
Scott Sandler He reviewed, "Alone in the Dark" and "Bloodrayne."
ChefMatt Reviews I know that. But this was 2008 Critic. Alone in the Dark was in 2009
***** I know of maybe 2 good films that involve video games that are good. Not about a specific game they just involve them. And that's Wreck-it-Ralph and From and From is kinda stretching it.
89Crono I was really just quoting an old Nostalgia Critic video with that comment.
But really, you have to go see The Last Starfighter, War Games, and both Tron movies if you think those are the only ones.
Have you seen Double Dragons the animated series?
I have. It was better than the movie.
Ooooh! Where can I find that, kinda curious since I know absolutely nothing about the game/movie
I'll confess...I used to like this movie. I was a kid/very early teen and didn't know better. Thank you for reminding me how far I've come, Critic. Bless you!
Predicting 2007 in 1994 -- It's such a relief how wrong people can be about the future. I mean, flying cars, ray guns, dynamic monorails-- they scare me!
4:37 me when i hear a not funny joke
isn't ninjas Japanese idk
satori basically means ash
At least Mark Dacascos (portrayed Jimmy Lee) is an actual martial artist and worked on some choreography for the movie adaptation of Crying Freeman the following year. Later on he worked on The Crow: Stairway to Heaven, Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight, Iron Chef America, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
boo a bobo.....sounds like bobobos brother
5:04 Well actually they stole more than what the Nostalgia Critic said.
Here’s what Bimmy & Jimmy’s car inspections came from. From my perspective.
1. It had the Fire blaster from the Batmobile from the Tim Burton Batman films.
2. The computer from Knight Rider, WarGames & Innerspace.
3. The design of the Family Truckster from National Lampoon’s Vacation.
4. And also Mr Fusion from Back to the Future.
I think Bimmy & Jimmy are fans of 1980s movies
As bad as that was, I still want a sequel where the Lee Brothers fight his lawyers.
"Wow, I have issues."
- Nostalgia Critic
HEY, MORTAL KOMBAT DON'T SUCK!!! It's not a masterpiece but it's not painful like other video game based movies.
Abel Leitao Especially when compared to this piece of shit.
Mattheos Clemence Mortal Kombat is one of the best Video Game movies, because it's actually Mortal Kombat but with the story being fleshed out more, cheesy one liners, and just amazing acting 👌. Now the sequels those were a piece of shit that wasn't so bad it's good or actually trying
You know when I was a kid I went through a phase during a summer where I literally watched this movie at least once a day, sometimes two times a day, and I shared a TV with my brothers...am I evil?
11:32 "I'll never get sick of that joke" well that's a big fat lie :( !
“DO SOMETHING WITH THAT WO-“*She instantly explodes*
"For Whatever reason, they're certainly not getting any better"
Ah, the days before the Sonic Movie Spin Dashed into our lives.
I'm too lazy to go looking through all the comments to see if anyone else has said this: the appearance of the Double Dragon arcade game was meant to be a joke. As were the lines "Now who's the boss?" and "Generally I put people in the hospital."
Wait. If Doug was 26 in 2008, he's 33 or 34?! What the hell?!
yes he was born in 1982
My brain just asploded
that's just because he was just born in november.
this review originally was released in october so he was still 26 year old.
easy as that.
"Maybe it's time for film makers to stop worrying about money and concentrate on making good movies about video games."
HAHAHAHA like that'll ever happen.
Although if they were going to have an arcade cabinet get smashed, you'd think it'd be the Mortal Kombat arcade cabinet.
He will get sick of this joke
Detective Pikachu, Castlevania, Sonic the Hedgehog, Rampage, Need for Speed, Hitman, Castlevania netflix series and others have box office gold and very successful on netflix and other platforms.
Did this movie even mention how the brothers once went by the nicknames Hammer and Spike? Everyone seems to have forgotten that.
In my humble opinion this isn't a bad movie. no no no
Its one of the worst flims that happens to exist. Its at least number 4 of my top 10 worst flims I have ever seen list.
10:31 Underrated Moment. Although I don't think that was the music belching. One of the Lee bros probably passed gas judging from the smile on their faces.
This is funny too. 4:28
At least they didn't name him Bimmy.
God there was a cartoon of this game. We sure were reaching in the 90s
A cartoon??? Please tell me you're joking!
No lol. Back in those days ANYTHING could be a cartoon. And usually was lol
Pete Wade the cartoon had a better story though. and swords were the magic items in that
How did you not comment on that "Now who's the boss?" joke?!
Bill? Every one knows it's Bimmy and Jimmy. Who the hell is Bill?
It's sad that Sonic the Hedgehog is the best we have.
4:54 made me laugh so hard
I’m binge watching these classic NC episodes! They’re so cool.😊
Everybody knows it's not Billy and Jimmy, it's Bimmy and Jimmy.
Review the Double Dragon animated series
3:46 Andy Dick as the Weatherman is my favorite part in both the movie and review.
Ah, just wait four years Nostalgia Critic from 2008, Wreck-it Ralph is coming
+James A Clouder It's still very shameful after decades of movies and this is the only GOOD video game movie that many people got to enjoy AND it's a Disney flick.
+Dr Mobius What's wrong with it being Disney?
God, I love watching these videos when high because they are the exact amount of information my brain can process.
13:02 does that scene count as breaking the forth wall?
Meanwhile in the new Super Mario Bros. movie it was okay to have the Donkey Kong arcade cabinet in that film.
You know a movies bad when the games own creator hates it.
I LOVED this movie when I was a dumb kid...and I'm not ashamed of that.
Why do video game movies never stick to the plot of the video game it's about? Tekken is the only one i can think of that at least tried to make everything identical
The problem with video game movies is that they do either extreme. They either:
A) Stray too far from the source material to the point that there is no resemblance.
B) Stick _TOO_ close to the source material, to the point that it looks more like the actual game instead of being treated as a movie with a three act structure. Just look at _Ratchet & Clank._
The key to making _one_ good stinkin' VG movie is to make a balance of both, try something new while keeping just enough resemblance to whatever property they're adapting from.
Another factor is simply try picking a video game that has the most potential to be adapted into film. _Metal Slug,_ for example, has a lot of potential to be adapted as an animated movie with a stylization that looks like a heavy metal version of Miyazaki and can have a story there, or maybe an _Uncharted_ movie, the games already look like they could've been directed by Spielberg himself and nobody can do adventure better than him.
+Mr GamerTron the Tekken movie currently has a 0% on Rotten Tomatoes
Mortal Kombat actually stuck close to the original material. In MK2 (game) they retconned the story of MK1 (game) to create the backstory that the first film had: that the tournament was the one thing keeping Outworld from conquering the Earth Realm. Mortal Kombat the movie was a weird mashup of MK1 and MK2, even down to Sonya being kidnapped. Annihilation was supposed to be an adaptation of MK3 (game) but it just failed at telling the story in a meaningful way.
Even Street Fighter sort of tried to stick to Guile and Chun Lee's storyline from Street Fighter II. M Bison in the game was both tournament master and international terrorist, but only Guile and Chun Li focused on that second part. The movie removed the tournament part and tried to make *everyone* focus on it.
Ah, the days before Detective Pikachu, the Sonic movie and the Castlevania anime.
The character that Alyssa Milano plays is the one who gets punched in the gut and kidnapped in the games. The movie seems to have completely rewritten her character into some kind of tough lesbian gang leader.
She's not lesbian. Her character is drawn to the big guy with muscles at the end instead of the dragons. The leads don't deserve a love interest.
I shall never understand that 2007 technology.
Critic says filmmakers should stop worrying and just make film, today Warner brothers scars future filmmakers into not wanting to try
I thought this was a Double Dragon movie. Where's Bimmy? Where are the Battletoads?
You totally missed the "Who's the Boss" and "General Hospital" jokes, between Marian and Lash.
When are you going to show Dragonball Evolution. Even video game movies like House Of The Dead, Dead Or Alive, Tekken, King Of Fighters, and Resident Evil.
Come on. The first thing I thought about when that "Bo Abobo" guy's name was said was Bobobo's nose hair kung fu.
fun fact: i can actually recognize who each character was supposed to be. Marion (the leader of the gang of kids) was the girl who got punched in the gut and kidnapped in the game, bo abobo was the first boss (and star of his own fangame), the girl with the whip is recurring enemy linda lash, and koga shuko was the shadow boss from double dragon 2 on nes (later renamed to “raymond”, of all things), and of course billy and jimmy are the titular double dragons themselves!
Yeah, but Bo Abobo in this is nothing like he was in the game.
In the game, he was a big, bald, angry bodybuilder- type guy with a thick mustache.
@@Adamguy2003
Actually, Bo Abobo is an original character for this film.
He's based on the Abobo Brothers, the Mission 1-3 bosses from the arcade version of Double Dragon:
· Zack Abobo (the one who punches his way through a wall)
· Jick Abobo (the stronger version who looks like both Rocky III's Clubber Lang and Game of Death's Hakim the Mantis)
· Mibobo (a Hulk-like version of Jick)
Jimmy and Linda are the only characters in the film to be close to their arcade counterparts.
The only differences are their clothes and personalities.
I prefer playing in video games for Double Dragon.
There is no such thing ninjas in China or Hongkong. If only they put Japan in Osaka or Saitama, ninjas were everywhere...
For some reason my tail straightened out like a cartoon when I saw that female ninja (it was the human attributes)(hence why I am an anthropomorphic Tyrannosaurus Rex)
13:19 maybe not on TLOTR, but in "The Hobbit" Bilbo is actually writting "The Hobbit" as in memoirs. But is forgivable since this review came out years before that movie 😅
I'd say video game movies are somewhat starting to get better treatment these days. Wreck-it-Ralph was a hit and people even compare the concept to Roger Rabbit, and even though I've never played the franchise, I'd say Ratchet and Clank's PS4 title and its upcoming (at the time of writing this comment) reboot look damn good too.
Wreck it Ralph was a movie first.
Pelcogo I know that, and it was about games, and while the movie I did mention in this comment ended up as a failure it still gives us hope that not all movies about games will eventually improve. Plus, I was referring to how he said movies about games suck.
Rampage was a decent game based movie.
Actually Wreck it Ralph is a bit more like Toy Story then Roger Rabbit. If it was like Roger Rabbit then the humans and video game characters would co-exist in one shared universe.
@@leroyvisiongames2294 Very true. That would be very awesome if we have a movie where humans and video game characters coexist. If hopefully done right of course.
So, I have to ask what do people think of the Warcraft movie expected out this year? We know video game movies can be....questionable (Mario Bros, this one, the Wizard, I consider Mortal Kombat 1 a guilty pleasure though). Dr. Neo Cortex's voice actor is in it so that could be a plus
Why is he calling them Billy and Jimmy? Shouldn't it be Bimmy and Jimmy?
I honestly don't get why video game movies are so hard. Like seriously what is so hard about it? I've seen video game fanfics with writing miles better than these movies. Why? Why can't the writers who studied for years... you know... WRITE?!
+Bud Charles I personally think it's because Hollywood has very little respect for Video Games, with maybe the exception of Mario (and the reason that one was bad was because it tossed around and changed so much it became a Frankenstein monster)
+Bud Charles They simply don't care and want to cash in, it's not that hard to understand. They will try to cash in on anything and everything possible. I mean people were flipping out about how poorly adapted the 50 Shades of Grey movie was to its original source... yeah, the book made famous thanks to its horrid writing and how detailed they'd get over minor BDSM which was further proof it was just a middle aged woman's wet dream and they are making it into a trilogy. Michael Bay continues to try to cash in on our childhoods... making it more like his Transformers quadrilogy (where the last one was even against his trilogy)..
There's no way this couldn't be remade as a perhaps a live action streaming series.
I lost my shit at the mug shot part
5:15 so basically the Knight Rider reboot
Seriously I could imagine a Pokemon movie being incredible if they put effort into it, but most of them are just hour-long ads. Okay there's a couple good ones but there's so much POTENTIAL that's just not being capitalised on!
Pokemon has this amazing science fiction world with devices that can heal a creature instantly or store it in stasis inside a computer, it has so many possible stories about fantastic original creatures and human characters with all kinds of motives!
You could have someone who works protecting pokemon in the wild, or someone who joined Team Rocket because they needed money, or someone who dreams of winning the league but then changes their mind when they decided the happiness of their pokemon is more important than their own success - yes, that's right, I'm suggesting CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT.
Holy crud imagine showing off the incredible designs of unique pokemon like Quilava, Buizel and Umbreon to the world in a 3D animated movie, or showing off the incredible designs of towns like Ecutreak City. Holy shit people who have ignored Pokemon because it's a kids' show would be stunned by how incredible that was.
Imagine the ALREADY AMAZING SOUNDTRACK - but ORCHESTRATED! Guys come on this could be amazing! This could be a massive hit! The world could be stunned by the characters, the story, the creatures, the world, the animation, the music, the ART - and instead what do we get? Oh there's a new legendary, let's have a movie where the boring main character meets it, and then nothing at all changes as a result.
FFS IT'S NOT THAT HARD if I owned a big film company I'd pay for this thing, it'd be HUGE, what is the problem?!
Ugh!
+Bud Charles A Mario movie would be rather easy too, keep it CGI and make something like Mario Galaxy, badabing!
Damn Doug, i miss your old self.
Really loved all those years.
The guy can teleport, possess people, turn into shadow and they put him in jail! I don’t have an alternative, but how do you imprison someone like that?
Ha! They made a "Who's the boss?" Joke at Alyssa Milano
“Hottest ninja I’ve ever seen in my life “😭
This is an even worse mistake than calling billy bimmy in double dragon 3 yes they called one of the main charecters by the wrong name and this is worse
Actually the painting was torn just not that bad
5:04 it also looks like the station wagon from vacation
4:50 hahaha I was not ready for that!! 😂😂😂
It was pretty fun to watch this re-upload again after some time, but I realized something while watching that is quite funny.
Doug, you call out the movie on having the Double Dragon arcade game inside, and it was stupidly silly to be sure... but your example is just slightly weird when you consider that Bilbo WROTE a book about his adventures which was continued by Frodo... so, not so weird in that case eh?
It's not silly at all, that kind of easter egg happen more often than not... It's just that this one wasn't quire as subtle as most of those.
while viewing this video, i thanked my girlfriend who introduced me to this channel and ur personality. She said her bros back in the day used to watch this over n over all the time n she hated how stupid it was... we laughed hard consistently cuz we agree with you, thanks Channel Awesome.
Bimmy and jimmy
What Hawk would have eventually ended up as if he had remained in Cobra Kai at 4:23! I guess Nostalgia Critic wasn't exactly a big fan of his look, and character with that being said too! 😅(L.O.L.!)
Funny enough, Captain America: The First Avenger did the same thing, there was a moment when a bunch were reading Captain America comics in the movie.
yes, but they at least explained that he was basically a movie star and entertainer, in this movie they never explain why or how the game and the move can exist in the same universe... I think you get what I'm saying....
Tristan Hartup Except it worked in Captain America because he was made into a sort of army mascot after getting the super serum.
also in the rampage (2018)
they also showing arcade cabinet of rampage within the movie
