Bit of a random fact, but the reason Kimber-Smith only got 7 points for Class D victory was that there were too few starters in the Class. From reading a BTCC forum, I found out that a new rule was introduced shortly after about the number of finishers needed in each class to score points and Geoff retrospectively lost all his points from Oulton! Avoiding falling foul of this, was probably one of the reasons Vauxhall entered a third car for Jeremy Rossiter later in the year.
This is when BTCC car racing was much better, with better normal showroom cars that had been uprated and strengthened unlike todays space frame with a bodyshell type of car as used now
