    I'd love an updated/powerful USG with no AP or screen. All for an aggressive price. I'm thinking of deployments where your ISP comes in at a weird place in your house (like a basement in my case). I'm the type of person who would probably turn the AP in a USG off to ensure I'm connecting to my "main" properly placed AP. I may also just be crazy. lol.

      Couldn't agree with you more!!! I use my own Cloud Key Controller, and don't want (and never have wanted) an integrated controller like ALL the Dream Machine's have. I just want a modern replacement for my USG-3P, and that's it. I have my own switches and Access Points. Is it too much to ask for just a modern replacement for the USG-3P????

    a standalone ap\gateway managing the unifi network could be a game changer for small offices here in Italy! can't wait to test it out

      @briccimn Před 9 měsíci

      Sono completamente d'accordo con te, Federico.
      I totally agree, the game changer that we waited for soooo long time!
      It most likely let us avoid to put in too many devices with several points of failure and costs like at least 1 Cloud-key, and and at least 1 AP, without putting in the UDM base, which can't be usable in every environment.

    This is what I've been waiting for. I'm using a USG at home and don't need a full 1U rack option. This would be what I need.

    • @Verminator151029
      @Verminator151029 Před 10 měsíci

      Not so fast. Your USG is just a router. This appears to be a router, a wifi access point, and MAYBE even have its own controller, that you likely DON'T want!!!!

    Great to see new product, but I'm simply baffled at the 1Gbe WAN port. 5yrs ago, sure. But for 2023/2024, I feel they are just shooting themselves in the foot not having 2.5Gbe WAN. Where I live, Spectrum is finally getting some competition from a new fiber company. They are starting residential prices at $70 for 1Gbps and 2Gbps for $90. I'm sure a lot of my clients will be jumping on board and the only option, if they go 2Gbps and I want them to get into Unifi, is an almost $400 UDM Pro. Just makes no sense, SMH.

    I just sent a Unifi Dream Router to a small office and I liked it for being good for a small office, but the form factor was a little annoying, and the limit of only 2 apps limits further use.

    I know it is lower end hardware but would love to swap out my USG with something of this form factor with >GbE speeds as I don’t need an NVR or 8 port switch of the UDM Pro but I think one is in my future none the less.

  • @technerd9655
    @technerd9655 Před 11 měsíci +4

    This isn't what I am waiting for. i'm waiting for a UDM/UDR type device that supports Multi-Gig WAN and LAN. At least 2.5Gbps, if not 5Gbps (yes, I know it's rare and has limited support, but my understanding is that it's technically the same standard as 2.5Gbps, 802.3bz[ed] NBASE-T). I have 1.5Gbps DOCSIS 3.1 (I think) download speeds from Rogers, but limited to 1Gbps (and really more like 500Mbps) in a USG, the pricing offered by Rogers was better with 1.5Gbps than with slower speeds. To stick with UniFi and be able to use 1.5Gbps WAN, I'd need to go 10Gbps with the next gen gateway.

  • @sapatomaluco

    I have an USG router + cloud key v1 with active/backup WAN links that is fixed vertically on a narrow hidden area that cannot accommodate a rack-mountable Dream Machine. I am suffering with throughput limitations and don't have an option. The Dream Router only has one WAN port. We need a replacement for the USG.

  • @haplopeart
    @haplopeart Před 11 měsíci +1

    Replacement for the USG is way over due. I think that is actually the UXG-Lite.
    MY only quible is that any actual replacement should be featuring at least a 2.5G Wan if not 5 or 10.

  • @MosheKatz
    @MosheKatz Před 10 měsíci

    I have a central controller that I use for family and friends, so I really need a modern replacement for the USG that doesn't have an integrated controller. Hopefully the Next Generation Gateway Lite is that product. (And hopefully it has better IPv6 support than the USG, which often goes into a boot-loop when IPv6 is enabled.)

  • @Reedith

    If it could run unify, protect as well and hold a hard drive, that would be wonderful or an SSD like an M .2 because right now, it’s really expensive to put Protect and a network into a clients home. There really isn’t a good way to do it because the udr Most clients want more than three or four cameras.

    I just bought a UDR 2 weeks ago.
    My ISP comes on the 2nd floor and I need an AP for the first floor.
    Should I wait for this USG or buy an U6-Pro ?

  • @kylef4641
    @kylef4641 Před 11 měsíci +1

    Can they just make another USG type thing without WiFI.. like why would I want to pay for WiFi built into one when I'm going to be buying separate access points? We need something between the dream router and dream machine but with both power and price in mind.

      @@MactelecomNetworks Well where is it then? They are at least a year or 2 behind already and most of us with USG-3P's have had them for well over 5 years....maybe even 7 years and STILL no update for it? Remember when they had Early Access? (I don' think they have it anymore do they?). There were products in there that NEVER made it to market and they were always "sold out" anyway. Probably not even real devices! Maybe just mock-ups of prototypes that were never even actually produced. Ubiquiti used to be the company everyone else wanted to be. Now they're just 2000 late in everything! SOOOO disappointing to see them fall this far. Maybe they started subscribing to this DEI BS where talents, knowledge and experience no longer has a bearing on anything.

    Unifi Express, when the design team uses a Mac Mini on their desk, and just happen to have a ruler next to it. I'm sure they could do better, but nothing wrong with it, Good Designers Copy, Great Designers Steal. ;-)

  • @marksapollo
    @marksapollo Před 11 měsíci +2

    Poor that it only has gigabit ports. Even home internet speeds are at 10GB in some places and that is growing, once the fibre is installed the only limiting speed factor is the equipment at each end.

      Don't hold your breath!!! Ubiquiti has been notorious for coming out with new stuff that NEVER makes it into mainstream. Many Early Access new items never made it into the general Unfi Store...ever! But as others have said, any replacement for the USG-3P MUST have at least 2.5Gbps throughput and preferably with IDS turned on!
