It's strange how a songs can be projected so differently that trigger different emotions. Birdy's version makes me feel pain and loss but Ed sings in a way that feels to me like a nostalgic sunday... both of them are so great yet so unique

I love all three versions I've heard so far. It takes talent to write a song worth covering so Bon deserves a ton of credit, and the original is brilliant. Birdy's version is so sick - one of my favourite things to listen to. First time hearing Ed's cover and I really like this too. No need to pick favourites as they all have more talent than most and I hope they keep putting out good shit to listen to.

Bon Iver's original is still my fav out of all the versions. Something about it makes the feel more genuine. That and the way and reason he wrote the whole album that skinny love was in, makes it my fav.

Honestly, I'm a fan of Ed, and I love this cover.
BUT Bon Iver make you feel what this song really means. The self hatred, the anger, the disappointment (of yourself mainly, of life), the despair and in the same time the little hope of finding love.
This song is a masterpiece.
Normally Ed is 100% with it with his covers and songs, but when Bon Iver sang it, it seemed like the original purpose was passion and pain and wanting something to last that was slowly breaking. I understand this is a cover and both Ed and Birdy (I actually have birdy's version on my iPod) may have interpreted it differently, but I feel like this is one song in my opinion is so emotional and filled with something in the lyrics that was a little polished in both of the covers. Don't get me wrong the covers are still enjoyable but Bon Iver, in my opinion still reigns as the best version.
