      That's not exactly true.
      He had 32 points in his first 24 games (22 before the WJC and 2 after he came back). So he had 62 points over his last 39 games for a 1.59 points-per-game pace. Over a full 65 game season, that 104 points.

      Technically I think there are 68 official games in the OHL per season, so he potentially could've reached 109 points but he would've gone to the WJC so he wouldn't have played the full 68 games.
      But anyways yes I do think he had even more in the tank and I think he'll be elite in the league

I d put him in Kingston next year because he missed one year of playing hockey and the habs can go back in the lottery next year as well. Just to be clear Habs fans here’s what “very good player” means.
    Seguin
    O’Rielly
    Zibanejad
    Lindholm
    These are all certified top line centres. Would you be upset if Shane Wright became the same level player as these? Because this is what the scouts believe he will be. Not every 1st overall pick has to be a franchise altering player, or a generational talent.

      Generational talent such as McDavid or Matthews end-up asking 12m per season anyway.
      Playoff team have depth. I'd be realy happy with Suz and Wright as center, making around 7m/8m each, putting up 70/80pts each.
      Now you have a realyyyyy good 1-2 punch, who can score but also be reliable in defense.

    Tony, your best podcast so far! I’ve known about Simon Snake Boisvert for some time. This guy really thinks outside the box. He has a track record to prove it. He’s very calm and collected, he’s not a brash person trying to impress you à la Pierre Mcguire. He doesn’t say what people want to hear. We’ll see about his predictions, time will tell. But I must say, they are disconcerting.

    Like his perception on Trevor Timmins - at drafting, Timmins hits lots of singles - very few home runs - IF you want to be a competitive team - you need difference makers - not depth players that you can typically obtain every July 1st usually at a bargain basement price

    Shane Wright is a darn good hockey player with tremendous upside. There are many variables to consider when you come to a thorough conclusion with respect to where a player will be at 22-23 years of age which nobody has control over when making predictions. Some develop better than others but nobody has a crystal ball to tell us where a given player will be in a few years from now. Shane Wright has high end skills where you need them the most in the offensive categories. He is a Top 6 forward ! Who does not want that? Habs have been poor on player development over many years up until recently when we finally gave some young players a chance to play and develop on centre stage. His shot is devastating which is something many players in the NHL don't have at the moment. We will definitely have quite a PP with Suzuki, CC and Wright bending those sticks. There is a lot more creativity indeed. Our depth chart is by far the best in years but The Snake seems to keep a knock on the Habs for some reason. As Wright matures through the bumpy roads ahead, I am sure he will be a solid contributor to a winning formula in the years ahead. Not all players drafted make it through but we need skills offensively which Shane Wright definitely has. We will definitely revisit this conversation in a few years from now. Thanks Tony for a great job with your Sick Podcast! Take care! Habsrule!

    Good show Tony, I don't understand any of the haters on the guest. Personally I'm not into sheeps, love the different opinions, this scout was open and didn't seem bias and he seems to know his stuff. Although disagree with his take on Trevor Timmins. You forget he's Anglo and pressure to select French players at all cost AKA Louis Leblanc. Not to mention the recycled coaches we had. We're they really helping our propespects at the time. Definately not like St.Louis. the biggest thing about MTL was that they don't deevelop players this has nothing to do with Timmins which is why is bottom picks always work out because those goes had the hard working mentality and didn't need outside forces to help them. They are so many factors. I will continue to defend Timmins. Of course he made mistakes but...

  • @BrianK49
    @BrianK49 Před 2 lety +1

    Boisvert indicated that Shane Wright lacks a "WOW" factor (of dominance) to his game. I saw (TV) Suzuki play a handful of OHL games and wondered how he was such a prolific and consistent scorer (he did not seem to 'dominate' play on the ice). If Wright can be at least as good as Suzuki, IMHO it would be worthwhile to take him as the #1 selection in this NHL Draft class - just my opinion.
