I am one of the long-time followers of your channel. I started taking interests in PC building when the GTX 10 series were launched, and you are one of the best techs CZcamsr that offered a detailed review of the cards from the perspective of the user. Channels like Gamer Nexus is good too, but their perspective is more towards scientific, charts, and numbers.
Not a lot of people followed your advice because of your conservative takes, particularly when it comes to spending more to get more. I was one of them. It is like a learning curve, you disagree with his advice, build your own PC, live with it for years, only to find out that Tech Deals have a valid point.
Now, I am paying more attention to your advice, and I look forward for more build series from you. Cheers!
What do you do after building multiple pcs ?
Yeah, sometimes I worry about these extra confident voices that controverse with many other opinions, but I honestly never found any awry point he made.
Are u from wkwk land
What about building some more pcs
What quality of a video this was! Thank you so much! Details such as why buy certain SSD's was really appreciated. Video didn't feel 45 minutes long, it was engaging.
I really like how you aren't afraid of clear judgements. It's very easy to say "This is better if you want" to people who don't know if they should want it. Knowing which upgrades do and don't matter is useful advice. Looking forward to your 2023 version with Intel 14th-gen chips.
Flat out the BEST buying guide content out there. Practical, and not into telling people just what they want to hear. Good stuff, as always.
Back to your old form, I really appreciate your honest input as well as your concise reasoning for making the decisions ( even if you are cannibalizing your viewer base when they realize you just set them up for a few years longer :) and not come back at every video notification ) Please continue the consistency and frequency of your uploads. I await the next one.
You push the most expensive options sometimes needlessly but I have watched a few videos of yours over the years and your usp is definitely the nuance and indepth detail you can go into in your videos. Keep it up I guess!
Love your vids. As always, very sound advice from your years of experience. The charts and benchmarks don't always tell the full story. Thank you! P.S.Wearing your Techdeals t-shirt now and it looks great!
As always, great content and very helpful information. I built a 13600k/RX 6800 XT system over Black Friday very similar to your recommendations for about $1600. This was my first build since a Ryzen 5 1600 back in 2017 (and I went AMD mostly due to your videos back then. That system is still going strong!) When I came back to the market, you were the first channel I looked for, though I didn't even know if you were still around. Thank the Maker you were! I've always loved your presentation style and very well-researched content: never change!
My 5600x bottlenecks at 1080p and 1440p for gaming. Is the the 13600k fast enough over a 5800x3d?
@@pandassudsnshine4125 On an average 13600k will be much faster than the x3D chip.
@@green_block thanks
Speaking strictly for myself, and I realize this won't be overly helpful but, your content is always informative, interesting and fun to watch. Pretty much anything you put out, I'd be happy to watch.
Amazing! Every single second of these video is gold, the problem I see is keeping the mentality we have some years ago and not updating it, this video helps a lot, in my mind was still good 1tb of nvme and 750w, but these video helped change it, now I can see the future clearly, thanks!
Received so much value from this video series. I really love the long video format. Much appreciated and happy New Years.
Hey Tech Deals, thank you so much for this playlist. I used these videos as the template and guide for my next build to replace my 2017 rig (R5 1600, 16gb ddr4 ram, GTX 1080). Got my parts ordered and eagerly awaiting my new build!
Great video Tech. Nice to see you are back and swinging for the fences with the video quality. Happy Holidays .
The real MVP, your insights and experience with PCs and the hardware you use is nice. Thanks for this.
You are a wealth of knowledge, 30 years of focus shines through strongly. Listening at 1.25 speed, even though you speak quickly is comfortable as your pronunciation is extremely good, thanks for this work.
I built my new 13700k , Z690 motherboard build today!
Thank you for your advice on upgrading the 9700k Tech Deals! 🏆👍
Damn! Fortunately, I held off buying a new pc while getting by with an i7-4790K and 980GTX . I've following several tech channels for a few years now, in anticipation of pulling out some greenbacks on the next best pc build. I happened upon your site and I'm really liking the straight talk without grey lines between quality vs. bang for the buck good value. I'm an appreciative subscriber now and will certainly not pull the trigger without some input from you. Thank you!
I do like this content. I upgraded my machine back in 2020 from a 4670K to a 10600K still running a 1080TI I have 64GB of DDR4 3600MHZ RAM. since My monitor is only 1080p my PC still serves me pretty well. When I as upgrading I watch loads of Tech Deal video to help me decide of my purchases and get the best deal for my money.
i love hearing you talk about PCs not many talk about real world use and feel
Still watching your videos years after I started. Still enjoying them.
It blows my mind that people still argue about 16gb vs 32gb on 1000-2000$ machines. I boot up RDR2 and within 10 minutes my RAM usage is 16gb with just a few things in the background.
True. 32 is the new 16. There's no more point in arguing.
I’m on 64GB DDR4 since Tech recommended it 2 years ago… was already on 32GB since 4yrs ago. I like it comfortable :)
@@mich5528 Yes. Two years ago I upgraded from 16GB to 32GB (DDR4) when MSFS 2020 recommended it. The cost was minimal. I just built an i5-13600K machine and got 32GB of DDR5 for only $123. I've been considering over the past couple of days whether I should just go ahead and take the jump to 64GB?
Yeah kudos to them i wish. Man 4 yrs back id have 10 tabs of chrome with photoshop open and it would eat 16gb in no time.
@@zingwilder9989 I don’t need it for MSFS…
But if u start content creation… like video editing
I can keep Resolve open while gaming
I love the perspective you adopt. As a cheap bastard, when I hear your very logical and sound arguments I both feel resistance ("ouch that's way too much money to spend on X") but also a kind of relief because some other voice inside of me thinks "live, for once, don't just limit yourself to cover the basics". It's quite exhilarating.
Just because of your videos and hardware unboxings, I went down with 5600 + 6600 and I have zero regrets ! Thank you computer guy !
Thank you! This video has been very helpful and eye-opening. We are living in different times and lots of changes are happening and we are adapting to them. Budget-wise, everything has moved-up and we see a big jump in performance.
Very well-done Sir! 🙂I'm a newcomer to the channel. Part 1 & Part 2 was truly excellent. That is the best build guide I've ever seen. Thank you. 👍
Videos like this are why I love this channel so much. "If this, then do this. If you are doing that, then do that"
As always, best buy advises and proposals. Am happy am following your channel. Am upgrading my PC to 13600K from 7700K and was straggling mainly on the motherboard choice. So clear now. Thank You for the great work !
yes please stories from your experience is exactly what some of us what to hear. your experience is invaluable
As always, a well balanced advice. Thanks for keeping things in perspective!
I paired a i5-13600K with a 3070ti all in a Cosair 4000D air flow, Cosair 1000w psu, 32gb, 2TB. It runs beautifully on my 32in 240hz Samsung Odessey. In 2-3 yrs I will most likely upgrade the gpu but for now it it runs great without breaking the bank.
💪odyssey gang! It's such a great monitor. I have the exact same build aside from I went with 3080 evga FTW.
Do you really need 1000W for this build? i just bought 650W and now I am hesitating that it is enough for 13600k + 3070ti combo
Love your videos. Keep it up!!! Very helpful to share your knowledge. As someone who build custom PC's on the side. Its helpful
38:58. Bought a Windows 11 Pro key as described. Worked perfectly with no issues!! I'm surprised but loving it. Many thanks!
Loved it, thanks for the video!
The value discussions you have here are very helpful. I haven't built a PC in a minute and am looking to do it now. I think the same way but am not up on current tech.
Great video Tech Team!!!!!!!! Break out's are awesome ideas. Topic specific. All parts of PC parts for sure
Great video, thanks! I've been in the industry for decades as well and your advice is spot on. I haven't built a new PC in a long time and was looking for recommendations. Solid!
Glad it helped!
This is only my 2nd video from this channel. I like this guy immediately.
This video is awesome! I have a 15-8400! Getting the parts for a new build, only need the CPU, Motherboard, and a power supply and then we BUILD! Yay!!!!
Straight to the point. Love this guy's stuff.
this is THE best pc build guide I have ever come across so far. Great job dude!
Glad you like it!
Liked it... good info and blunt but true comments.. Thnx for taking the time to share your views and knowledge!
Thank you for making this series. I have zero experience but wanted to learn and try building myself a gaming PC rather than buying pre-built or paying someone to build one for me. I've been worried I'd be in over my head (shocker, I am), but your videos have been really great in helping me understand the process/what to look for when picking parts.
You may have answered this in another video I haven't watched yet, and I apologise if so, but should the maker of a GPU matter? I see RTX 3070s with the same specs, but their prices vary depending on whether they're made by EVGA, Zotac, ASUS, etc. Is sticking with better-known brands worth the price increase?
Love this content, thanks so much. Delivered with verve and expertise. Very professional.
Thank you for an entertaining and informative video! Also, thanks for the stars, I'm going to put them on my Christmas tree 😀
This guy always has clear and concise videos, love the effort and quality!
Glad you like them!
Exactly my thoughts on upgrading, one of the few videos on yt on think process how to upgrade and how exactly make decision to your requirements in buying pc parts and make new pc. Thank you very much.
I loved this video and I’ll listen to you talk about any aspect of PC building. :D
Thank you for this well thought-out and informative walk through on each part choices. I ended up going with a 13600K paired with a 3080 build and it's fantastic
Yeah the 13600K was the right choice, i'm getting it too next month.
It would be helpful to do an upgrade guide for different types of end users for different components. I’m sure this would be difficult, but some sort of interactive guide would really be cool.
Indeed, the challenge would be there are SO MANY CONFIGURATIONS, and more importantly, use cases, what do you cover?
If you have an AM4 motherboard, upgrade to the 5700x or the 5900x and a new cooler if you can afford it. If you have an old intel system, you’re basically doing a new system build to the 13600k; new cpu, motherboard, cooler, RAM, SSDs, etc.
@@TechDeals it would have to be a some what general case. Like 1500$ Intel and amd config. Do a bench mark between the 2, swap between ddr4 and 5 and do a bench mark, then do like a 2500 to 3k $ config and bench mark that as well. That way people will get an idea on if they really need 3k$ pc or a 1500$ pc would be enough for them.
That way they can also see if u need to cost cut, where would some one like you cost cut.
I think that would be an awesome video lol.
Infinite possibilities. I.e if you have a 6 year old 6700k, you can essentially throw everything away and start again
@@Chris-yc3mm yea, a full new build. If some one is looking for a new build, then this would be for them. Upgrading parts is always easier, u upgrade to what's compatible with your other stuff. Building a new? That needs some guidance :)
What a fantastic video!
Sat an watched the whole thing in one sitting
Such good info and some LOL moments.
Some of the best advice I've heard. Subscribed!
Deep dive into a topic on specific PC part is far more relevant for me and it will contain some knowledge we could not find anywhere else on CZcams. Builds around specific Processor or PC builds in general target a certain viewerbase, that are actually looking to build a PC. Most of us are not in that process.
Deep dive on SSDs will age better than one on GPUs or CPUs. I've heard that question on this channel many times and The Actual History of SSDs would could be a star of this channel.
Hello and thank you for your long long uploads with excellent explaining on pc-ware! I love the channel! I have a question about SSD's. I recently found the Seagate Firecuda 530 with a longer lifespan than any other SSD. I would like to see your opinion about it.
Surprisingly great video. Thank you.
the patience of this man..Respect from India!!
One of the best CPU Builder videos in years.
awsome video. thanks for the info
Thanks for this video, helped me alot. What is your opinion about the Kingston KC3000 SSD?
Just paired a 13600K with a Z690 motherboard, because board is last gen I got it at a discount and allowed me to reuse my DDR4 memory and Installed a 1tb 990 pro. The biggest budget build I've ever done Is the best build I've done!
Thank you so much, I'm looking at a mid range system and looking at the 13600k CPU , you put everything in prospective and a guide to buying parts that are better matched and cost less.
I haven't done a build for some time and your video is very helpful , was comparing the new i5 vs i7 and yes not a lot of price difference between the two, but the i7 generates more heat and a lot of people say a 360 AIO is needed . And the i5 can run a smaller AIO like a 240 and some good savings to spend on something else.
That corsair Airflow case, is the best case I ever had during my 22 years of building my own PCs.
I'm here for PSU advice, and I got what I wanted and needed to know. Thank you!
18:00 this guy speaks facts and I also bought a 1 GB HD as extra storage in the early 1990s. In today's dollars, you don't want to know how much that cost. It was for a Macintosh that had a base hard drive of about 32 MB.
Thank you very much. I learned more from you then anyone on CZcams or even from the pc store i am going to buy my new Gaming PC.
Thank you! That was such a great load of information ! What is your take about the 4070 to pair with the i5 13600k instead of a 3080?
Great video sir. I'm still on a i7 920 I put together in 2008. Finally going to put a new PC together. Thanks for such an informative video
Glad I could help!
My last pc build was in 2016 and the landscape has changed. Just built a new pc on am5 with ddr5. Went from an i5-6600k to a ryzen 9 7950x.
Thank you for this information when building a pc ssd drive most appreciated.
Great video!!!
17:15 - I'm into in 2001. So you can also recollect pentium 2, 3 , k6-2 , k6-3 cpu days. sweet memories
loving the videos
Great job as usual 👍
I think I watched all your benchmark videos and other stuff back in 2019-2020. I built my 3600 system and just now checking back on what is new. I watched some other channels too. Thanks for the sanity check even if it is the future now.
I'm in the ignore the i5 and i9 camp, get the i7 and 32gb of RAM. I'd rather save the $300 today to get a mostly identical experience in everything but cinebench than get $300 more for the CPU when I sell it. I also couldn't go back down to 6 cores from 8, even if the 13600k is 24 threads until you disable the 'e' cores. I'm honestly torn on DDR4 or DDR5. The prices are getting so much closer together. I think particularly if wanting RGB RAM, I'd go DDR4 since 4 sticks is reasonable on DDR4 while it is not on DDR5 due to the severe speed limitations of 4 sticks on DDR5.
Great content thank you.
👍👍👍
Thank you ever so much for this guide. I viewed it in reverse - that is to say I placed my orders over the weekend and came upon your video only today, Monday. I am renewing a 2019 build - new CPU, RAM, and flushing out my HDDs for SSDs. I do not play games, but for a round of chess or solitaire on my iPad from time to time, and I am ever so conscious of heat in my PC cubby. I primarily use my PC for Photoshop/Lightroom and some humongous Excel spreadsheets. Consequently, I am porting over a GTX1660 to the new build. Photoshop, I recently read benefits more from processor channels and speed vs. the parallel power of a modern GPU. CORRECT me if I’m wrong! I’m using the i5 13600K, the Samsung 2TB M.2 (and using 2 old Samsung M.2 in secondary roles), and new Samsung 8TB SATA drives-will replace spinning storage. I’m using 2 sticks of 32 GB DDR5 ram. Seems like our minds were in sync. Thank you for giving me confirmation. Cheers
This is my guy! Always very logical with explaining what you need and you don’t. I have a system with a 9900k and 3070 and it does everything I need on 1440p 144hz monitor.
I don't watch a lot of the content on this channel, but I do enjoy these longer why I chose something and what other options you can consider videos
Neat & Clean presentation
Thank you so much for this guide. I was able to build my gaming PC with similar configuration. Core i5 13600kf, msi mpg z790 edge WiFi ddr4, (gigabyte Aero g wasn't available, and I wanted the white board), Corsair 5000d airflow such a beautiful case. 32 GB Ram, but plan to get 32 GB more next month, 1tb wd black 770 m.2, plan to get 2tb more here next month, 850 watt gold psu, deep cool, Corsair elite h 150i AIO. And finally for GPU, initially thought for 4070ti, but it was selling for around 1000 usd, but I was able to get 4080 gigabyte Aero g for 1250 usd. And rs 7800 xtx was like 1450 usd. Very happy with the build, although I did overshoot the budget but I needed the aesthetic too. So far very happy with gaming performance :)
24 minutes in and this man just added $1000 to my budget XD. What a great sales man
just got the same 3070 xc3 ultra a week ago, I love it! did an undervolt and it runs at 62c max and consume less than 200w
I'm about to enter the start of "year three" of my 10th-Gen i7 build. Two great years of gaming on my 10700F with a 3070Ti... it's a great system... no need to upgrade on this end.
Your computer knowledge is incredible. You have a good vision for the future when you build a computer. And this is said by someone who is no stranger to computers. Congratulations
Wow, thank you!
Thanks for the video. My old PC i7 4770k + RX 580X still working fine but it is so old that I am deny of upgrading to a Win 11 and with the launch of AM5 Socket really thinking of building a new machine as even my HAF932 casing is too old with no USB 3.0 port and required expensive 230mm fans replacement (Already replace once back then and it is costly) to make it work with a new system. Gave me a lot to think about and pointers to plan my build. Excellent video!!👍
Impressive. Your video card thoughts are spot on. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Since having a Ryzen 9 with 64gb after years of i5's and Ryzen 5's with 8gb, 12gb, or 16gb of RAM (because it was technically enough at that point in time) ... I will never go back to having just the bare minimum ever again. Having more than enough (and then a little extra) is absolutely worth it. My old Ryzen 7 3700x with 32gb of RAM was only just barely enough with high RAM usage already hitting 28gb ... and whilst I could have held out for another year it was on an x370 board with 4x8gb of mismatched RAM and I was just fed up with slight idiosyncracies here and there. Snapped a deal on the 5900x and just doubled down on 64 gb, and it clicked how much better it is having a solid amount more than enough, both cores and threads, though I'm a heavy multitasker in my workflow (not multithreading eg: video rendering, but multitasking eg: multiple Adobe apps and multiple browsers with dozens of tabs plus office suite etc). Next time I'm going for at least 16cores and 64gb if it's in 12-24months, maybe more.
@@tilapiadave3234 actually I was more thinking of the i5 12400 or R5 5600x types with that comment, and me deciding to jump up to the R9 instead of going with the widely suggested "all you need" suggestion of the time (and being very glad that I did).
The 13600k is a beast of an i5 - it has the same kind of feel in the market as the i5 2500k did way back when. The 12600k is still pretty damn good too. The hybrid designs are a breath of fresh air for the mid-range and way more attractive than a standard 6c/12t for their multipurpose usage, bringing all the best of both worlds for the masses.
If the 13400 brings hybrid down under 200 it will be a new budget king with performance that will stand for years.
my ram usage excedes 16 gbs but no more then 22 gbs in multitasking ur point about it is really valid bcz upgrading from 16 to 32 GB is like a very great experience end peace of mind
Very interesting, cheers!
Oops, I just saw this vid after I ordered parts for my new pc and based on your guide I messed up on getting a B760. Upgrading from a i7 7700k/gtx 1080ti to a i5 13600k/rtx 4070. I don't have a budget limit so I could have gone all they way to a i9 13900k/rtx 4090 but I much prefer energy efficient itx builds. Good guide, explains a lot to newer pc builders and I learned a few things. Most of the mainstream CZcams techs just point to getting the cheapest thing and don't think about it.
So b760 can be paired with 13600k with no problem?
Woaho , when rouge tech is coming back?
You are awesome dude, thank you for the info. One of the reasons why I like this CPU is because of that fact that although it uses a lot of power in comparison to let's say an i7-8700k, it's half of what an i9-13900k would use. I already have an RTX 3070 ti but my CPU is an i7-8700k and I'm looking for an upgrade and this just seems to be the sweet spot. That tip about the DDR4 vs DDR5 memory was very helpful. I do not believe that I will be purchasing an RTX 4090 anytime within the next 5 years.
New to the channel. The only two videos I have watched are this one and the previous. I understand that there should be more videos in this series, and I will hopefully see them when they arrive.
Regarding $2,000 being a midrange computer, that just seems crazy to me. I fully understand that there are computers put there selling for $5,000 or more, so I think you are technically correct. But personally, I see a $2,000 computer closer to a high end computer. :)
I don't think are are wrong to say "you pay more, you get more." However, I think it is important to consider whether someone is likely to church their entire computer when it is "obsolete" or try and keep some pieces. I would be very interested to find out how many people gradually upgrade their custom built computers or just upgrade the whole thing. Which would you recommend?
I am trying to start my own local/small SI and I often get torn on what will/should sell. The first computer I built to sell ended up being an i5-11400F, Radeon 6600, 32GB RAM, 500GB NVMe + 2TB HDD, an MSI motherboard (that I really like), one of those $50 cases (you're right, never again), a 650W power supply, and some upHere fans. Bought everything for about $908 after tax and am selling it for $1,033. It can game relatively well, it can stream, it can do every day things...but it has not sold in 5 weeks. Maybe it is because I am only selling local, but considering what I see other computers selling for - I am kind of dumbfounded.
Anyways, I look forward to the continuation of this series.
yes I would like a historic SSD video. I also have dozens of launch ones from the early 2000s
I own an i5 8400 and i couldnt agree more with your final thoughts. Even on lowest possible settings and 720p resolution games like Elden Ring and Cyberpunk will still drop to ~40 fps in CPU demanding areas. Recently upgraded from GTX 1050ti to RX 6600 but the fps drops are identical as CPU is simply not fast enough. Looking to buy either i5 12400f or R5 5600 as they both fit perfectly into my budget!
Very helpful and informative video. I'm building a mini itx pc with a 13600k 5600 ddr5 and rtx 3090 and for my needs I'm sure it will last me at least 5 more years. (my previous pc that I still have is an i5-6500 gtx 1060 and I have it since 2016-2017) so I won't upgrade for at least 4 years.
good points about the ram and storage - i have the same point of view on the matter
Thank you for the great video.... it gives some proportions but i was wondering if i can ask a question related to a build im trying to do, if you use 4080 GPU, on a z790 motherboard, Would there be a difference for using 2x16 DDR5 5600mhz(205 Euros in Portugal) to 4x16 DDR4 3600mhz (210 Euros in Portugal)? Which Ram would be preferable?
Good series! I'm building two systems right now the i5 and a 5950xt I have had the part ls for awhile just need to build them. I'm thinking about using the i5 just for gaming and the AMD for my other needs
