Public Safety dispatchers received reports of a house fire early Friday morning on Juneberry St near Sweet Shade St in the city of Irvine.
Upon arrival first responders discovered heavy smoke coming from the garage windows of the two-story detached home. The occupying resident of the home heard smoke alarms, went downstairs, opened the garage door, saw the heavy smoke, closed the door, & escaped safely out the front door.
A Tesla SUV plugged into a charger and an Audi A5 were both damaged in the blaze, but OCFA firefighters acted quickly and extinguished the fire before it consumed the rest of the home and nearby residences.
No injuries were reported to the homeowners, pets, or firefighters at the time of posting.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Orange County Fire Authority.

Thatâs what happens when you donât call a tesla certified technician to install the charger đ€Ł
Wondering who installed the charger?
Good reminder to keep all fire blocking intact in the garage.
Tesla Lithium Ion battery charger didn't stop charging when it reached 'Full Charge'.(Like the Diving Boat Fire)
People are too often using 240v outlets/receptacles designed for a low-duty cycle Clothes Dryer, and NOT rated for continuous high amp charging for hours at the parts designed spec limit.
I love EVs!
Nice camera work J. Super hi def makes for a sharp crystal clear image. Well done. Glad no one injured.
Thanks so much Andy!!đ
Thanks for the coverage. I wonder if it was related to the Tesla and if the charger was installed by a professional?
Did the app notify the Tesla owner his car was on fire??
not sure - I hope so!
"Danger" scale = over-generalizing itself. Not ALL thing Tesla are junk. Not ALL things Tesla= great.
Sooo did the house catch fire WHILE the car was charging in the garage? Or did the house catch fire BECAUSE of the car charging in the garage. It looks like the house caught fire while the car was charging, not BECAUSE it was charging. The Tesla looks dirty from the smog but is clearly in perfect working order by the sign of the sentry mode activating as the firefighters continue to walk past it. If it had caught fire because it was charging, the car would be completely engulfed as the entire floor is a battery AND that rubber charger cord would have been toast long ago. Also, the firefighters arenât flooding either of those cars with water which they would have done if either were on fire.
To be honest I donât know what the (actual) cause of the fire was, and probably never will. The title says that the home caught fire while the Tesla was charging, because thatâs that I filmed and actually witnessed. Iâd have to get into contact with the homeowner and hope we wants to fill me in to actually know for sure what the cause was. When I talk to the PIO at the next scene Iâll see if they will fill me in - and if they do Iâll post an update.
@@LAOCtv Honestly I didnât even think someone would have responded to my comment. I own a Tesla and while theyâre not perfect, the cars get a lot of unjustifiably negative and bias press. For example the over-reporting of Tesla firesâŠ.. even though gas cars catch fire at a far more alarming rate⊠internal combustion engineâŠ. Fire is literally in the name. I thought thatâs what was happening here, but I was wrong. Slight overreaction haha! Thanks for the reporting.
@@Soh90 I totall understand, and also agree with you. I love Tesla products - can't wait to own one! When I cover these scenes the lowest priority is for the first responders to keep me informed - which I understand. TO follow up would take a lot of time and would probably not even net too much additional information. When I request information they tell me " it's under investigation" and it stays that way. Thatnks for leaving a comment though. Good or bad I want to know what people are thinking.
@@Soh90 also - your Kawasaki ZX6R is badass!!
I wonder what started this fire??

Smoke alarms save lives đ
I could swear I just made a video warning about this
Yet....ANOTHER reason I will NOT purchase a Tesla. These things seem to be absolute fire traps that are happening way too frequent for my comfort!
Battery problems emerging everywhere with electric cars including Tesla. Just don't buy electric cars!
Another reason to dislike the Tesla's đđ»ââïž
See kids this is why we don't buy Tesla's because they are garbage
