    I get it, being both the son of a preacher and an ex preacher myself. Its kind of hard to break the voodoo imagery pounded into your head since you were a kid. Now that I am much older and studied theology for most of my life, I feel good about my spirituality and feel sorry for those going to indoctrinated religious services to make sheeple. Lots of love and just know, one day all that crazy hell shit will go away and be seen as the bullshit it was made from.❤

    You grew up in a toxic environment shrouded in the love of Jesus - at least that's what the Christian say. You were program by that and it will be hard to completely shake that as you move forward in life... hence the fear during the plane ride home. Continue to love and respect the intelligent young man that you are and always look for the truth. Seek out those people that give love unconditionally. Christians have no idea how to do that even though that's what they speak endlessly about. You are a wise and amazing person.

    Yeah, the come down from alcohol alone seems to create a bit of paranoid thinking. It's no wonder you were recalling that vivid encounter with hate. It sounds like your better angels are making you question whether fighting fire with fire was the best way to combat their hatred. You have to ignore them next time instead of taking a passively aggressive approach. Alcohol can doesn't help us to make the best decisions. You sound like a great guy. On the other hand, you may have done some of them a favor. There's probably a lot of pent up repression within those protesters. There were probably a few of them envious that you were embracing your freedom inspite of their best efforts to bring you down.

  • @Pedigru

    Well I expected some of the comments already here. You come across as someone who knows there is a spiritual life. You don’t want to leave it but not sure how to nourish your spirit. I suggest looking for a Christian church that accepts gay people completely. They are around and you will find a lot of great people gay and straight who will be supportive of you and your beliefs. Figuring life out alone is almost impossible. 😊

    Tbh I understand the frustration of knowing there are groups out there who don't want to see you fulfilling your happiness the way you see fit. But to antagonize them like that won't do anything except for your own satisfaction. I don't agree with protesting gay rights, or anything lgbtq+ for that matter. But I also don't agree with being antagonistic instead of maybe having a conversation or simply turning the other way. Like is this a month of celebration or is this a month of pissing of those who oppose your position? One thing the lgbtq+ culture can do better than those of religion, is truly embracing everyone and shun negativity that isnt warrented.

    • @ryanhatcher8643
      @ryanhatcher8643 Před 23 dny +3

      We have been arrested, imprisoned, shunned by our families, left homeless, bullied, beaten, murdered and 'lawfully' executed around the world. Pur existence is still illegal in 71 countries. Making out in front of protesters pales in comparison, it is a flea on the back of a rabid dog. If civil conversations worked the Stonewall riot wouldn't have happened, we could have just asked the police nicely to not raid the pub, harass patrons and arrest them. But it was necessary and pride is the continuation of that movement. We no longer need to aggressively protest for our rights in much of the world, but the fact that an anti-LFBTQ+ rhetoric and movement still exists means pride is still necessary and sometimes it is necessary to be antagonistic

    Speaking as a straight person I think that the problem alot of people have with the pride parade is that it doesn't seem like it's about love and acceptance or equality. It rather seems like nothing more than perversion on parade. Surely you can understand that when you stand back and look at the way many of the participants are dressed and behaving. Those parades feel more like sexual predators on display rather than a legitimate attempt to show that gay people are regular people too. I think that a lot of decent gay people would agree with what I have said. No one is going to accept something that has the vibe of sexual predators coming after our children. Society will only take so much of that before they push back and that push back will be overpowering. So my advice is to present yourselves as decent people who simply want to be treated with equality, not as perverts who are out to promote all kinds of depravity.

    • @rodtucker1299
      @rodtucker1299 Před 16 dny +5

      As a gay man I agree with you totally! Love who you love but we don’t need to flaunt our sexuality to the world. Gay men need to have self respect and love for themselves. If you don’t live and respect yourself how can you expect others to do so.

    (This will take only 2-3 mins to read) James, what you are feeling is God calling to you. Though the protesters screaming "You're going to hell" at you isn't at all how we should evangelize, I think that you recognize that there might be some essence to what they are saying. I assume that as a man attracted to the same sex, you may have written off Christianity, but I am here to tell you that it is of the utmost importance for you to rediscover the faith, not as the antagonized young boy you once were, but as a grown man who yearns for the truth of the universe. As a former atheist, I took basic boiler plate level arguments like "If God why bad thing happen" and used them to justify my distance from the faith. Years later I had come to find that every question that I ever had and could ever possibly have had has been answered centuries ago. The historical evidence for Jesus Christ being crucified and resurrected is mountainous and we need to acknowledge the gift he has given. Remember that no matter what you have done, the holy spirit is still guiding you and wants you to turn to come to Christ. Think about it like this, if someone gives you a million dollars everyday, then tries to say hi to you just one time, are you going to pretend they are a ghost and walk right by them, or are you going to smile and greet them? God has given you so much, and would love for you to inherit the glorious kingdom of heaven. But if you demonstrate with your heart and actions that you don't want anything to do with him, then he will grant your wish and let you be apart from him, sending you to your second death. Please know that the self-righteous hateful people DO NOT REPRESENT CHRISTIANITY and are directly going AGAINST what Jesus taught. Being attracted to men is not a sin but engaging in that attraction is. We are all sinners and all fall short of the glory of God, but through our sincere faith in Christ, we can reach eternal life. I say all of this not as a stern lecture but as someone who genuinely wants the best for you. Have a blessed day!
