    The music is so good that I forgot the video was about a comparison.

    This just proves that with good music, it doesn't matter about the minuscule difference

    Applause for matching the sounds this close across platforms! And even more for brilliant musicianship and composition!

      He probably configured the keyboard to control both at the same time, in which case the output minus the audio differences between the platforms would be identical.

      @@Flashback_Jack An emulation software does react a lot different than a real synth. For that reason every parameter has to be matched by ear. For me a sign of great musicianship.

    A: Stacked hardware SEMs
    B: GForce OB-E

      HI Marius. Thanks for this test. The SEM is one of the synths I use a lot as software and have considered to add to my hardware collection. How many SEMs are stacked and how are they set to play duophonic? I thought they would just play monophonic with four VCOs if you connect them with CV/Gate. Is this something that is exclusive to the SEM Pro's MIDI-functionality?

    • @samprock
      @samprock Před 2 lety +1

      I was trying to guess which one is which. Instead listened which one I like more. The winner was one, deeper lows and more definition in higher range. B sounded flat(er), especially when flip between A/B/ Please tell me this is some EQ difference or else discrepancies in setup. Or is it?
      Buying 8 SEM-Pro's is not an option, VST is still sounds amazing. Just want to undestand. TNX!

    I agree with harpplant and the others - the music is wonderful! Impressive, and your timing is so good, playing the arpeggios. I think many don’t know the difficulty to play so evenly for that long. And then the matching of the patch is so good! Another GForce masterwork. Congrats to Dave and Chris!

    I owned an original SEM, and am thoroughly blown away by the OB-E. Staggering accomplishment! The instrument is beyond inspirational. And BTW, using the DX7 as a control keyboard will never give you velocity levels above 100. Sad fact from the very early days of MIDI

    Beautiful! I think A is the hardware, mostly because B is more in tune. That there's any doubt speaks for the quality of GForce's emulation, it really sounds good.

  • @pierredescamps9848

    To me (very subjective statements here):
    - A is HARWARE : has more "colour" "complexity" "depth", "3Dness" than B, it feels like you can hear the slightly different voices of each VCO ;
    - B is SOFTWARE : sounds more less complex and more compressed.
    The music sounds absolutely incredible.

    Yes, the hardware sounds a bit more organic, less flat, but it is reasonably close, also the choice is not really there bc who can find AND afford one of the extremely rare original synths? It probably costs a hefty 5- digit price. Beautiful composition.

    B sounded better to me on first listen, A sounds 'flatter', less alive, so I'm guessing it's the software. That said they booth sound very good... and now I see I was wrong! On a second listen I can hear the smoothness and depth in A but I was fooled by the brightness and movement of B. Amazing. Thanks

    I bought this ob-e vst - and think the arps sound great - its v easy to get an excellent result. I also have a SEM patchbay - but man .... this sounds better !!! Obviously its not analogue - but in terms of just get going with 8 modules of the sem its just so easy ... I know its not as bright as my SEM but it does sound very pleasant to the ear and lets face it - your average person cant tell the difference - and if you asked me to identify a SEM or a vst from within a track with other instruments going I really could nt tell.

    B scheint mir etwas lauter zu sein.

    • @mariusleicht
      @mariusleicht  Před 3 lety

      Definitiv ist B an einigen Stellen lauter, an anderen dafür A. Wie in der englischsprachigen Videobeschreibung erklärt, ist es bei der hier angewendeten Vorgehensweise nahezu unmöglich, Lautstärke und sonstige Einstellungen exakt und vor allem konstant zwischen beiden Systemen abzugleichen. Der originale 8-Voice, wie auch mein "Multitrack-8Voice" besteht aus 8 separaten Monosynthesizern und ich ändere im Verlauf des Stückes ständig dynamisch die Klangfarbe. Das muss nun zwangsläufig händisch an jedem Synthesizer einzeln erfolgen und zwar in 8 Durchläufen, jeweils für eine einzelne Stimme. Das kann zwangsläufig nur eine Annäherung werden. ;-)
