Just for the record, the station closed in 1966. The platform canopy on the up platform is now a listed building but there is planning application to demolish the old Express Dairy building adjacent to the station. We should be grateful that the station has survived intact for this amount of time however it is likely that it will be converted into two dwellings eventually. I have a great deal of material covering it's history as it has been a fascination of mine for a very long time.
I am happy to share information to those who seek it, however I am not the last word on the station but as stated, I have always maintained a fascination with it and thus have made it a personal ambition to collect as much material as possible.
The building next to the station was the old Express Dairy facility. You were initially on the long walkway that led over the entire station grounds and the branchline platform. Then you saw the smaller overpass (with holes in it) to the ex-down platform.
The station opened in 1860 as Colyton the branch came later. The station as built was just 2 platforms with 2 lines with that station building. When the branch to Seaton was opened it was renamed Seaton Junction. Under the Southern Railway they rebuilt the platforms in the 1920's putting in fast lines which is where the current single line is now. it closed in 1966 and the line singled in 1967 with the tracks being lifted in the years after. There was a line in the station platform by the main buildings until 1990 for engineers to use but that was lifted. since your video the platform footbridge with holes in it has been removed for safety reasons.
Station Footbridge has now been demolished (Late 2020). The Public Footpath bridge at the beginning is still there. This short film has given me some close ups of stuff I haven't seen for years and is useful thank you. Google Earth is quite good for exploring the area. Plenty of info on the web about the history. Plans for the Station Building Shown available from East Devon Council Planning Dept.
Love this, here is a link to my layout blog, where there is a more up to date video, if you wish to view it: www.newrailwaymodellers.co.uk/Forums/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=48422
