If Instagram is your jam, the wife posts some pictures every so often.

Nice step. I like the 80 20 idea
You bought an ex-military vehicle to convert into an offroad motorhome and only now are starting to question your sanity? I am so impressed and humbled by how good everything is, just awesome. Also if possible when your truck is finished could we get some man-cave/workshop projects so we your loyal viewers don't lose touch? Cheers from Australia
Quite envious of your skills. My grandfather was a master machinist who made all of his own hand tools, complete with drafted drawings, but I didn’t inherit the knack. Many of your viewers are probably like me imagining the making, without your expertise and capacity to “imagine and do” then saying frig I wish is could do that:) I have been a consumer products developer for a long time and I can confirm that the guys who can make stuff are usually the most gifted designers as they understand the constraints and opportunities in material, labour and costs.
This project of yours is a masterclass. Keep up the inspirational work!
As always, great job. Even though I am just starting, you keep me motivated with ideas on my build. Thanks.
I used to have dreams of buying an LMTV and outfitting it like you did. Thanks for ridding me of that demon!!
Glad be of assistance. :)
Well you’re not alone. If my wife knew I have a line item in our budget for 80/20 she would strangle me. Workbenches in the shop, projects, frames, even my standup desk is all 80/20. Being a journeyman toolmaker and a ME makes me dangerous with this stuff! Keep it up glad I’m not the only one!
This does make me feel better. :)
Nice work Chad. On the whole truck. Especially that backspash...
Hopefully we'll see you at Dave's in Centralia this summer
I’m planning on being there.
Truck is looking great! I like the placement of everything an the ladder design is awesome! I’m a few months from starting the habitat and seeing your build really helps reaffirm my design concepts (you know, since l’ll be copying a lot of your ideas 😂). One thing that nobody talks about in their expedition builds are the tools needed to do a quality build. Between buying the tools to work on the truck to all the metal working tools my tool budget has become a significant part of the overall budget. I really like to see a tour of your shop and how you came about owning all those cool tools!
I’ll do a walkthrough one of these days.
Nice ladder! The LMTV comes along nicely👍
add a gas strut, It will hold it open and in the closed position
Protect that floor asap! Nice work though.
Fantastic build! Would you mind showing details on the 3D printed brackets that hold the ladder up when stowed? These seem to "click in" rather easily, so I'm curious to see how strong the clips are when driving off-road. Would you mind linking to the STEP files for those brackets, too, by any chance? Are you using magnets at all?
Awesome
Fancy drill press =)
Well that was just cool. What is that sanding disk installation tool?
I had to go back and see what you were talking about. It is a storage / alignment tool I made in SketchUp and 3D printed for my 6” sander. I’ll post the STL file if you want to print some.
@@BrokeOverLandVery generous of you. Thank you. When I get into 3D printing i just may hit you up on your offer. BTW, you have taken an auction truck to a gem. Well done.
ouche'$
80% of your money goes into 20% of the build
Brutus keeps us broke also LOL, good job on the ladder, we use a plastic folding step, definitely not sexy at all compared to yours.
How you likeing the 8020? Would you use it again?
It’s debatable, if cost is not an issue, then 100% yes. It’s easy to work with and I still like the look. If I was going for a budget build then probably not.
Lmao… dude… nothing about your shop, tools and materials is broke. That amount of 8020 alone is enough to pay for avg Joe’s entire trailer build. With that said, im a fan of your work - you got skill, creativity and patience most people can just dream of. Ladder is sick. Amazing stuff.
First!!!!
