  • This webinar frames the ecosystem of alternative credentials in the workforce and higher education with respect to key challenges institutions face around designing and implementing alternative credential programs and offerings.
Dr. Amy Smith, CLO of StraighterLine, and Bruce Etter, Research Director, UPCEA, will share findings of a national empirical study on learners interest in pursuing alternative credentials and how institutional leaders perceive alternative credentials. Study results focus on students’ perceptions and reasons for choosing postsecondary education, their motivations and goals for expanding workforce skills, and their lived experience in terms of their journey through gaining an alternative credential.
    Learning Goals/Outcomes
We will examine alternative credentials from student and institutional leader perspectives: motivations, decision-making factors, and structural and cultural hurdles from those organizations that seek to offer and/or currently do offer alternative credentials
We will discuss the challenges encountered for both populations in relation to what they are currently experiencing or planning at their own organizations/institutions.
