Have a bit of obligatory historical lore about the Troopship you sunk today: "MV Duntroon" was a australian ocean liner built in 1939 for the Melbourne Steamship Company and only shortly in actual service before being called upon by the navy to be converted into an armed merchant cruiser. Found to be unsuited for the task she was quickly returned to her owners in november of the same year only to cause the first 24 losses of the Royal Australian Navy in World War II in 1940 by colliding and sinking the auxiliary minesweeper HMAS Goorangai in the Port Phillip Bay. A later notable moment saw her transferring the POWs of the german auxiliary crusier "Kormoran" in late 1941. Duntroon got involved in a second fatal collision in 1943, striking and sinking the destroyer USS Perkins without any loss of life. Her service during the war saw her servicing roughly 170.000 Troops including the repatriation of australian POWs during the course of 1946 and ended up serving for the occupation forces until 1948. After this she was returned to civilian life where she lived our her career in australian, hong kong and lasty african service until being laid up in 1967 and subsequently scrapped a year later in Singapore.
Major Phillip Bromley:"We're going carrier hunting!"
So fun fact, that light carrier Langley was previously CV-1, the first fixed-wing heavier than air aircraft carrier in the world. In real life, she was converted to a seaplane tender (as seen in this video) in 1936-37, and was sunk 27 February 1942 by Japanese level bombers crippling her and leaving her dead in the water, before being sunk by her escorting destroyers after she was evacuated.
That submarine commander was probably Buck O'Hare
I'm looking forward to a Silent Hunter and B-17 upload. I love the Friday uploads. It gives me something to watch on Friday on my day off.
Great episode and campaign. Ain't no stopping us now says Japanese admiral
Please continue to the Victory conditions.
Bet that was Commander Buck O'Hare in that sub that escaped!
Well done, for not giving up on this epic campaign and hopefully the next one you will have done it completely, if not well there's a few more island bases you have yet to capture and possibly take on the one in Australia too?
Great sinkings loved this video
I don't know if it is properly modeled in the world map, but I believe the presence of the light cruiser Katori is disallowing your battleship group from going high speed on the map due to it's own low top speed of 18 knots(as compared to the top speeds of 30-35 knots the other ships in that fleet can reach)
The game must have been on Anti Sub Missions last night. I lost 4 of 6 submarines in three different locations and was only able to get two back home
You can edit the save file to add more supplies to the ports that generate them. I for one would approve of this, as this version of the mod gives the Japanese far too little supplies, fuel, and engineering.
Yes, the mod was significantly changed when the last WotS big patch came out, even having a nice new extended map. Unfortunately it was several episodes into Taff's run, so too late...
What needs to happen now, is a huge Us fleet in the North East enters the fray, full of wildcats and dauntless. bh
thanks Taff
I got this notification while watching Yarnhub’s Taffy 3 video
I got it while watching "Liberal Hivemind".
It honestly boggles my mind that we're 40 episodes into this series, and Taff *STILL HASN'T REALIZED* that there's an in-game time cooldown that governs when you can respot enemy ships on the campaign map, despite people telling him about it on... seemingly every other video, at least 🙃😂
I mean, bro... is the comments section really *that* scary to you? And, like... what about Google?!
For f*ck's sake, man 😂😂😂
Taff are you looking at doing the Mediterranean or Atlantic Ocean mod maps
are the ships in this game really tough bulletsponges or have il2 and silenthunter made me think too little of them?
It usually takes a lot less torpedoes than shells to sink a WW2 warship (unless the ship is called "Hood" 😉).
@@090giver090 the ships in this game still seem to need at least 2-3 torpedoes to sink
Mate, you're just saying Surabaya incorrectly on purpose, now aren't you?! The J is pronounced like a Y as if you were pronouncing the modern Indonesian city of Surabaya.
Dude... he *almost* NEVER reads the comments, or even bothers to Google anything, even if he doesn't seem to understand it - That's why we're 40 episodes into this series and Taff *STILL* hasn't realized there's an in-game time cooldown that governs when you can respot enemy ships on the campaign map, despite people telling him about it on seemingly every other video, at least 🙃😂
@@thisherehandleIdospout Thanks for this info!
@@michaelkoznarsky7911 Figured you deserved to know, bud 🙃
Great job brother - loved it.
