- Alexander Skarsgard worked hard on his abs for eight months, developing them into the eye-catching eight pack that he wanted to show during his shirtless scenes. He rejected the "body-builder" look for his version of Tarzan and instead opted for a low body-fat hyper-shredded appearance that emphasized his intense muscle definition for a sharper more animalistic look.
His trainer Magnus Lygdback also reveals the workouts Skarsgard did to get the last minute pump going for the crucial shirtless scenes.

Rewatching the True Blood series at the moment my first experience with this man i must say he was probably the best actor in that whole series honestly a lot of the acting "sucked" pun intended but seriously i had never seen or heard of him before True Blood he is truly genetically blessed and easy on the eyes I've rented The Legend of Tarzan towed now and am purchasing it he really is a funny guy too

He's the stunt double. For any shot in which the actor might get hurt, like being thrown against a tree or something, the stunt double does it. The insurance company demands that it be so.

IMHO I reckon Tarzan should be much bigger than that... still cut and shredded af, but really large. Like hercules. But also incredibly agile
Conscious choice by Skarsgard and the director. They did not want their Tarzan to look like a bodybuilder. They wanted a slim sleek tarzan so went for the cut and shredded look. And with the amount of running and jumping and sprinting and lunging that tarzan does, he wouldn't retain a lot of muscle mass. So look was accurate to the setting and character.
That doesn’t help when vine swinging through the jungle...

Alot of training, with a nice testosterone dosage will do wonders...I just love how people really think you can make that big of an improvement without outside help...haha building muscle is very very slow process when done naturally...anyone who thinks these actors that make these sort of improvements...like hugh jackman for wolverine or this guy, aren't using testosterone shots, are freaken delusional.
Do you workout four hours a day and eat only protein for 6 months? It is possible it just requires hard work.

A combination of carbs fats and proteins has been used.working out for 4 h like you suggested is also false, no body can do that naturally,you have to have a rest and time to recover.

The director did not want a bulky appearance for Tarzan. So as they trainer says they went for a very cut very shredded look for Skarsgard.
