The Northman - Behind the Scenes

  • Take a look behind the scenes of the new film by Robert Eggers.
Alexander Skarsgård stars as Prince Amleth, who fled his home as a young boy after seeing his father brutally murdered by his uncle. And yes, that does sound like 'The Lion King' in a Viking setting.

13:25 Yes we are :D We've seen enough Hollywood Vikings wearing and wielding the most ridiculous stuff. About time to show men in dyed wool tunics, thin belts and leg wraps wielding spears and wearing helmets. I'm honestly really looking forward to this

Just watched the movie yesterday and am I impressed with the sheer will of the main character's desire to take revenge despite the cost of his own life at the end. The actors' skills and expressions were truly amazing and I couldn't have wished for a better movie that centred around love, vengeance and gory action in the age of the Vikings.

I would've watched this on theatres if it was available in my country. Apparently they don't release Eggers' films here in the cinema as well as other art films. Nevertheless, this was such a wild experience watching on digital. Can't believe they only used a single camera in the making of this Vikings-revenge film.
Everything came out so beautifully crafted. Robert Eggers' vision is just so bewildering. I really feel like I'm in another world whenever I watch his films. He's a mastermind and I can't wait to see more from him. I've been a fan since I saw The Lighthouse way back.

With everything that Willem (specially him, what a wisdom this man have, the way he talks ohh.. I love him) Ethan, Alexander and all the production cast and crew said about eggers = DETAILS in visuals, story, etc Make me feel like when I heard actors talking about Kubrick.. and probably Nicole Kidman will make that comparation.. I'm totally sure haha

Every actor was phenomenal in this movie. But damn, Ethan Hawke has been killing it. Comic fans aren’t too excited about MoonKnight, but Hawke was great as the villain. He was soo great in The Black Phone, little dialogue and not being able to see his face sometimes but what he gave through is memorable. The Northman, a small role as a King was again great. I wish he had the same time as Mufasa did lol. William DeFoe as had a small role but stood out as he always does. My favorite thing in cinema is a great one shot take. We got two in this movie.
Eggers understands revenge. A certain video game director does not.
