- 世界中のトレイランナーたちが出場を熱望する世界屈指の山岳レース、HARDROCK100が毎年７月に開催されている。アウトドアスポーツのメッカであるアメリカ・コロラド州、その中でも標高4,000mを超える山岳エリアで開催されたこの過酷なレースに、2023年プロウルトラランナー宮﨑喜美乃が初参戦した。
低酸素トレーナーとして働く彼女が初めて体験した高所の100マイルレースはどのようなものだったのか、高所登山の専門家と日本のエベレスト登頂最多記録を持つ山岳ガイドの見解をもとに高所レースを紐解いていく。そしてこのハードロックに魅了された人々が集まると言われる、トレイルランニングコミュニティの熱量の真実に迫る。

完走お疲れ様でした。👏👏👏100マイル（160km）という距離自体が途方もないですが、途中に4000m超えや4000mに近いピーク・峠がいくつもあるコースのようですね。登り下りがメチャ大変ですね。累積標高差も10000ｍを超えたのでは。地元のボランティアの方々が熱心にサポートされているアットホームな大会だということが良くわかりました。☺
今年の夏もUTMBに参加されるとのこと。ますますのご活躍を祈っています。🙏
