  • This video is a collection of finds found later this summer and into early fall of this year. Its a typical video of mine full of an array of different artifacts from different periods, with a few not so typical pieces! From the hidden lost lake stuck in the hardened dirt wall at the beginning, to the massive lerma drill just laid out in the open at the end, and everything else in between. As always, your thoughts and comments are welcomed and appreciated. Please like, share, and subscribe to keep up with all of my upcoming videos if you haven't done so yet! Thanks for watching!

      Thanks man! I admittedly live in an area rich in history and laden with quality artifacts. Something I try not to take for granted! With the abundance of artifacts, I sometimes find it hard to relax though. I feel like with each wave from a boat, or the blade of a bulldozer pushing dirt around, artifacts are continually being lost for good! It causes many sleepless nights for me. Haha Now that I say it out loud, it sounds like I may have a bit of a problem!😂 Thanks though buddy, I appreciate it!

He attempted to, but was unable to get down there for some reason. Had he gone out there, he would have no doubt seen it since it was laying out in the open like it was! He will probably cry himself to sleep when he sees this video no doubt. He saw the pic of what he missed out on, but videos seem to hit a little harder than pics do! Thanks man, I really appreciate it. I’ve been asked before about what happens to my collection when I cease to exist. One thing I do know… is that museums seems to be where artifacts go to be buried in boxes, locked away from the public eye. So my collection probably won’t be going to a museum. It’s a shame really. I could change my mind one day…. But the TN state museum for instance.. they used to have a massive display of native artifacts from all periods. It was very impressive and informative. They built a bigger and newer museum years back for more room to display items. I was excited to visit it. When I went I was blown away at the massive change they had made. 4 artifacts is all they show now. Yes, that wasn’t a typo. 4. It’s been that way for years now. That would be a shame, and no doubt leave me rolling in my grave to think of a lifetime of hard work saving these pieces, being in a warehouse hidden away. I’ll get off my soap box now! Haha thanks again for coming back to check out the new round of finds buddy!

      @@Points365, I totally agree brother. The universities are the same as museums. So many beautiful pieces kept in boxes, stacked on boxes, behind boxes... in the basements of their libraries only to be seen by a few in their archaeological programs. It's shameful. Fortunately, I have two sons who have the same love for rock and history as me, so all the artifacts will stay in the family for at least one more generation. ♥

The TN river is known for the stuff that can be found near it. I’m sure you and your grandfather had quite the collection! I bet some of your old spots are still producers no doubt. The natural erosion of the banks constantly changes it up of course. Sometimes bringing about the end of old spots, but fortunately brings about new ones as well. Some beauties! I live just minutes from Cherokee Lake in east TN. The water is down right now. I’d like to walk it a little bit before it is back up in the spring. My dad found a few mini balls and arrow heads years ago. I assume mostly from there. Great video!

    Another pleasant stroll along the river bank. I vicariously enjoyed the solitude, beauty, the anticipation of the hunt, and then, the excitement of finding that link to ancient man right at your feet, untouched by human hands for perhaps thousands of years. I did all of that many years ago and appreciate you bringing those memories back. I am betting that the owner of that incredible drill, perhaps a woman, treasured it above all. Would she have shared it with others? I bet not. In the end, how did it find its way to where you found it? We'll never know.

      Thanks man! I agree though, old school leatherman! I can see the late night infomercials by the glow of a campfire now… it slices, it dices, drills, and scrapes! Heck you can even scratch your ear hole or that nasty poison ivy rash with it. Yours now for only 1 Buffalo hide! But wait. There’s more!…. 😂 But my thought is that it was a lerma, that eventually got modified into what it is for some reason. With skills like they had, if they needed it, they just made it! I appreciate you checking it out buddy!

    • @Points365
      @Points365  Před 4 měsíci +1

      That second piece in question. I’ve always called them hoes. Possibly hoe / axe combo though. That one looked like it was used / resharpened until it was not worth resharpening.
      Haha and I’m that drill… man, I had plenty of time to get shakes out of my system before picking that bad boy up! The way it was laying out in the open like that left nothing to the imagination before pulling it. I usually try to keep calm for the vids, and over the years have gotten quite good at it! There is no lack of excitement running through my mind though! I attempted to put together a metal detecting video a couple months back. I had a fairly decent day. Flat buttons, coins, etc… I will try and get that video out together to share soon. Found a large cent piece not too long ago as well.. can’t wait to share that as well! Thanks again and good luck out there!

    Amazing finds, as usual. Very intriguing "drill" you found. I wonder if the long, slender part was meant to go into a socket of prepared wood, with the broader end used as a knife or scraping tool. Does that end show wear or polish? Not sure I can see this as a functioning drill. The serrated Kirk point is outstanding. Thanks for sharing.
