    ------------------------
    - What is the Japaneese twist?
To get the flat side really flat just using whetstones is possible. It is a way to test patience. For woodworkers not interested in this test there is the option to get help from machines. Removing steel in the center of the flat side will make it easier to afterwards flatten the chisel on whetstones. Just like Japanese blacksmiths do for their chisels.
    - What to do if there is no wet sharpening machine around?
Also a common grinder can do the job. Please be patient and wait for my next video where i demonstrate how to do it without wasting the blade hardening.
    - Which stones are used?
Did you watch the video till the end?
    - Where did you get this beautiful chisel?
It is a Ferdin Rubens tool. It came to me on a local second hand market.
    - What will it be used for?
There are some ideas in my head and good opportunities to put them in practice. So, let’s see what will happen.

I find water stones too messy so I go with diamond ones and a strop but always nice to see other people's method.

Yes, there are many methods which lead to the same goal - sharp tools. The way shown is not the correct one, just the one i chose, i come along with.

    glad to see you post!
I miss my water stone, but my setup is not optimized enough to use them cleanly.

Wonderful. A great result. What is the make of the flattening stone you used? It was the only thing not listed at the end!

The black one is a Suehiro 100. The brick is self made. I might show more about it in near future - a very fine and unexpensive method :-)
