    Thanks for your balanced review. I like that you drew a distinction between it (not) being a good pack for you and being a good pack for someone with different needs.

      I appreciate you letting me know that. I try to be informative to help viewers make their own decisions, but also let people know why it wouldn't work in my situation so that if they are in a similar boat as me they will know before they buy.

    Great review-thanks for showing the lenses coming out of it; it gave me a good feel for what will fit. Personally this'll work perfectly for me-I've got an F-Stop Tilopa and its massive and awesome for carry-on/travel but when I'm out running around, I just don't need all that weight. Since I'm usually running around with the camera in my hand, I just have a super simple REI running bag that I'll throw my extra lenses in along with a sweatshirt to pad it, but of course that's a shifty disaster waiting to happen. This'll work like a charm. Thank you!

    This may not be the best pack for YOUR purpose, but, after much research, I purchased it for my needs. Another CZcams review discussed the ability to get a 15" MacBook Pro into the front of the backpack, which was on my wish list. For long flights and for day trips, this is a perfect bag for MY needs. I never carry more than 2 lenses, including the one on my camera. Good review. It would not have changed my mind, had I seen it prior.

    Good review. I agree this pack is just too small. Maybe even too small for those "ideal" users that want some photo gear and some "other" gear, or hydration. I took it on a 3 week trip around southern Utah and northern Arizona. I won't rehash the issues with having too little photo gear storage, because you covered that pretty well. However, I did some extensive hiking (multiple 10+ mile hikes) and needed a full water bladder for those long treks in the desert. Needing a mix of hydration and a secure way to hold my camera gear is what pushed me to get this bag. I filled a Camelbak 2 liter bladder and it BARELY fit in the pocket. It was very tight, and I had to really cram it in to the pocket to get it to fit. I didn't feel comfortable having the bag crammed so tight. Eventually the tightness caused the hose and the bladder to separate a bit and cause a pretty substantial leak. I also liked the idea of attaching hiking poles to the bag (which it has cords/straps for). However, my poles would often pop out of the bottom loops, and then annoyingly bounce and swing around. When the poles were secure, it worked great. But it was always just a matter of time before the poles popped out. While I was able to do some of I wanted to do on my trip, in regards to hydration and gear storage, I made a lot of compromises and eventually stopped using the water bladder as well as choosing to take and leave different gear on different hikes. The more I used the pack over the 3 week trip the more work-arounds I found, but I was hoping for a more comprehensive bag when I bought this and was ultimately disappointed. If I were to rate this out of 5 like you did, I would give it somewhere around 2.5 out of 5. I think it does too little of everything, and MIGHT be good for someone that doesn't need the bag to do too much of any one thing (as in not hiking far/needs little hydration, and doesn't need to carry much gear). But then, why spend all that money on this bag when you can get much cheaper bags, or maybe a small camera bag and a small Camelbak for less money? Anyways, thanks for your review! I wish I would've found it before I bought this bag, but I'm not sure it would've changed my mind. Sometimes you just have to try these things for yourself before you really know how a product works for you.

      Thank you for taking the time to giving us insight on your usage with this pack. You had a lot of the same shortcomings of this pack but also shown some light on things that I didn't try like the hiking poles. I appreciate you helping the viewers learn more about the ins and outs of this pack.

    I'm in the same boat as you. I've got all those 3 lenses.. sometimes I like to add a 1.4x extender and a GoPro as well. Plus I've got surface pro, cables, chargers, etc. There are plenty bags out there for keeping such stuff.. but what I'm looking for is to keep a water bottle to the bag, and most importantly that the bag isn't heavy (like it should be below 2kg weight). Have you come across any bag like that?

    What if I bought this bigger bag and used with a mirrorless MFT camera? I have two bodies and two additional lenses... I think the smaller 200 of this bag would be too small for sure

    • @backflipphoto
      @backflipphoto  Před 8 lety

      +David Der Hello David, thanks for checking out my video and reaching out to me. I would NOT recommend the 200 of this bag for your needs. This 300 will be a tight enough squeeze with two bodies and two lenses. Plus the 300 looks to be cheaper right now anyways. Its all going to depend how long your lens is once attached to the mirrorless. I bet you can get two bodies with lenses attached side by side. I measured the inside of the padded camera storage and it is 9 inches wide, 9 inches deep by 4 inches. I hope that helps. Below is the link to the two bags at BH. www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=photosport+aw+ii&N=0&InitialSearch=yes&sts=ma&Top+Nav-Search=

      +BackFlipPhoto that's what I figured when I went and looked at the 200 and then saw your video. I will give it a shot. It's probably the only bag I saw that is a "backpack" and camera bag

      Clik Elite also has a pack that pulls double duty. Their Luminous is supposed to carry a body+24-70+700-200+ your choice of another lens or a flash. Check out their prod video here. czcams.com/video/CvMT9sGXpJ4/video.html BH

      Sebastian. It will not fit a 13 inch, it would be too wide to slide into that pocket

    Question for you:
    What are your thoughts on the overall length of the bag. I'm 6'4" and I don't want a bag whose hip strap sits at or above my waist. that seems like it defeats the purpose of the straps and would look damn ridiculous.

    • @backflipphoto
      @backflipphoto  Před 8 lety +1

      The main length of this pack seems to be on the longer end of the spectrum for a compact/trail pack such as this. It is at 22.5 which appears to be a rather long length for a pack. The shoulder straps are adjustable which will really help you tailor fit where the waist straps will be sitting on your torso. Bottom line I don't see any trouble with you resting the hip straps on your hips.
      If you are in the market for an outdoor camera pack I highly recommend the Clik Elite brand, they are worth a consideration. A bit pricey but the quality is second to none. I just finished a video on the Luminous a pack that I now exclusively use for outdoor/trail type packs. BTW, the length of this Luminous pack is identical to the Lowepro.

      I like what I see with the Luminous. My only issue is the color. That red is just too bright for me. I emailed costumer service and inquired if they'd be adding more diverse color options. In any case, thanks for the info. Much appreciated!

      @backflipphoto  Před 8 lety

      Oh, yes. It is BRIGHT red. I was on the beach with it in Cambria, CA this weekend and it stuck out big time. Makes me wonder if I might be attracting unwanted attention.

  • @TheDarkDiciple

    I have the previous 200 (eg. not: ii), and it's possible to attach a tripod, but it's on the side. This means that I can bring a tripod but it skews the weight distribution. Looks like it should be possible on the ii also but as I don't have the ii bag so I haven't been able to try.
    example: thefootprintdiary.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/Bottle-Tripod.jpg

    • @backflipphoto
      @backflipphoto  Před 8 lety +1

      Jagged. You are absolutely correct. There is a bottle slot on the right side and there is a strap meant to cinch the pack down right above it. As you mentioned it will weight the bag to one side but it can be done. The fact that an activity pack doesn't have something built in, is rather disappointing. I do have another review coming up within the week of a new pack that I received to put through the same paces as this Lowepro. I must say, its a FANTASTIC pack. I can't wait to share it with everyone.

    • @TheDarkDiciple
      @TheDarkDiciple Před 8 lety

      I agree that there should be some kind of easy photo-prioritized tripod solution, but as the pack is more towards the active crowd looking for something light I can kinda see why the excluded it.
      Looking forward to it!
