    I'm cheap. I use a transom trolling motor to hold me in the current. Then my minn kota all terrain bow mount trolling motor to hold my bow in position. It sound complicated. But, once you do it. It's easy peasy

    Thanks for sharing. Liked the video and also sub'd.
    I recently finished a restore on my 14/52 or so Alum. "V" bottom 1964 Lone*Star Big Fisherman. I have some pretty low level lakes which make my launches less than convenient b'c of the height of the peer & launching the boat by myself.
    1st, let me say, I'm really ignorant about motor boating or fishing from a boat. I grew up a fine fisherman from the bank or from the hull of my small sailboat. Now I'm old & retired so nothing is like it was back in the 70's , which brings me to my questions about the new trolling motors available today.
    I understand the idea of "Spot Lock" now and have seen other features available throughout my research. I'm looking for your suggestion about 2 or 3 TM's that might work for me on a budget.
    Since this video mostly talks about Spot Lock, I don't know if either motors featured would qualify for my circumstances ?
    Features :
    a) Transom Mount (for the bow)
    b) Spot lock
    c) remote navigation or pilot - being able to position or drive the boat from the bank w/remote or phone. (android phone)
    d) works off 12v system (hp /thrust available ?) works off 24v sys (hp /thrust available ?)
    e) brushless motor
    Thank you for your generous consideration,
    Sincerely .................
    God bless.

    I would recommend spending a couple of extra hundred and upgrading to the Terrova. It comes with the heading sensor that makes the motor more accurate in spotlock.

      I’ve heard people say this a lot bro but what is a heading sensor ?

    • @jasonstokley7274
      @jasonstokley7274 Před 11 měsíci

      The heading sensor is a compass that tells the trolling motor which way your boat is facing.

      These are extremely budget compared to other models. I have an old maxxum on my boat and it’s a thousand dollar trolling motor and it’s just a decent basic motor. No spot lock. No nothing.

    Does the trolling motor have its own GPS? Or does it have to be paired with a graph that has GPS capability

    I bought a Powerdrive in 2020. Absolute garbage for 2.5 years, then I brought it to a different shop and voila, ran like a champ for a year until I put an Ultrex on the boat. I keep it around as a spare for tourneys now.

    Will a high-thrust transom motor jack knife a 14-foot aluminum boat even if set to the slowest speed, I need the higher trust for my river fishing, but I also need a slow speed for casting and trolling in lakes I just don't want to go airborne.

    With the xi3 can you hit the spot lock button without a depth finder. Does the motor with gps,spot lock do it all by itself?

    • @trollingmotorparts
      @trollingmotorparts  Před 11 měsíci +3

      Yes, the Xi3 with Pinpoint GPS will spot lock without being hooked to a depth finder.

    Trolling motors are worse than boats for being a massive rip-off.
    They cost exponentially more than they cost to produce.
    The minn kota feature filled models break and fail constantly but their spotlock is the most precise.
    Motorguide is better but their spot lock sucks and wanders way too much.
    Regardless neither makes enough 24v short shaft models!
    Short as in under 54in.
