Consider Moff Gideon's age & career. He was most likely a young Republic Navy officer in the Clone Wars, & would have seen Jedi in action, maybe even worked alongside them, like Admiral Yularen or Tarkin in that one episode. That would also explain his familiarity with the Jedi.

Nah Gideon wasn't trying to kill himself. He was trying to blow his jaw off so he wouldn't have to answer any questions. If he was really going to kill himself, he would have chomped down on one of those self electrocuting tooths, you know, the ones where if you listed closely to it while it's activated, you can hear a tiny emperor's voice saying "Unlimited Powah!!!!"
Yeh based off the angle of the blaster it would have just blown his jaw off maybe, but it's a blaster so it might kill him anyways based off how they work. If that was a real life gun it would have just blown through his mouth and not killed him, would be really painful though. It's probably that he was trying to kill himself though and just a failure of acting/directing that he held the blaster that way. I figure he thought he could bullshit his way out and was confident with the DT's he would escape, but when Luke shows up he realizes he can't escape no matter what so tries to kill himself instead of being surely captured. I doubt he knew 100% it was Luke though, maybe, but I feel he would have the same reaction had it been Ahsoka or anyone else mowing down his super powerful DT's. An unpredicted factor showed up, and he failed to forsee it. He was doing a heccin panic.
"Assume I know everything." If true, then the Jedi who pilots an X-wing can be no one else but Luke! It also tells why Gideon was terrified at a personal level: A Jedi Master just might be able to read his mind! Gideon's stunt with the blaster wasn't a real suicide attempt. He hesitated just long enough to be disarmed after he shot at Beskar clad warriors! A token display of defiance with little chance of causing any real damage...Gideon doesn't do half-measures. He wants to be seen as a high value target, he even says as much! Despite the setback of losing Grogu, the cruiser and the dark saber, this is still Gideon's game. I think Gideon is gonna get played for a sucker...The Firefly episode "Trash" comes to mind. The crew scammed a scammer by acting like they were falling for the scammers plot. Mando and company know Gideon is trying to play them, and so they will go along with his narratives, see where it goes. Gideon would never betray his masters, but if he thinks he is winning, he will gloat and tip his hand! He loves his monologues...his arrogance blinds him.
I think your right they’ve been so careful with details they wouldn’t just stop at a suicide attempt that wasn’t even a real attempt. Why would he shoot beskar wearing people. He had the DARKSABRR... he has fought mandalorians obviously. He wants to instigate bo Karan to kill din and then escape in the chaos
TBF, Gideon IS flying his own means of transportation :D Plus, there's always some "outdoor" seats on the X-wing. All it takes is a little bit of rope and an environmental suit...
I think Gideon was going to kill Grogu because he knew how devastating it would be to have him as an enemy, trained by Luke Skywalker. Or it could be the scenario, “If we can’t have him, nobody can.”
Great job....well thought out!...I really appreciate how you kept your theories grounded and didn't try to over reach or push some sort of "fan fiction"!!

I feel like I may have said this before, but I'm saying it again. The bass in your intro music sounds so amazing from my killer sound system in my car. 😊
My theory: Moff Gideon is slightly force sensitive and sensed Luke's presence. However, Moff Gideon is not strong in the force and isn't that force sensitive like Jedi and Sith were. That's why Gideon wanted Grogu's blood and studied it. He thought by studying and using blood with a high m count, he could increase his force sensitivity
@@hypervolt9987 Partly that, but Luke would be the most prominent if not the only Jedi he knows about. They're supposed to be extinct... except, y'know, for that one that killed the Emperor. And Vader.
Also explains why he's more fearful - he knows the advantage being force sensitive provides, so he can grasp the magnitude of the extreme amplification of that in Skywalker.

If you don't mind me answering, in the last jedi we hear that Luke created a new jedi order. However been solo had hate in him and Luke did a dumb dumb and tried to kill him. This led Ben and his friends, the knights of Ren to fight the other students. So Ben kills all of the others and then leaves. Luke feels destroyed and that his life work failed so he leaves. That's my take on it anyways
Guys SWT and Eckharts are not at war, stop going to eachothers channels and raging at eachother, we are the reason that this problem is gonna last so long cuz us toxic fans wont let the youtubers move on. We are only doing harm to our youtubers by keeping the fire going.
I wish you’d list the sources of the background video in your uploads. Usually I can tell and recently it’s often been Squadrons but I didn’t recognize it this time and it looks amazing.
My theory is that the dark troopers were programmed with a protocol to detect any Jedi present on the light cruiser (probably a lightsaber/kyber crystal detector?) and when the dark troopers stopped punching the blast door, they went into that defense protocol. Moff Gideon recognized this change in action soon after.
Moff Gideon knowing who Luke is makes perfect sense. Why almost everyone else doesn't seem to know who one of the great heroes of the rebellion is doesn't make any sense. It would have been all over the holonet about him firing the shot that destroyed the death star at Yavin and surely they would have heard about his involvement in taking down the second death star too. I have a theory on that: ...What the general public might not know about is Luke being a jedi. He didn't really master his force powers until training on a secluded backwater planet with Yoda. After that, he only really started heavily using his force powers at Bespin against Vader (and lost). Not many people, if any, saw that happen. His biggest public display of force ability and where he started calling himself a jedi was against Jabba the Hutt's gang on Tatooine. Only Boba Fett was there to see that (and he conveniently wasn't with the boarding party). Most of the other witnesses died in the sail barge explosion or in the belly of the sarlacc. The few remaining probably don't get off Tatooine much to tell their tale. The Ewoks believed the levitation of C3P0 was magic from their angry god... That leaves only the closed room in the second death star with only Vader and the Emperor to witness Luke's full jedi ability. Long story short, It's plausible not many people know about Luke's jedi powers. Sure, seeing a lone X-wing might make them think of the famous rebellion hero they heard of. Seeing a jedi might make them question that thought since Luke might not be widely known as one.
I was thinking the same. Galaxy probably knows Luke as Rebel Hero, but not as a Jedi. Maybe most people know him only just by name, not by face, so this can explain why Cara Dune not know him. She would recognize him, if he would told his name.
Luke was the only known surviving Jedi during the imperial era. The emperor must have informed his Moffs like that’s guy you should be careful of. He is the biggest threat to the empire
Omg !!! You wore a black turtleneck and one black glove too !!! I did that a few times at age 12, but my go to was olive green soldier uniform since I was 7 and I was pretending to be Grand Moff Tarkins successor/son.
Moff Gideon’s Gozanti Captain actually successfully kills himself on screen a few Episodes ago. In the novel The Truce at Bakura it is alluded that every Imperial warship has an ISB agent to ensure the Commanding Officer will never surrender an Imperial warship.
At this point I like to believe the bad batch are going to be similar to some clones from Legends. Clones like certain commandos and Arc troopers questioned and didn't execute order 66. Even after the jedi purge these clones fought in the defense of Kamino against the Empire or disappears into obscurity.
An idea for a video- Destiny 2 the hive lore or the fallen lore. Yes there are many youtubers who have made videos of those but you have this extraordinary technique all of your videos stay in my mind because they are so well organized and making them simple. Love your videos keep it up lad.
I think Gideon tried to shoot Grogu to remove him as a future threat. A powerful Jedi with a long life-span is a huge obstacle for a rebuilt empire in the long-run.
He sensed Luke the same way Grogu sensed Luke. Remember, he said, “I have his (Grogu’s) blood!” He had been injecting himself with Grogu’s blood, and as a result, had started developing sensitivity to The Force. Why would he do this? To become strong enough to defeat Admiral Thrawn and seize control of the remnants of the Empire.
I am not quite sure if Grogus blood would make Gideon force sensitive but I actually like this theory more than the whole Emperor Palpatine ressurrection bullsh*t. I hope they don't connect the Mandalorian and the Ahsoka show to the sequels but create a new story that takes place years before episode 7.
He probably was trying to avoid getting his mind read by Skywalker, whose true capabilities would certainly only be speculation to someone like Gideon. Thinking he was at the end of his part in the galactic turmoil and could only sabotage his allies by remaining alive could explain the attempted killage

I agree. I believe he knew Luke was on the Death Star with Vader and I think this of a terrific explanation of how.

If you don't mind me answering, in the last jedi we hear that Luke created a new jedi order. However been solo had hate in him and Luke did a dumb dumb and tried to kill him.
I just realized that, they should have let him pull the trigger, and Gideon would only be missing a jaw 🤣
Hard to extract info from some one who can't speak
they probably want to put him on trial for his war crimes
Eh, as plasma weapons blasters have some explosive effects. I would... not count on that.
I have a theory on that:
...What the general public might not know about is Luke being a jedi.
He is the biggest threat to the empire
vader knew about Cal, Ashoka, Kanan, and Ezra
I’d love to see some speculation videos on what we could see in The Bad Batch, or maybe even a video on the Purge Troopers from Jedi Fallen Order?
At this point I like to believe the bad batch are going to be similar to some clones from Legends. Clones like certain commandos and Arc troopers questioned and didn't execute order 66. Even after the jedi purge these clones fought in the defense of Kamino against the Empire or disappears into obscurity.

Video idea: what If Luke arrived to Gideon's cruiser before Mando and the gang
We see his arrival...
Gideon threatens Grogu with the darksaber...
Luke: *Force Yoink* Now what, Imperial?
As in coincidence? ‘Cause he’s only there to pick up the child, so he couldn’t be there first for that.
He knew about his legendary fried chicken
