  • tm.org Transcendental Meditation (TM) is explained by scientists Dr. John Hagelin and Dr. Norman Rosenthal.

    Transcendental Meditation
The benefits of the Transcendental Meditation technique are immediate and increase over time. The technique's positive effects-for mind, body and relationships-have been verified by hundreds of research studies conducted at top medical schools and published in over 350 peer-reviewed scientific journals.TM
Hagelin: Transcendental Meditation properly understood and properly practiced is a systematic means to turn the attention powerfully within. To experience and explore deeper levels of mind, quieter levels of the awareness until the mind is completely settled in the simplest state of human awareness.
Rosenthal: Through Transcendental Meditation one can slip into a zone if you like in which you are thoroughly alert, profoundly relaxed, very joyful in spirit, but unfocused on anything in particular. It's not a thing your happy about and yet you're joyful. It's not a thing you're thinking about and yet you're alert. You're not asleep and yet you're profoundly relaxed. It's a really curious state that is a thing in itself. One thing about Transcendental Meditation and you hear this from many people who have tried a bunch of different meditation techniques to get to this state - is it's one of the simplest, most effortless ways of accessing the transcendent.
Hagelin: In this meditative state the body gains a deep state of rest, deeper than sleep and deep seated stress is dissolved, providing an effective prevention to stress related illness, removing the deleterious effects of stress on health and brain functioning. It's a systematic meditation technique to develop the full potential of mind and body.
*Transcendental Meditation as taught by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi is now practiced by millions of people worldwide from all backgrounds and from all walks of life. TM is one of the most simple, natural and effective meditation techniques in the world today.

I have tried TM and other techniques--including hypnotic techniques. TM is much easier and more effective. And importantly, more natural and the benefits come right away. As a Vet, I think it should be made available for all!

Once I have a mantra do I repeat it out loud or in my mind? Do I repeat it for the full 20 minutes?

@@eternalnateyou can use it at any time nate & you don't have to be sitting, lying down with your eyes closed. When ever your monkey mind starts running away use your mantra. Use it all day or when you remember. Make it habit to stay Present, mindful as lm now doing. When l bend down if l see light I'll come back to this video 🙏

My mother always used to say that my uncle who once suffered from rather severe psoriasis started doing TM and his psoriasis practically disappeared as a benefit from it. I guess it makes sense if it lowers your stress levels as stress can be a trigger for outbreaks. I find the physiological benefits interesting.

As a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist, we like to say the difference between Hypnosis and Meditation is the spelling. Beyond that, we say that meditation concentrates on the word (the Mantra) and meditation is the space between the words. Both are ways to open communication with the unconscious (subconscious) mind to improve ourselves, both help in clarifying the mind and most importantly, both leave us completely in control of ourselves.

The EEG found during TM practice is not the EEG found during hypnosis.

If I am not mistaken, from what I remember when studying TM in the mid 1970's, Transcendental Meditation is not the same as what most people refer to and practice as meditation. I think you would find differences between TM and meditation, also. You will also find differences between self-hypnosis levels and trance induced by an experienced hypnotherapist.

Daniel Cox I'm not sure what you mean by "studying TM." There's a standardized class taught by accredited teachers licensed through an international accreditation body. As to whether or not it is like other forms of meditation, some people say yes, some say no. What matters, is the physical changes that take place in the nervous system when you practice, and how these affect your life outside of practice. Trying to decide if it is similar to some other practice without looking at the physiological changes is futile.

Hi Billy! Great point. There are many kinds of meditations out there where you're either mindful, concentrating, focusing on your breath or things of that nature. This form of meditation truly transcends the mind. It is very unique. I have personally tried other forms of meditation, and nothing allows me to dive deep within this effortlessly and consistently. It's truly impressive. If you'd like to speak with a certified teacher, simply fill out this contact form on our website above or call.

@bladdan 35 is no problem no worries. I feel that I really need to find an answer too. I'm skeptical on it too. I might go try it if the tm center lets me have a discount on the price. It's $1500 over here. Sadly I heard it was $35? around the 70's. My doctor recommended meditation though and I'm willing to try. I say it's worth a try because I believe that deep breathing can help fix many problems. I actually think deep breathing helps with headaches and stress. I don't see harm with trying tm

You`re not human being having spiritual expirience, you`re spiritual being having human expirience.. Soo what u doing every day when u get up, is hiting "human state", you make effort for that, you are ready even to feel negative just to be in human state :D
Just close eyes and DONT think about anything, not even about this text i wrote :D In one point u lose connect to this world, you dont feel any negativity, just joy, you dont have sance for space or time :Pp

It sounds like "meditation" to me. haha. What's the difference between "transcendental meditation" and just plain meditation? I suppose transcendental is a good word to put on front of it though because it basically describes what the purpose is.....which is to transcend the body/mind(ego) and discover something greater. But it used to confuse me why they called it transcendental meditation as opposed to just meditation. I think the reason is what I just explained.

Please explain the difference between Transcendental Meditation and the mindfulness meditation that I practice. A genuine curiosity there's no joy in any comparison I'm simply wondering. After finding meditation my mind stays open to all the other practices. Thank you in advance

    • @meditationchannel
      @meditationchannel  Před 6 lety +1

Mindfulness meditations generally involve paying attention to your breath and observing your thoughts, whereas the TM technique doesn’t involve any focused attention or observation of experience. It’s a mantra-based meditation that naturally results in self-transcending. It’s simple, entirely effortless, and enjoyable.
