Traffic Counting Training Video

This is an 18 minute Traffic Counting Training Video produced by PennDOT that covers the many aspects of setting counts in the field, with a particular emphasis on safety. It is a good way to introduce traffic counting to anyone unfamiliar with it.

As shown at the end of the video it is a bad idea to repeatedly disconnect the battery using the Spade terminal connectors of the wire. These spade receptacles are not designed for repeated insertions and will quickly loosen and become subject to disconnection due to vibration and their current capacity will be decreased. Using pliers to slightly squeeze them make them tight can be done once or twice but the elasticity of the metal and the shape of the receptacle will become distorted. For one it is not necessary to disconnect the terminals before measuring the battery voltage. There is no good reason for doing this. The cable had an inline connector that should be used for disconnecting the battery if you need to reboot the device. Otherwise keeping everything connected will give you much longer life on these connections. Using a Dielectric grease on the connectors is helpful if corrosion occurs but I would not expect that to be much of a problem. If there is corrosion on these terminals there would also be corrosion on the circuit board which would lead to leakage current and circuit failure. I develop products using these connectors.

I appriciate the presenter she describes how the traffic volume or data collection counter set up for functioning stepping was good and english ax cent was good but why repeatedly showing the battery and cable set up to use nail and other gum etc it may be for commercially gain to take time to extend time thanks presenter

sometimes roads tubes give same value of time passage for different types of vehicles with differnt speed.What to do then if the data consist of high percentages of zero headway due same time passage value ? seconsldy, what value it will give if 2nd vehicle front wheels passes pneumatic tubes ahead of 1st vehicle rear wheels?

I worked in Traffic Data Analysis company using videos, now why you are give me a job for manual counting for TMC,Link,queue, pedestrian Count etc
