I didn't test that aspect, but now testing for you.
Audio is OK, not the best, rather soft, kinda like get the job done quality.
The intercom features talking back and forward works , but slightly delay , not real time.
If you plan to use this product for pets at home I guess it works, but also you need to know it's limitations. It only records when motion is detected, so it's not a 24/7 recording on sdcard.
For your situation, I would suggest getting a Yi Camera

Don't buy this kind of cctv. Motion detection is 0/10. Can't record continually with SD card. You need the app open for you to manually record. This is garbage. I don't recommend this cctv junk. Save your money and buy better one.
