Uruguay is politically a very neutral and stable country that strives to counterbalance Argentina's pressure. Uruguay is a high producer of meat and agricultural farming.

      The Philippines cannot join BRICS, as they are in violation of certain clauses in the selection criteria document, and therefore do not qualify. The price of toeing the US line. I do not imagine they can never get in, but there must be a complete policy shift in the government first, and they would need to continue to prove themselves for many years before diplomatic trust is re-established, so the Philippines can one day qualify for membership. Geopolitically it is a very important country, so they would have a very high chance of being invited, but that is neither here, not there at this time.

      Saudi Arabia is not in yet. It absolutely baffles and amazes me how this is not common knowledge. They never officially accepted the invitation. Apparently they're still mulling it over. Not sure what game they're playing, or maybe they're deliberately taking the bench at the moment and this is all coordinated. But yes, they're not in and strangely everyone I speak to seems to believe Saudi Arabia is an official BRICS member. You can check via a quick Google of the phrase "Saudi arabia not in brics". This should yield several articles including a statement by the foeign ministry of the Kingdom itself saying they haven't yet accepted the invitation, which was issued back in mid January after the rest had already joined.

BTW, the HSR passes near Vietnam's rare earth deposits. In 2022, there were 27,000 Vietnamese studying in Chinese schools. US FDI into Vietnam ranks 11th, China 4th, Japan first. All indicators are that Vietnam is seeking closer ties with China, not the US.
      BTW, Vietnam is said to rank second only to China in rare earth deposits (USGS), but it and the US has no processing capabilities, but is interested in developing its deposits. The largest rare earth mine in the US at Mountain Pass sends its concentrates to China for processing. Vietnam faces the same problem. Why would the US obtain RE from Vietnam when it cannot process it? Another point, North Korea is said to have RE deposits greater than China, but western press doesn't mention that. What that means is that RE prices will continue to be low and the US will be unable to compete in this sector.

    Before you announced your 6 countries for BRICS, I guessed the following potential options. This was based on the belt and road initiative and includes Syria, Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Iraq, Serbia. Out of that mix I only got Belarus consistent with your 6. Would think BRICS will likely focus on projects through time. African and South American projects likely get scaled up later whilst belt and road initiative gets priority for the short term. Maybe wrong and they decide to broaden the distribution globally. - if that happens I think Zimbabwe is a good choice to link up with South Africa.

      All of Africa is moving away from western imperialism but at different rates, so the US might ramp up its regime change operations or boots on the ground wars to retake those regions. I attended the Africa Summit in St Petersburg Russia July2023 and with the help of China and Russia, the optimism and excitement among the delegates was really thrilling to feel, the first of those summits that really charted a course independent of the US, where the US has been using military force to imped progress, with 54 different targets. There was a different feeling entirely to that summit and US control has been countered effectively in several key states. All of Africa will eventually be part of BRICS, between Chinese infrastructure construction and Russian security assistance, for the first time in 450 years of European imperialism Africa will have their own good as a priority.

  • @user-zk8fw9rl8l
    @user-zk8fw9rl8l Před 2 měsíci +6

    Why only 6 countries ?
    BRICS is a trade bloc. Its main function is to facilitate international trade by neutralizing political pressures to any member country from any one member trading country. To that end, it must develop a set of codes governing relations between 2 and more trading nations. From that perspective, the more countries become members the better it is for the bloc. However, perhaps due to inadequate implementation of supporting infrastructures, the bloc's ability to accept new members may be limited despite the wide ranging interests expressed by many countries. And so, I would expect the bloc to accept new members based on the degree of isolation from the bulk of the bloc's membership mainly to allow for the implementation and testing of supporting infrastructures to their location and to showcase the benefits of membership to surrounding countries. But countries also need to be morally strong enough to withstand any external pressures from third countries. Based on those criteria, my projection would include the following countries -
    Kazakhstan, Belarus, Algeria, Zimbabwe, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Pakistan, Iraq, Bangladesh, Cuba, Uruguay, Bolivia.
