- Following on from the video I made when this guitar first came to me a couple of days ago (see: • Fender: Eric Johnson S... ), I've since spent an hour or so removing two of the springs and setting the bridge up to float which it now does perfectly. While doing this I thought it might be fun to write another Axe patch to suit the occasion, so you'll find a link here for it too. Cheers.

You deserved that man. Outstanding player. My god all your tones and playing is spotless with only emotions to share. I wish i had half the talent. Cheers my friend. Happy Gigging with that incredible axe.
That's very kind, Robert. Thank you. I'm just a improvisational player, you know. No rules, really - or not enough! Cheers. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
And Brett's groovy playing permeates the air again. ✌🏻😎
You've done a great job on the trem, well done. I've always preferred a Fender trem to a Floyd Rose, sounds so much fuller. And they can be made to stay in tune very well with just a little bit of effort.
You are right about Mick’s video on the subject of how to float a Fender Strat style bridge, I myself have learned some tricks from that. I need to watch the other video on bolt-on necks that you mentioned. That EJ Strat sounds amazing, but as they say, the real sound is in the hands of the player, and you are doing a mighty fine job indeed. Cheers from the land of bolt-on necks ! 🇺🇸🎸👍
Shit, that bridge pickup works perfectly for the stuff you play! Takes the gain very well!
Yeah, it's pretty hot and alive but I love how it's easily tempered with the tone control. Cheers!
After being exclusively a strat player for the first 20 or so years of my electric guitar playing, I now haven't owned one for about 15 years. I'd probably look for an EJ were I to dive back in to strat world.
I set my Suhr SSS to Float and I absolutely love it. It has the Phenomenal Gotoh 510 trem-system for incredible tuning stability. I have Lollar Dirty Blonde pickups and stainless steel frets with Gotoh locking tuners. I use the Carl Verheyen wammy set-up trick too. Fantastic guitar sounds Brett . . . (particularly @ 6:06) Wow.
A tour de force of phenomenal and distinctive tones. I know it's more fun to have more stuff, but you could rule the world with just that guitar and sell all your others. If you can't get it done with that Strat, does it really need doing?
Thanks for the great video.
Awesome tones & playing.
Cheers 🍻
EXCELLENT...Thank you!
ah Pete & Dan from That Pedal Show! 😉 know them well.
sounding great, i’m pretty loyal to the NYXL’s for the same reason, but I will check out these Paradigms. cheers!
Sweet guitar. As always your playing is spot on !!~ Definitely a keeper. I know you got rid of your cutlass SSS. And
from the sounds of it, dig this beauty way more. How do the two differ, and what made it special for you? thanks !!~
The Cutlass was a regrettable let-go and all of the stuff I have to let go (to make ends meet) usually is. I love the EB's, they're probably the best production guitars on the market, but the silent circuit mucks with some of the gear in here (buffered) and I couldn't disengage it. Also they're quite petite and look small on me. I'm used to fighting a Strat so I've deferred back to what I grew up with and love. Quartersawn necks with flat-ish boards are always preferred for touring as they're stable an generally trouble-free - this EJ being no exception. Also, I prefer the vintage 6-screw Fender bridges as I know how to work with them to make them pretty perfect.
Is the wood still unfinished under the bridge...?
Just a stunner😎👍👍
SCORE Mr. Kingman 😃👍
😎✌👍❤🖖
Yeah ! So great ! Thank's!
I feel like the EJ has a little more bite, punch in her. Def more of a tradional strat sound. Where as the Cutlass was more
polished, glassy. imho. The EJ is definitely more you.
Will the preset work with the FM9? Awesome guitar, and it is in VERY GOOD hands! :-) Thanks for the presets and all the videos!
Yes - once the FM9 beta testing for those Stealth cabs goes to 'release' (not long now, I would hope), it should run just fine on an FM9. I hope so, because that's how I want to use it too!
Thank you for the video! There is a special desk in the background. Is it a special desk for setting up guitars? Could you give some information about it please?
It's a hall table, designed by my wife, Elisabeth. It's in the studio because the rest of the house is still undergoing renovations. I like it, though - it makes a great setup table!
Awesome tunes and playing... BTW, it seems like somewhat chilly outside over there..winter? It is a Monsoon seasons here in Korea.
Thanks! Yes, 0 Celsius here this morning. Very brisk! All the best to you and my friends in Korea (where I would LOVE to visit one day..!)
Great Tones and playing as always. But something curious happened, I downloaded the preset and nothing matches your scenes from your video Scene 1 is on scene 8, scene 2 is on scene 1 and it has an SD1 drive. etc etc etc. very curious indeed. Maybe downloading a preset from Australia to a Canadian AXE FX III makes them go topsy turvy !!! LOL
OK, that's interesting. I'll check my last update on that one and make sure nothing's awry...
@@BrettKingman thank you Brett, for all I know it may be my computer. I am looking into it as well.
@@57Techboy I could be the last state I saved it in before the upload. Will check later today.
@@57Techboy You are quite correct and I thank you for pointing out my mistake. I've since uploaded the correct version which you can find here. axechange.fractalaudio.com/detail.php?preset=11022 Hopefully it does the job. Cheers.
@@BrettKingman thank you Brett. I did think I was losing what little I had left of my mind.
