    I've had this same surgery. Perhaps I was a little more fortunate or lucky. My cast was half as bulky as the one on the video. I had ZERO pain after the nerve block wore off. I didn't have to take any pain medicine. Once the cast was removed after two weeks, I didn't have any range of motion brace. No physical therapy. My only stipulation from the surgeon was to only lift 5 lbs at the gym, and gradually increase from there. Hopefully anyone reading this will have the same recovery as I did.

      That’s awesome I was wondering if your surgeon use the Endo button technique to repair your tendon or the anchor technique?

    no cast like yours, my surgeon gave me a telescopic light weight brace with a hand extension which was bad enough - I was given norco and felt little pain for 7 days and felt fine; my injury was in mid june - surgery on aug 6 because my employers claim agent wanted me to give up, been in PT a few weeks and two early to tell if there will be complications

    I just had to have the same surgery. I am 2 weeks into it and am supposed to begin physical therapy next week. Just curious how long it took until you were able to get back to the gym at your normal routine and how long until you felt mentally secure that you wouldnt hurt your arm by lifting weights? Has it taken long to get your symetry between your left side and right side back?

    • @RichieKeirouz
      @RichieKeirouz  Před rokem

      It took about 3 months after I started training again. I was really afraid of doing doing pull-ups, curls and deadlifts. Even though I had no pain and full range of motion, I just couldn’t get my mind to do it. I started off with little to no weight and assisted pull-ups at first. The more I could do, the more confident I got.

    I'm 17 days after my injury and and 12 days post surgery. As of yesterday, they have me in the ROM brace. It's been a little more achy now with the brace on. What was your experience with the first few weeks in the brace? I'm having difficulty with trying to pronate my hand and the pain is almost unbearable.

    • @RichieKeirouz
      @RichieKeirouz  Před 5 lety +1

      djhonda25 I had difficulty pronating as well. I did the exercises the therapist recommended 3 times a day. Keep that up and stop. It’s the only way you will get your rom back.

    • @djhonda25
      @djhonda25 Před 5 lety +1

      @@RichieKeirouz Thanks. I'm getting closer to full pronation without pain each day. Supination is a lot easier. I still have pain in my wrist throughout the night and wake up often to move it around. I think I have some scar tissue in my wrist that is causing it.

    • @RichieKeirouz
      @RichieKeirouz  Před 5 lety +1

      djhonda25 I had pain in my wrist and my thumb for about 8 weeks post surgery. It was weird. But once I gained full motion and use of my arm again, that pain went away. I’m 9 months post surgery now and the pain I get is a little bit in my elbow after training arms.

    • @RichieKeirouz
      @RichieKeirouz  Před 4 lety +1

      G.M. Hinshaw Hey dude, I made a full 100% recovery. I can’t say I would do anything different than I did. Which was rest and recover. DON’T try to use your arm even when the brace is off. Do you physio just like they show you. For me, supination and pronation was the most difficult.

      @@RichieKeirouz Have this cirgury 9 months ago. Now im way better, lifting 6 kg one single arm curl with no pain. My doubt is if I could lift again heavy weights with no risks in a few motnhs or it is over for me for ever. Im afraid of tearing again. You know, dont know if the attachment is as strong as the natural insertion. Thanks for the inspiration bro!

      I am having issues with the shoulder, a lot of times they don't know or don't tell you to work the shoulder- in a brace you can shrug your shoulders or bend them back or stretctch it away on the exercise ball- just make sure you do it with brace on

    • @favoritelife
      @favoritelife Před 5 lety

      my surgeon expected to do one, my repair is "tight" which means there will be a range of motion issue with my elbow, I don't know if it would have been just better to graft, he said before the surgery the graft would be taken from my forearm, but I have heard of taking the tendon from a corpse or from the knee

    • @chrisberardi2304
      @chrisberardi2304 Před 6 lety +1

      I did the same thing - this injury cannot heal itself! You must have surgery. Yes, you can live without having the tendon reattached, but you will only have between 20% and 50% of your strength.
