I've always hated having to pull my rear brake lever, or have to push in my rear brake pedal to go into park or reverse, so I've always just removed the cable altogether. So as long as you know not to try and shift into reverse or park while going forward, you'll probably like it better not having it. It's just one less thing to have to worry about failing, plus it's just easier and quicker to use considering the shift gate is on the same side as the brake lever.

It was for a customer so i had to fix correctly but if it was mine I would have done that the way you described

@@2strokeguru Yeah I totally understand. It is a safety feature, so it's always best to leave the safety equipment on when fixing for customers. Great video though, you explained everything very well, so keep them coming if you can!!

My Grizzly 700 is a 2009, and is stuck in park. I always used the foot brake to sift. So that interlock cable is also attached to the foot brake and hand brake lever? I'm a little confused sorry?
    Any insight.
    Thanks Mate 😊👍

Any help is appreciated, mine is stuck in high so the cable isn’t keeping it from moving and I can’t figure out why it won’t shift at all. It is completely stuck

Great. Mine seizes when it's very cold I let it run till it's warm then I can shift again. It's a 2006 660cc so It must need a new cable.
    Thx.

My shifter isn't locked or anything, but could this be why my 2013 yamaha grizzly 700 is stuck in 4wd??? I literally have a new harnest, less than 2 years old, new actuator, new 4wd switch, and my front drive shaft is perfectly fine. Even when I manually set everything back into 2wd, and as soon as I plug it in, it engages back into 4wd. Also, I noticed my cable (the exact same one in the video) doesn't pull back to release my brake, so I have to manually pull the cable back so I can use my brake again when needed. I have been stuck with this issue for 2 years.

So, I have a low hours 2014 that I sometimes have shifting issues with, and a 2019 that is almost new and it does not have this cable installed. Literally missing. Confirmed on the forums that other's 2020 does not have it. I am thinking about removing this cable altogether.
