- The early 1300s was a time of much hardship in Wales. There was much poverty and oppression. Then a great famine struck -- bringing starvation and death. Llywelyn ap Gruffydd stood up for the people and appealed to the King. That set in motion a rebellion with great consequences for all involved.

Wow, Llewelyn sounds amazing! A really interesting story in its own right, & as part of Welsh history, but it's also important in English history in regards to Isabella & Mortimer deposing Edward II. That Hugh Despenser really was a nasty piece of work; I was totally unsurprised to hear he was the murderer. I loved all the old maps, I'll have to rewatch it to stare at them.
The thing about Welsh history is that there seems to be limitless versions of it !. Most nation's of the world have some variations in their historical past, of course they do, but many of these variations share a common thread. But in wales, particularly over the last 40 years, there are now endless stories about different characters whom nobody has previously heard of, and the majority of these characters are Princes and King's who are claimed to have been in power of either the whole of wales or bits of it as small as a couple of acres. Often these periods of time contradict eachother, and there are discrepancies regarding who did what, where and when?. Looking at the history of Scotland, England, France etc , their history and events are laid out naturally chronologically , even any conflicting opinions share a similarity, yet Welsh history appears to be far more open to interpretation and far less substantially chronicled, one gets the feeling that the plethora of 'stories' about Welsh history available on the internet were written last week!, They also appear very much more likely to be based on myth, folklore and legend rather than substantiated, traceable fact..., Why is that??.
I note your points. I avoid the era of Welsh Princes, preferring later periods. I aim to present well-established historical facts, but sometimes they too can be challenged.
Edward II was an unmitigated disaster
