  • Learn how to create your own piece of Folded Book Art by folding a small butterfly with this complete online workshop. We'll explain our bookfolding method and show you where to mark the pages and how to fold them. All of our measure and mark patterns work in the same way, so if you know how to use this pattern, you can use all of our measure and mark pattern.
    The marks will appear in the video, if they go too fast you can pause the video after each new marking. You can also check the marks below.
    You need a hardcover book with a last page number of at least 120 to fold the butterfly from this tutorial. You'll also need a metric ruler and a pencil.
    To calculate your starting page please take the last even numbered page number from your book and divide this by 2. Now subtract 50 from this number. The number you'll get now is your starting page, if it's an even number, please add 1 to it, because your starting page always has to be an odd number.
    You can order the free EASY FOLD here: www.foldedbooka...

    Lawd Almighty, I really thought my butterfly would turn out like the video. Even with these step by step instructions, I somehow screwed it up. Okay, I won’t give up. I’m sooooo going to try this again. Thank you so much for the video instructions!

      Your comment made me anxious to fail but I succeeded! What was the issue ? Did you folded the pages at a 90° angle ? Like an L ?

    Beautiful butterfly. If you are making two measured marks at the top of the page, what marks are you using when you fold the bottom of the page. I did not see you make measured marks at the top and bottom of the 50 pages.

    How are you choosing the angle at which you fold the page. I've noticed you could use the text to fold each page 90
    degrees, but you're not doing that. What criteria are you using?

      @EssentialOrigami Před 3 lety +1

      I’m just guessing, but it looks like the pages are being folded at 90 degrees from the pencil marks. That way, each page is slightly different, making the curved effect at the top and bottom of the pages 🙂

      A great question, you need a template! I explain it briefly in this one-minute video 🙂
