For hardcore fans and theory junkies, notice this new track ends on the "Truth Hits Everybody" chord (bII in rel minor Chorus key, bVII in rel major Chorus key...depending on how you look at it). Of course the verses of this song are in a minor key (Eb minor) a half step below the Chorus' major key (E). The "Truth Hits Everybody" chord here is relative to the key of the chorus only and is a D chord with added colors (9, #11, 13...essentially E/D in bass).
Indeed you're a music-analysis buff! I'm myself comparing anything Sting produces to his older works. Good or bad, nevertheless it's a way of learning how to compose myself :) IMO, this song DOES sound like "Truth Hits..." for the main chorus part, but I'm happy Sting is going back to the ROCK sound, and surprising us thus! As for "50,000", don't you think the verse sounds like "Invisible Sun"? To me the verse contrasts a lot with the "hymn" chorus, which I love
