Very nice emotion! I'm from the Canary Islands and I'm musician. I'm in charge of direction of a canarian folkloric group in Gran Canaria. It's wonderfull to watch the beginnig of our traditionals songs and dances. From the Canary Islands were arrived to the europeans courts two dances, El Canario and Las Folías. It's wonderfull to watch somthing of our history. Nice days
When one considers the conventions of the day. This dance has just as much vitality and eroticism, as any modern day dance routine, even if it conducted in a very subtle style. As for the melody it has that timeless quality and charm.
My fellow reenactor Elaine who is an early dancer herself said that "Il Canario" was a beautiful dance and among her favourites. Compaigne Christine Grimaldi demonstartae why!! Passionate, sensual and a magnificent performance of a difficult dance. Well Done!
