"Arirang" is a Korean folk song that is often considered to be the anthem of Korea. There are about 3,600 variations of 60 different versions of the song, all of which include a refrain similar to, "Arirang, arirang, arariyo (아리랑, 아리랑, 아라리요)" It is estimated the song is more than 600 years old.
"Arirang" is included twice on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list. South Korea successfully submitted the song for inclusion on the UNESCO list in 2012.North Korea also successfully submitted the song for inclusion in 2014. In 2015, the South Korean Cultural Heritage Administration added the song to its list of important intangible cultural assets.
The song is sung today in both North and South Korea, a symbol of unity in an otherwise divided region, since the Korean War.All versions of "Arirang" include a refrain similar to, "Arirang, arirang, arariyo (아리랑, 아리랑, 아라리요).The word "arirang" itself is nonsensical and does not have a precise meaning in Korean. While the other lyrics vary from version to version, the themes of sorrow, separation, reunion, and love appear in most versions. As I said before, no one is sure about

This song is the modern reinterpretation of Korean traditional song ‘Arirang’. They mixed several different version of Arirang into one song. And the tremble of the voice when they sing is the traditional technique when you sing Korean folk song. I feel proud to be Korean even more after watching this:)

“Arirang” is actually a Korean folk song, sometimes considered the unofficial national anthem of Korea. Many different versions are to be found, from more traditional to more upbeat versions (I highly recommend watching the one of So Hyang who did an amazing live version of it, very impressive vocally speaking)

They were in suits for they had to sing other songs prior to or after this stage. Bts took a big part in this theme song of kcon-Arirang- so thats why all the other korean groups joined later. If you want to see the whole performance only with bts, there's a bangtan bomb including the rehearsal which shows the dance moves much better. Actually I loved the rehearsal stage more

kcon is like a kpop convention and arirang was the opening performance/song kcon france (this one you reacted to). Arirang is also a korean folk song but it has many different versions and variations

⚠️JIMIN's lower register and raspy voice is just as mesmerising and unique as his higher tone. At the end part there about 30-40 people were singing the same song and you could hear JIMIN's voice clear and in front of everyone's voice 💛

I was so happy when they extended KCON to NYC. I was able to see BTS for the first time in 2016 since the convention was only 3 hours away. It was definitely a fun event to attend. Wish I attended all the days available, but only went with BTS in the line up. 💜
Because of Sammy 's reaction videos many people can get Korean traditional song. I'm really proud of many people getting know of our traditional song. This arirang is our Korea's most popular and no.1 traditional song. Positive energy that Bts gives....its really still unbelievable.

The live was in France. This was the opening medley. No other group did a dance.
Airang Medley is a Medley by BTS, Block B, Shinee, F.T. Island, f(x) and I.O.I. This medley was performed as the Opening Performance at KCON 2016 France on June 14, 2016. So basically BTS performed a Opening Song but with other groups! They nailed it tho, it was an amazing performance!

I'm glad you have this on your reaction. I remembered my dad use to sing that to me when I was 7 or 8. When I heard this song again 40 some years ago. I cried. I was born in South Korea. I was adopted to an American family of the age of 6. He only knew Jins verse. Then he couldn't remember the rest of the song.

when there are kpop music festivals abroad, there usually is some traditional song featured, or some type of event that promotes korean culture that goes along with it. in this one, it was this song. i remember for a london show (i think mbc did it) some girl groups participated in a hanbok fashion show at the event for fans.
'Arirang' reminds me of my childhood days when we first notice korean stars through the Arirang TV channel.
No seriously, I saw the voice of Jimin and Jungkook together singing arirang and it was shocking, their voice together singing arirang is gorgeous

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU TO WATCH SOHYANG PERFORMANCE SINGING ARIRANG. Arirang is very cultural towards korea and has a lot of version. Kinda like an unofficial South Korea national anthem. But Sohyang's version is closest to the original traditional folk version.

I.O.I is from a survival show, ShinEE is a legendary boy group who popularize the dance in Kpop, F(x) is know for their unique sounds, Block B is well know too in particular for the rap, Ft.Island is a k-rock group if I remember correctly and the MC of the show was Leeteuk of Super Junior (SUJU). I think it's all !!!
