  • Again, I don't really like the 1798 rebellion but this is still a great song. Very Ulster-y.

    Henry was one of my great grandfathers name his last name was mccracken Henry joy mccracken was a ancestor of my great grandfathers

    I like Ciaran Bourke's rendition w/ The Dubliners. I think there's a recording on youtube, but I like how he emphasizes at the end the distraught at the execution of Henry Joy Mccracken, as well as his monologue beforehand giving context.

      I really like that version too. I would have uploaded that one instead of this one, but I think the quality and background sounds are just ehh.

      The fact that it was an utter failure and undone years of progress by the likes of Grattan for example. The consequences are far too much (1801 Act of Union).
