A cavalier ballad written in 1643 by Martin Parker. It would later be adopted by the Jacobites. The Royal Irish Regiment of Foot Guards marched to this tune and it was played when King James II entered Dublin. Here is something I found being most Irish language learners on Duolingo are actually Americans instead of those who live in Ireland. If you use Duolingo can may you tell me what dilect of Irish is taught? The reason I ask is because I know of Munster Irish,Connacht Irish and Leinister Irish.
I think Duolingo actually does a sort of mix between the dialects, teaching aspects of multiple ones.
@@Hibernica1641 so maybe it is trying to create a unified Irish language. I know there is Neo-Irish coming in to place to replace the Irish that is already here because it is getting closer to extinction yet it is trying to preserve as much of the Irish that there is as possible yet form some new Irish to have Irish revived. Well I know how to say milk in in Irish which is pronounced as bonya yet it is spelled differently to what it sounds like instead being spelled as bainne.

In school you are thought a general all round version, being standardised throughout the 1940s and 50s , to expand your vocab and stop sounding like a primary school teacher use resources like teanglann or other compiled dictionaries, as for the spelling why would the letter in irish correspond to their phonetic english countrtparts? While there has been mulitipul spelling reforms over the decades there has always been a difference between what may be intuitive in english and what there would be in irish as i there is in every other launguage just another aspect to learn i am afraid @sethfrisbie3957
@@sethfrisbie3957p.s yes the duolingo version is the standard version every now and again it goes a bit scitzo and throughs in specific regional words but it's not like there's firm borders on these things anyway, their are other websites that specifically cater to specific dialects but it's more of a curiosity anyway

Well when you think of it The American Revolution was started over tax evasion and vandalism. I am getting used the comments being put on the right side of the screen. I am much more used to being able to comment under the video.

@@Hibernica1641 I still have that update and want to get rid of it. I honestly hate it as well and I got it yesterday unexpectedly. It just gets in the way and makes it harder to scroll through videos without accidentally clicking one you do not want to watch.
