  • Shane O'Neill was a Gaelic chieftain of the O'Neill dynasty. He often competed with other Gaelic clans for power but he is best known for a war he fought against the Crown. This failed, however, as the only thing supporting him was his own pride. The father of Patrick Sarsfield, the famous Jacobite hero, was knighted for aiding the crown against Shane's rebellion.
There aren't many depictions of Shane's rebellion, so some of the images are of earlier wars and are slightly unrelated, but still relevant.
    Performed by 'Tara'.

Well it is quite a good song yet I like The Fields of Athenry more yet it sounds quite similar in a way in how I rank it.

@@Hibernica1641 true. I ranked them as being somewhat similar because of it sounds on some parts yet which do you like more?

@@sethfrisbie3957 I'm struggling to pick to pick between the 2. Fields of Athenry is a lot more popular and well known, but I like songs that are about earlier history like this one. I think I would have to choose Fields of Athenry, though.
