- Kochi, also known an Queen of the Arabian Sea 🌊 is a place with deep roots in history and its streets exude an old-world charm. It had been a main port city🚢, not only of Kerala, but also of the Indian Peninsula🗺️. Kochi stands as an important city and tourist place in Kerala. 1️⃣Hill Palace Museum
Also known an Kunninmael Palace (Kanakakkunnu Palace) is Kerala’s largest archaeological museum. It was the official residence of the Kochi rulers in 17 th century. It is located in Thripunithura and was built in 1865 by Maharaja of Cochin. The palace complex comprises of 49 buildings built in the traditional Kerala style architecture and is surrounded by 52 acres of terraced land. The museum has a collection of ancient artifacts🛡️, sculptures🏺, coins, jewels and materials belinging to Cochin Maharaj and his royal family.

2️⃣Paradesi Synagogue
Paradesi Synagogue is the oldest synagogue in the Commonwealth, was built by Jewish community of Cochin. The Jewish Synagogue was built in 1568, almost 1500 years after the beginning of the Jewish connection with Kerala. It was built on the land adjacent to the Mattancherry Palace ( in a corner of Jew Town), given by the erstwhile king of Cochin. Plethora of antique objects ⚱️are displayed here. Glass chandeliers dangling from ceiling belong to the 19 th century and were imported from Belgium. Hand-painted blue willow patterned floor tiles were brought from Canton, China and each tile is different from one another in its design. A pulpit with brass rails is built in the center of the room. The teak Ark houses four scrolls of Torah 📜(the first five books of Old Testament) and they are encased in silver and gold.

3️⃣ Jew Town
Jew Town is located between Mattancherry Palace and the Paradesi Synagogue. There are popular antique shops along the street which can bewitch
every visitor with their variety and curio. The colonial buildings lined up in the street add to its quaint charm too. It is an eminent hotspot for shopaholics 🛍️ and antique lovers in Cochin.

4️⃣Santa Cruz Cathedral Basilica
The Santa Cruz Cathdral Basilica ⛪️ in Fort Kochi is one of the eight Basilicas in India. The history of this church dates back to the sixteenth century and began with the arrival of Portugese missionaries in 1500 CE. It has magnificent Indo- European and Gothic architecture.The main altar was decorated by the renowed Italian painter Fr Antonio Moscheni and his disciple De Gama of Mangalore. The seven large canvas paintings 🖼️ including a beautiful reproduction of the ‘Last Supper’ by Leonardo Da Vinci are a real feast for the eyes. The beautiful stained windows are another attraction.

5️⃣ Fort Kochi
Fort Kochi in Ernakulam district of Kerala is the first European township in India. It houses many historical minuments. On the Vasco Da Gama square, you will be attracted automatically to the 10 m high installations in the sea. These are the Chinese. Fishing Nets and have now been used for more than 500 years. Ferry rides are also available here ⛴️. The Fort Kochi Carnival 🎉🎊 celebrates New Year’s Eve every year.
6️⃣ Mattancherry Palace
Popularly known as Dutch Palace is situated at Mattancherry, was built by Portugese in 1557 and presented to Raja Veera Kerala Varma of Kochi. It is one of the finest examples of the Kerala style of architecture interspersed with colonial influences. It came to be known as the Dutch Palace as it underwent major repairs at the hands of the Dutch. It is famous for its long and spacious halls along with its central courtyard🍀. It has a mesmerizing collection of mural paintings and antique royal regalia including furniture and weapons.
