The VIZI is a lot more moving head than the X-Move in both size and features. I have always liked the X-Move. It will work great for a lot of applications. But the Vizi is for sure stepping up in a BIG way
Colorado Sound & light has the part. I list it in the video. I thought it was going to move around on me, but the weight of the VIZI plus the Scrim King elastic tention seems to hold it in place really nice
Have you ever thought about using 2 scrim kings per tripod? Covering up the 2 sides, then instead of the flat side facing the dancefloor, you angle the tripod and have it facing on a angle. You would be hiding 2/3s of the tripod instead of 1/3, and providing a more dramatic uplighting experience. maybe something to try for a new vid :)
Oh when I got these in the mail today, I was ready to drill them, pin them, clamp them, something. Then I tried it and it worked out well with the weight of the VIZI itself. hmm elongated brackets COULD be the answer. Let me mess with them and see what we can do with scanners in the next day or so
I just realized something great. If you have two speakers with fly mounts, you could buy a Dura Truss set for ADJ and put the truss itself on top of your speakers, and use the crank stands for totems. It would actually be a pretty nice setup :D and not that expensive ;)
Any totem ideas for fixtures with two brackets instead of one? Like the Chauvet QSpot 260. I like this style totem but, I'm a little stumped on a good solution.
yeah, I'm with you on that. As long as you have an extra set of speaker stands, #4 works for everyday apps. Then the Dura Truss is excellent for thoes BIG gigs where you need to lauch a big moving head WAY up there. However, if you have a smaller moving head or moonflower/laser, etc and no extra speaker stands, the LTS-6 is a good deal $ wise.
I think the bracket is too short to do a full-on top mount. I have one of thoes laying around (you can see it laying on the shelf in this video). Let me see what I can come up with
Dont know how far you monitor back on these. I was so excited to get my moving heads and had my great plan that I would secure them to top of the speaker and it would look great. That was succesful, till I turn on the heads and it all started to swing like and earth quake was happening. I thought I was gonna have to go truss, but dont have room. Just orderd some parts to give this a try on some old speakerstands I have sitting around.
Brian, I meant to ask you at YTDJL today but when I thought about it you were wrapped up on the phone. Where can I find Scrim-Kings stuff? Their website doesn't have a way of ordering direct.

Wow, great series again. I like option 4 now. Seems the most economical seeing as all you need is that part. Well Done...
i definitely like the last option best, it looks the nicest by far and looks to be sturdier than the other options too!

loving this idea! where can i buy that piece you used? how sturdy is it? does the piece move around? i wish you tighteng it down as well.

I would worry about the lighter speaker tripods allowing the center of gravity to shift more to the top than the crank stands.
