Hello Marc! Just now found your channel and subscribed of course. Looking forward to watching the continuing videos of your builds..especially the Highboy! I purchased my first real truck in 1975, a blue 1972 F250 4x4 highboy, two tone blue. It was a very low mileage example as it was acquired from the original owner here in Las Vegas. I drove it for 9 years and parked it in my back yard in early 1984, when I moved out of state. Long story short, back now in Vegas, and this truck hasn't moved since 1984, and I've finally decided to put it at the top of my priority list of vehicles to get back on the road and enjoy again. This was always my favorite and I'm sorry that I ever parked it for so long..but at least I have it now to put it back in the beautiful condition that it once was...and enjoy. The vin number of this 72' starts with the "F26", as I hear, that a true original F250 4x4 model would have. Marc, I'm so glad that I found your informative video today, and looking forward to watching the following episodes, as I'm sure by now, it being three years since you came out with this one, that you have probably finished your Highboy swap, and possibly some others since. Keep up the great work, we Bumpside owners need all the help and guidance that we can get..I know I do..Thanks my friend!

Have lived them and owned Many in my life and my business had a dozen early Fords 59 in the big trucks and 67 -72 for the remainder! Both of my present trucks are survivors the crew cab is ready for majiy rehab and has had 534,000 Miles on it. Chassis completely redone and has 40 K body hasn't one dent yet rusted everywhere! Still love it and gonna give it some love hopefully sooner than later and will need sources for parts etc. Thank you for a great channel
Love it. I've had many old ford trucks and I wish I didn't sell them. My first one was a 1970 f250 camper special back in 1982. My favorite was a 1974 f250 4x4 with no power anything but a rebuilt 390 over bored engine with locking diffs front and back (pulled a semi out of the ditch with it trailer brakes on) a real mans truck. Also my next favorite a f250 4x4 with a 428 cid, 4 barrel that can race with corvettes. My mouth waters when I watch your stuff.
Can't wait for more videos. When I bought my truck in 2012 there wasn't much online about them and not much of a following. So glad these trucks are taking off!

I am currently building a late 1972 dually 2wd... originally a 360 2bbl with a 435 4 speed... at some point in time, it was swapped with a 460 with a c6... this truck was originally sold as a chassis cab and a dump bed was installed... I cut the dump bed off and now have a bed from a 1970 installed... i have a lot more to go on this but wanted to share my build with all of you... keep up the good work marc

We look forward to following along. Great idea, should be a lot of fun to watch! Don't forget to pitch in some of your classic comedy, political rants, life as a tow-truck driver etc., etc! - As far as 390's in 4x4's, my belief is that with the 4x4's being around 1,000lb heavier than comparable 2wd, and naturally attracting more wok-load, Ford knew that the 390's higher compression was going to become a reliability problem when towing bigger loads. Particular during summer months. Whereas the 360 is virtually bulletproof in those scenarios with it's ridiculously low compression. The difference between the two, in a '69 F-Series for example was 18hp at 4,000rpm.. (Essentially not noticeable from the seat of the pants!). I think anyone running higher compression FE power in working Highboy's needs to consider their fuel quality, timing, carb tune etc., if they are going to prevent almost certain detonation problems. Naturally most restored trucks rarely see that kind of work-load, so the issue is pretty mute. Great 1st video, look forward to more!
@@bumpsidetreasures By the way, I could use a very nice bumpside 4WD FE oil pan. The type with the rear sump and rear drain, where the dipstick goes into the side of the pan. In fact, I'd be interested in more than one if you know of any.

Followed all of your builds on social media and they inspire me to someday turn my current bump that I bought from the original owners called the hog hauler because since the day it was driven off the lot until the 360 dropped a valve hauled hogs here in sw missouri into something half as nice as the rigs you have put together.
Are you stilling doing resto's? I have a beautiful 1970 F250 That is in great shape. But I have no adequate place to store it and it's out in the rain here in Washington state and this truck deserves better. Doesn't need much. Would sell it for a reasonable price. Very, very little rust but....

I sold my green 72 to help take care of my family, but I hope someday I will be able to get another one to build again and teach my son how to work on trucks. Marc, you're very knowledgeable and I'm looking forward to following your channel. I have a 1972 F100 and I know you're probably not interested, but I would love some help with it. I'm a young college kid, 23, and I've been putting a lot of time and money into my vehicle and there are some issues that I just can't seem to resolve. I hope to someday tear the whole thing down to the frame rebuild it properly, but in the meantime I've just been replacing things as they fail. Safe to say funds are running low, and lots of people keep telling me to quit throwing money at it and sell it, but I would truly hate to do that. It gives me a lot of pleasure and I've already put too much into it to just sell it now. It's incredibly difficult to find like-minded people in my area, let alone my age group, which really makes things difficult.
I'll start with this one that's bugging the heck out of me. I have this unusual vibration, most noticeable around 50mph or so. I can hear it, feel it, etc. I've replaced everything thats come to mind. I’ve replaced the harmonic balancer, engine mounts, rebuilt and rebalanced driveshaft, U-joints, carrier bearing, rear yoke, transmission mounts, new brake drums, etc. Nothing seems to be fixing the issue and I'm pretty hopeless that I'll ever get it resolved at this point.
@@planejet42 It could be several things, unfortunately. You might want to check the balance of the tires and brake drums, as well as the wheel bearing. It's also not uncommon for a torque converter or flywheel to be out of balance. If it's a long bed, you can also check out your intermediate shaft carrier bearing. Also, a "road-force balancing" is never a bad idea. It puts circular pressure on the tires as they spin on the balancer. Hope some of this helps!

I just found your channel. I'm restoring a 1976 Highboy. My question for you is would you replace an entire door of quarter panel with an LMC part or would you cut out just the rust and weld in new metal?
Not a huge fan of aftermarket body panels, but that's just me. Personally, I just look hard to source rust-free OEM parts. They're available out west. Just have to search. Most salvage yards will ship.

only used the 360 block ; built a 390 from it, with aluminum high rise intake with a 4 barrel carb with full headers; flow master mufflers

All stock spring packs were re-arched +1" and one leaf was added to each pack.
