Love how Pierce sings about very personal feelings of loss and regret and puts them in the milieu of post-war Saigon on the eve of the wet season. Like it's painting a world thoroughly hungover from American capitalism. Such a bare yet enigmatic and resonant song.

      Great observation, Oskari.
Vietnam was hungover from both American capitalism and the brainwashing and incompetence of communism.

Only 136 thumbs up. It tell us a lot about the decadence of music in our miserable times.

Excellent choice for a video. Salesman is one of my all-time favorites. Why can't I find the song on Spotify or iTunes?

New to Gun Club. But they're pretty amazing. Question: Does this song in any way reference to the novel Lucky Jim? I've never read it, but have heard reference to it. It just seems like to much of a damn coincidence to have just ran across both of these things at the same time.

Hi Richard. I don't think there is any reference to the novel, wich is great too but on a different level. Maybe you have read it in the mean time...
