Actor Jake Gyllenhaal and author Robert Graysmith are interviewed at the time of the 'Zodiac' movie release. Graysmith wrote the 1986 book that the movie was based on.
Such a great movie. It takes the chilling dark stuff from early Fincher movies and mixes it with the more conventional way of storytelling he uses in his later films.
@@loniepaglicawan9525 ikr. that man ages a lot slower than the average person. he's 40 years old and doesn't look any older than someone in their early 30's
There is nothing I'd change about this movie. It's a masterpiece but in saying that, I am very aware that people died at the hands of a lunatic called the Zodiac. And those people had family & friends. Think just How Many people were affected. So I'd like to say, along with this film being a masterpiece, that the victims, I think about you, the survivors, I think of you. And I'm always aware of just how many lives were altered, ruined, scarred in some way and I think of you. I think, how a film about such horror could reach inside & twist your gut. Time..it's a relative thing. For grief can become complex, bottled up & what happened so long ago really was just yesterday. For those people who suffered, as just a person, families living in that city, how afraid were taxi drivers, lover's lane, visiting a park, how they past down those fears. I study. Just a few cases got under my skin. This is one.
This film for one had a stellar A listers who could act god I love RDJ, jake and mark ❤️ all three are great at what they do and more importantly they pick the right scripts specially jake, his choices are insane and bring in Fincher to this mix it has all the things for a masterpiece. But yeah it's unfortunate this film was done on a psycho who killed people.
It's a Dam good movie but the Zodiac killer name was Rick Mangan who changed his name to Ralph Mangan who's sitting in the front of two flags in the early nineties before I met him and the DB Cooper cipher name is Ralph Mangan.
In retrospect I did not understand the focus, during the investigation, upon Zodiac's handwriting. If Zodiac had a "light table," as Graysmith posited -- say, an overhead projector with a light source from beneath -- he simply could have traced one-by-one the individual letters in his notes from any handwriting style, meaning that none of the letters in his notes could have been associated with any of his personal handwriting samples. Heck, I can just write the way I always have -- but if my notes to newspapers were composed using a light table and somebody else's handwriting... hey!

Hi All, Looking for a bit of help in answering something that's bugging me, please: years ago I read Graysmiths book, the yellow Zodiac version. One thing (a suspect) that really stood out to me in it was a man from the other side of the country, New York. The man, from what I remember, was alleged to have travelled from New York to the west coast, SF, every time there was a Zodiac killing. I don't have the yellow book anymore - anyone know the suspect I am talking about, what's his name please? Thanks, Spence.
Have not read the book, but the way the movie plays out, I would agree about Allen. However, since the movie’s release, there are other “suspects” who cast some doubt as to who Zodiac is
smokefree08 is it, if you say so, they done something nobody has done in 50 years, but they done it in so many hours to make it look good, because it was there own cipher, why has nobody done it since, zodiac said he was crackproof in one of his letters, but the hardens crack it in a few hours, so how can zodiac be crackproof unless it was zodiac that solved there own code( the hardens),,,there the only ones that could crack the code because it was there own, that makes them crackproof
ROBERT GRAYSMITH IS THE ZODIAC. Look at how detailed his drawing of the zodiac costume. Theres no way a kid who just got stabbed 7 times and give THAT good of a description. And who would wanna keep the story alive than the killer himself? And whos done more to keep the story alive than graysmith? And...graysmiths hands are the same size as the gloves in the cab
It was Allen and the guy who did the movie poster. Allen was in prison using his 1 phone call each week to harass Graysmith for catching onto him. Not too mention Graysmuith doesn't have the build. Allen fit it perfectly and the guy who did the movie poster did the writings. It was 2 people.
@@BloodyHorrorLover criminal minds!? Really? Never seen a whole episode. Im a nerd who spends way too much time researching crimes and psychology. So, it appears youve only heard graysmiths version of events... Its 100% proven it wasnt arthur leigh allen. If it was 2 people, the 2nd person was bob vaughn. The film posters lead them suspect to rick marshall, but were actually written by bob vaughn, and its vaughns handwriting that matched the zodiacs, and he was inexplicably never questioned. He also used phrases like "little darling" and he owned a corvair that he didnt drive all the time...anyway, look up some of the hand-drawn greeting cards the zodiac sent, and look up some of the cartoons graysmith drew for the newspaper and tell me you dont see any similarities. ssl
what are you comparing the constume to to know it's so accurate? they literally have nothing but the eye witness testimony. he literally said a man with a black hood, clothing, and a zodiac necklace. i think you are the zodiac since you know the drawing is so accurate.
who's to say graysmith isn't the real killer trying to frame allen i saw on the internet were he had a crew cut like the photo of zodiac plus he was a cartoonist has anyone done his background and dna test???????? plus it put him in the lime light plus he has a mono tone voice
may only find out on his death bed!! since he wrote the book it would than be a confession. i wonder what those that were on the case would say because he was right there with them the whole time!!
here's a code for you dude: ,.-:";'?!,. solve this and you can go to the Chronicals with your theory. People are capable of anything, and I mean, ANYTHING, when they want it hard enough, and our dna goes back to the first man to ever walk straight and even further, so yeah, this young, brilliant, passionate cartoonist who has an eye for detail and true love for mystery never gave up on the case. He didn't give up not because he was the Zodiac, but because something isinde him cried for him, he was (and I hope still is if he hasn't passed away God forbid) magnetized to the Zodiac's character for reasons only he knows, but he was also a father, and I think that added to his desire to solve the case and protect his own children. This is the true power of the mind, and people underastemate themselves as humans until something like that grabs you by the soul and you find abilitys and power that you never imagined you had. So maybe you should read his real books instead of relaying on the fact that he and 10,000 other people had a similar haircut to the killer.
he was a cartoonist for the same news paper that the zodiac sent the letters and hand made cartoon taunts and codes to and also called out one of his friends there! he also in interview made mention he loved movies in which some of the letters mention movies even the name zodiac is dr zodiac from charlie chan movie! he has made mention that he thought the zodiac used a projector to project others hand writting for copying and yes he had kids and used them! he also was able to thru his job keep and eye on the case and the police on the case he has said that! he also asked the lead investigator to think about anybody he could think of that would be working with the police that could be the zodiac himself! he has given so many hints but nobody was really paying attension to him. and as for his book there were things he put in there that the police have said was a lie i do not think it was i think he was confessing and nobody was listening!!!
One of the best films in American cinematic history ! The actors, the story and music are incredible .
i agree, david fincher nailed another one
The interrogation scene is so good
Concur. On so many levels and still to this day.
The film is long but it was exciting till the very end man some films are half the time an don't have much excitement in as this one
How so? I enjoyed it every second and either way it's not a fiction thriller it really happened in real life...

No, unfortunately he didn't. And the recent solution to the Z340 cipher only provides even more food for thought.
Jake is a great actor. It's a shame that he had to portray a self-serving charlatan like Graysmith.
