The percussion always screws around... it's just how they roll, it's in their blood, apparently. And then, we get stuff like this video. Or, in my experience, yelled at a lot for the percussion screwing around... sometimes, it works out for the best.
@@embrezar LOL yeah! I am a bass drum player and i have gotten the saxophones infront of the bass section in trouble multiple times for making noise. IDK my band teacher got mad at the sax players for making bass drum sounds, but i wasn't gonna complain XD
My band teacher isn't afraid to put the percussion in the front but only if there not doing anything or are getting ahead/not doing it right because our band teacher let's us screw around
Hello everyone, On behalf of my fellow percussionists, we appreciate all the support that this video's received. We never expected it to get over 100k views, but here we are. To answer a few common questions that I've seen: The song is Offenbach vs Liszt (arranged by Chris Brooks). The song goes between the Can Can, and Hungarian Rhapsody #2. The boomwhackers are hitting 2x8 pieces of wood, with tops of carpeting. We had someone make them specifically for the piece. Thanks again for all the support, Scott (5th from the right, the one with the newspaper)
@ProFriend this group was our high school percussion section at the annual Drummin’ with the Monkey show at Waukee High School. This show was a one-off (only performed at two shows the same day), but the actual Drummin’ with the Monkey was an annual show from roughly 2000-2016. It ended after my senior year when our percussion instructor stepped down from his position and his replacements opted to not continue the shows.
@ProfessorPeterMSchiekele (sp?) looks like something that #PDQBach would approve of, if not have instigated if he had access to these boomwhackers back in the day.
I have sat here for about five minutes trying to think of the words to convey how content I feel after watching this video. It was simply... exquisite.
We often use BOOMWHACKERS during The Dementia music -therapy sessions at which I volunteer. They sometimes ‘confuse ‘ our participants, who occasionally think they have to BLOW down the tubes, but what ever we do, everyone has lots of fun with them. But this group has taken boomwhacker-playing to a different level! These guys are all superb musicians and much praise must go to the arranger of this piece. The comedic element they display, is superb, too. What a truly positive and uplifting video this is!! Barbara Van Doren , LONDON.
I don't know why this popped up in my feed 6 years later, but I was really hoping for a key change where they all had to swap out their boomwhackers at the same time. That would have been a really nice bit of choreography!
A mix of Offenbach's Can-Can and Franz Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody. Really wonderful production! Shame on the 292 people who gave this a thumbs-down! I guess they just don't appreciate classical music and hard work... as of 17 May 2019.
Fab stuff. Weirdly wonderful music gift to have. It does make me wonder what I've just watched in these last few minutes though, but definitely a different inspirational take on the classical wonder. I truly love the one with the green in the middle, they have the fun job of making the last note time in very well indeed. Kudos for making the last five minutes of watching this all the more enjoyable!
Beyond brilliant was so well thought out an with such a good sense of humor, theater, worthy of Monty Python brought a whole new edge to a classic , Lord only knows how much they had to practice , If the people of this planet would take more time on creative works such as this I think no one would ever go without, just the shear concept.
I'm so hooked on this stuff! I would love to see how they train to sequence and think. The precision is delightful. Wonderful work! Take those lessons with you.
I feel for the two in the middle who only had like eight notes each in the entire piece. It’s hard to be the ones to have those kind of parts, for a lot of reasons, but these guys were amazing. xD
that was incredible. what timing and composing - and the choreography was terrific. that must have taken quite a lot of rehearsing. the dancing mime was so good! you can’t have fun til you know your work backwards and forwards! wonderful job. thanks! 🌷🌿🪘🌀🛢🌼🌱
If the 3 stopped ever did music this would have been it. I love watching yall. You do great songs and have fun doing and y'all make me laugh. Thanks and keep up the great job
Just watched my first boomwhacker thing on yt a minute ago, this is 2nd now, ffs where didf i miss this??? What tuneful fun! That was nothing short of amazing, laughing and enjoying, don't get much better for a stab at an algorithm's choice, glad i found this. Cheers to all on an old thread/post, it all be good :)
On this episode of “What Will Quarantine Bring Me Today?”
When the music teacher has a box of these when you walk in, you know it’s gonna be a good day
Sadly we just had a box of recorders
We always had these out, yet we barely used them.
This. And Lincoln Logs...
Don't worry, it's you're friendly neighbor hood boomwhacker cult
Can I join?
Imagine if bands of these started appearing out of nowhere? Thay would be so cool lol
I half-expected the big guy to twirl his around and say "hello there, general kenobi"
I love that they were all having fun doing it, I guess if your instrument is boomwhackers you can’t take you’re self too seriously
Any time your boomwhaking your taking it seriously 🤣
You just *slap*
Can you imagine like a suit and tie “professional” boomwhacker concert 😂
Yourself
I know there's 99.9% chance you're joking (in which case, thank you) but in case or that 0.1%, you know that's not actually their instrument, right?

Don't you just love it when you get lost in CZcams and you find a gem like this ?
Jeepers Scoob yes 100%
"Pachelbel's Chicken."
You're welcome :)
That’s exactly the wat i came here😂
YES
Yes indeed quite hilarious I love straight no chasers music
1:12 is the most abstract "size doesn't matter" joke I've ever seen.
So abstract i can't get it. Its more like "size actually matters"
@@paulsernine5302 yes, that's the joke
That was a lot of fun. Not sure how I got here and don't really care - I just enjoyed that.
s10m0t10n me either really. I agree tho, it was fun to listen and watch

Yes, agree.
No one knows how we got here it just happened but who cares the shit is wild

i love all the mini performances packed/hidden in one big performance very entertaining.

your comment is old at this point, but i have to say this: It also keeps you focused on not just the music, but their antics...
I really like to imagine this was out of left field in the middle of a different performance and at first the audience was all, "Dafuq?"
You're definitely not wrong, it caught a lot of people off-guard
The pieces in the video are Hungarian Rhapsody No.2 (more specifically the finale) by Franz Liszt and Can Can by Offenbach. You're welcome.
Orpheus In The Underworld...
I’ve fallen into the boom whacker hole. Thanks for 2.1k likes. I guess boom whackers are still just as addicting as I remember😂

How did I get here? I needed a video on getting rid of an intrusive alligator and now I’m here.
Kalani Rio DO YOU HAVE A SQUATER. LMFAO
That made me laugh 😂
So... Did this meet your expectations?
So, ... How went it with the intrusive alligator? I want the details.

This is the kind of thing youtube was meant for folks.
This old time are gold time... Team its super concert... Gratts and greets from Poland...
Definitely needs more views. Charming and entertaining!
What do you do at half 1 in the morning?
My friends: sleep
Me: watches "classical" boomwhackers
Holy shit, the comedy work in this is just hilarious! Props to whoever directed the little funny moments, in addition to the musical director.
I haven't heard that name in 2 years, I loved playing them

Back in the mundane part of 2020, huh?

I don’t know. All we have from the Neanderthal period is a couple of flutes.
I saved this and still get great enjoyment every single time I watch it!! Which has been for at least 2 years!!
This is the best thing I've seen in a long time. The whole performance was great!
So much fun to watch and to hear! Well done!!

False, we're percussionists :D
band kids
False, only percussionists could create anything as magnificent as that performance.
Zoe Smith you are definitely correct on the percussionist part, but there is a lot of theatrics in there
Theater kids who are also in the percussion section of the school band/orchestra. The fine arts DO crossover.
