- After applying for four years, I finally drew the Iowa coveted tag and was able to experience what the Iowa rut was all about for a week of bowhunting on some of the best ground in the state!
Maybe not quite what you were looking for considering the wait for the tag and the cost of everything to come up here but I also don't blame you on pulling the trigger when you did. I live a half hour east of where you hunted. For the future I would highly recommend setting those vacation days from Nov 11th thru the 13th or 14th. This is my experience and I'm just 1 man but I've shot every single one of my bucks within those dates and have seen the biggest bucks I've laid eyes on within those dates as well. 2 reasons I believe. Mature bucks are coming off lock down and by that time it's much less likely you'll hit those random high 60s or higher temps. Good luck this fall!

I thought it was an awesome hunt man! Awesome quality and great deer! Lived in Minnesota all my life and waited 4 years for my archery tag twice and finally decided to move. Our property is only 10 miles west of allerton and was an awesome choice! Awesome hunt and definitely going to sub. Keep up the good work! And good luck this season!

Small world I grew up in Corydon 6 miles away from allerton and the guy that own trails end is one of my best friends uncles

Another young buck shot by an out of state hunter who would rather kill a dink than go home empty handed…. On land that local guys used to actually kill big deer on
Tell me about it! It's a shame isn't it! How dare we provide some income for the property owner, eat every night at the local diner, support the local hotel, give money to Iowa's DNR, take a week of vacation, spend all the money on travel, gas, and tags, and end up shooting a deer that we are dang proud of and would do it over and over again! Wow i hunt on a lease here in my home state and i shot a eight pointer that i wouldn’t have on opening day but i had a baby that was past due date so i was lucky to be hunting the peak rut at all. Landowners were tickled for me. Asked me to come back mext year because we killed and recovered every deer my family shot on the lease!! No wounded deer and a buck to put on the wall! Man people are so rude. Its nuts. You sound like a bitter guy who’s never had any success

I was looking forward to watching your hunt, until, you started playing music over the natural sounds of the video. There's a time to use music and the time to not there's never a time to use annoying. Just leave it natural the music is unnecessary. I'm moving on to another video.

Couldn't of been more prouder! It was a trip that I will remember forever and to harvest an Iowa buck was icing on the cake!
@@southerndirt Congratulations on a cool buck. Maybe I missed something because I was watching at work, but you didn't show the shot and then you barely showed the deer after you recovered it. Just seemed like you didn't want to show very much of the deer because maybe some guys would say it wasn't very big. If you're happy, then screw what anyone else thinks.
Wow, what a buck! Not! Didn't show much cause it wasn't much. CZcamsr hunters just gotta kill something for the "show". We pass nicer bucks in.......

I'm gonna generously guess it scored 117 to 129? Personally im Not impressed with the shooting of a 2 1/2 year old buck then making a video about it. Your video content was great quality though. You had everything on point in this production, until no kill shot and calling a juvenile buck a shooter and then killing it. I understand some people out of state think that's a big buck though. Most states that is a giant buck ive heard. Happy you got a deer I don't consider myself a big time buck shamer, I'd just love to see 4 year old deer be considered shooters, but I'll never see everyone get on board with that. Atleast this buck was never going to amount to anything judging by genetics he had going there. If the outfitter is okay with shooting scrub bucks and your satisfied that's all that matters. You had a tag to legally harvest a deer, basket rack or not. Next time maybe show off your deer and sit beside it and share some details about your moments in that stand. Act proud of your deer even if you got buck fever and made a mistake. Embrace the hunt big buck or not. Glad you had fun hunting in our great state. Nice work on the video. Critism is constructive, I'd love to see more of your material. Go big or go home buddy!

Great video and content! I did this hunt on public ground 5 years ago. The only money Iowa will get out of me is gas money as I drive through it! All these trophy hunters can keep it! Way over rated for the cost and wait. Just my opinion.
You say your not a buck shammer and then shame him for shooting a buck. This dude has well over $1000 tied up in the tag alone and had to wait 5 years for it I think he can shoot whatever deer he feels like and shouldn’t have to hear crap for it because some knuckle dragged on the internet says only 4 year old bucks can be shot.
Spraying snake oil water and phoney ozonics shows that you're amateurs. All unnecessary.
