Hated the mk8 when first launched,
but starting to really like them now especially in R line!
It really drives great. Its very fast for a 150ps car with a top speeding easily exceeding 230kph. Its all you will ever need. Forget the touch screens, i dont use them unless i want to listen to music, my country is too small for satellite navigation. The R line doesnt offer much for me, its a waste of money if you ask me. For as long as it drives great, especially with 17inch wheels, you need nothing more.

@@johnf8700 the different editions only differ in options. the eTSI is not noisy at all but of course once you exceed 150kph, it does become a bit noisy. other than that, the car is very quiet.

The engine is pretty good, quiet and resolutive but....I must confess that my blood doesn't have adrenaline listening the name Golf since many generations....good test Joe!!!!
David Casas do you know if this engine is the same quiet with the Style edition of Golf? They have the same engine 1500cc 150ps mild hybrid.
I haven't tested that mild hybrid model so I don't know...

How hot does the steering wheel get?
I tak samo jeśli chodzi o ten elektryczny hamulec ręczny, bo widziałem że też masz problem. Żeby spóścić ręczny trzeba dać w dół i puścić a jak zaciągnąć to do góry i puścić. Nie ty tak robisz że ty jak wrzucasz załóżmy bieg wsteczny to ty dajesz do przodu i tak trzymasz, albo po kilka razy dajesz do przodu nie trzeba trzymać tego. Tak jak mówię bieg wsteczny do przodu od razu puszczasz jak d to do tyłu i od razu puszczasz. Tak tylko piszę na przyszłość.

What would you chose this or 2024 corolla 2.0 hybrid, also whcih one is more quiet ?
Quiet Volkswagen in anybuse case. It has better soundproofing. Also the seats in the golf are better cushioned than the toyota. As a car vw is way better. The problem is the price difference between the 2. Toyota is really cheap in comparison (talking about the 200h 150hp petrol engine) with similar extras. I'd go for the toyota only if you use case was 95% city driving
Please do the 0-100 in Sport and not in Eco mode next time.

Cześć Joe słuchaj chciałbym Ci powiedzieć jak naprzykład teraz wrzuciłeś Bieg wsteczny i wystarczy tylko ten języczek do przodu i puścić nie trzeba się siłować, ani klikać kilka razy. Piszę Ci tak, bo widziałem w kilku filmach na przykład w filmie z Volvo XC40 opublikowany 21.10.2019 widziałem że jak wrzucałeś d to robiłeś to kilka razy wrzucałeś trzeba dać temu swobody. Tak jak mówię żeby wrzucić bieg wsteczny tylko do przodu i puścić jak d to do tylu i póścić.

If you are interested to hear we have the new golf and once the RPMs are high the car changes gears by itself and automatically shifts back to full automatic mode. If you change gears sooner you will be able to drive in ‘manual’ as long as u want

The dsg helps it get upto 100 pretty quickly.
But it’s pretty lazy on the roll. 70kph -130kph 10 seconds
No faster than an Opel Astra with 1.4 140bhp cvt .
It’s about what you’d expect from a car with that bhp .
Lovely looking car dislike the feather touch buttons .
Its only 150hp
I tested it against the 1.2 ultimatum Astra with manual and 145 hp. The Astra is significantly faster in the middle-accelerations than the new Golf 8 with DSG. You can literally feel the difference. ;)

Cool , I’m not completely sold on the Looks of the New Astra either 😝, (fussy aren’t i) This golf seems abit lazy May be because it’s new the engine may need to loosen up but as is . I’m not impressed .

It is only a feeling, in some cars you think you are flying but instead you are really slow. The real thing is simple bhp per tone and that is it

VW ma dobrą propagandę. Ludzie nadal wierzą w moc niemieckiej myśli technicznej wbrew faktom (liczne wpadki konstrukcyjne od wielu lat).

yes this is the R line not the R. 150hp for 1.5 engine os really good. obviously the Golf R will have alottr more
Great building quality when you pass the "stress test" back road. I would prefer the Style edition over the "R". The haptic feedback buttons on the "R" steering wheel are the worst. 1,5TSI engine is excellent but not combined with mild hybrid system. Many of those have failed in Greece before reaching 5k km. Also the DSG gearbox has a life expectancy of 60k km if used in traffic so is better to go with the manual transmission. Golf is still a Golf which is the best c_segment all-arounder if you choose wisely (not mh, not DSG). SLA rear suspension is the selling point against an excellent family car as a Škoda Octavia. So for the family owner maybe the best overall choice is Golf 1,5TSI Style manual transmission Variant. I have high hopes for the new 308 SW but probably Golf variant & Škoda Octavia will still be the best overall...
never heard the DSG has a life expectancy of 60k when used in cities, where did you get this info from? and the mild hybrid is truly excelent. the start-stop system is no longer a bother. you don't even know you have one. there are many 1.5 etsi for sale in germany with more than 10k km and they don't have any problems. and driving everyday a manual in a city....no thank you, I'd rather skip driving altogether.

Unfortunately, VW / Audi only test their TSI engines on Autobahns, but when they are subjected to heavy traffic in large cities, the result is pure carbonization and constant breaks after the warranty expires. It's fact!
